I'll tag the idea instigator when I remember.

Anyone clear lacqured their exhaust after polishing it? I've a fresh stainless system to fit and figured this may keep it clean and half shiney for a good while

I used to fit wood burning stoves and the paint we used on them is rated to 800 degrees. This clear coat is also rated to 800.

I do understand that the turbo guys / those sat at 75%+ RPM for ages may end up temps exceeding those. Foe the average rider? Personally I reckon it would be fine to do / use.

It think your problem might be curing it, or more to the point, the can end. The blurb at the bottom of the pages says "Heat the lacquered part for 30-60 minutes at 160°C".  Not sure how you'd easily do that without an oven.

I'll give it some thought. I do have a powder coaters close to me who I'm sure would bake it for me.

Surely applying it , fitting the exhaust and starting it would bake it  … go for a 30 minute ride ?.

Dunno. Wouldn't that also bake in road crap and incinerated insects? I know the state my exhaust is in after a ride.

Well I'm still waiting to pass my test etc so part of this is to give me something to tinker with in preparation.

I'm unfamiliar with how this will fit but couldn't I fit the exhaust so everything is in the correct position, remove in one piece and drop it with the powder coat place?

I'm really not trying to insist this will work but figured it could be a half easy way to at least have an exhaust with an easy surface to clean etc

By all means if this is nonsense do say so

You're now nominated the forum guinea pig 🙂

Worst can happen is won't work and you will have to remove it.

They would im sure they would prefer it as smaller pre fit parts sl they can hang/hook it any how they thing it’s best,  you can be sure you coated all of it. plus it would be easier to transport it there and back.
You could take pictures first before you do it. The only part that you may noob up on it being the wrong way is the mid section.

Powder coating places will put far larger bits than that exhaust through so that won't be a problem. Make sure you block up the lambda sensors so you don't crud the threads. You may need to clean off a bit of lacquer where the end can refits., they are snug.

Have you considered cerakote?

Why bother with a stainless system? At some stage the lacquer will deteriorate and you'll have a right mess to clean it up. I'd just leave the stainless system to do what they already do very well.
