potatobroxd Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 Hi guys - bike has a dead battery and manuals states 12v 8AH. Does this mean ANY battery with the same specification works? Worried wrong battery may have a low max discharge giving a weak start. Many thanks Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 I usually check the size then look for the highest rated battery that will fit into the available space. The factory spec can usually be improved on. 1 1 Quote
Solution Stu Posted December 4, 2022 Solution Posted December 4, 2022 I suspect that the specs are the recommended specs in the manual I would never go for smaller but nothing to stop you going larger Although the battery needs to fit in the holder and also have the correct orientation for the terminals Having said that I would get a battery that is recommended for your bike rather than trying to find one to fit Yuasa and Motobatt are good batteries you usually find motobatt specs are higher than recommended and their cold cranking amps is better AH is how much the capacity the battery has not how powerful it is cold cranking amps is the one to look at 1 1 Quote
billy sugger Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 +1 for motobatt and the extra CCA 2 Quote
onesea Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 Google is you friends someone will of experimented with batteries for your bike. Most on line places give battery sizes, make sure the terminals correct way round. I would go AGM Quote
