Evening all, after searching for days I’ve finally found the helmet I want.

Only problem is they stopped selling it years ago!

Does anyone know where I can find it? It has to be brand new, not interested in anything used. I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find anything (looks like it was discontinued in 2021).

I really hope I can find one, if not I’ll continue to look for something else!

It’s the AGV K3 SV Wow model (as far as I’m aware!)

Depends if it’s to actually wear or just to have on a shelf to look at.

If they stopped selling it years ago the helmets will be old now, they do have a shelf and service life, which if this was to be worn I’d say look at something else.

Thanks for everyone's replies.

After speaking to my friend today (who is a long term biker) he's advised that I go and try some different brands on before making a choice for fitment etc.

Going to pick my boots up on Friday so I'll hold off ordering my helmet for now until I've tried a few makes and see what fits best.

This is good advice; with a helmet, proper fit is everything. Also ask for help from someone in the shop; they'll help work out which ones fit you the best.

A few years ago I had a yen for an AGV helmet but fortunately i tried them on. One size left my chin feeling crushed.  The next size up was so loose it was dangerous. Try helmets on.

He actually said similar but with his forehead being crushed but on the next size up it was too loose on his cheeks.

Definitely glad I asked as I wouldn't have had a clue they would differ so greatly.

Thank you for the advice.

They have a triangle sort of shape to there fitment.

there are other types of head, round and square heads as the Japanese like to refers to, you may find your either a shoie or an Arai fitting. Other brands are somewhat around or between them.

Years ago I had 2 or 3 AGV’s then all of a sudden didn’t fit any more, apparently shell shape had changed. So had HJC  then Shoei and now Shoei are my go to helmet. They just suit me but not everyone. @R9XDG You must go and try different ones on.

I bought a HJC Dennis the Menace Beano Helmet in 2003, £180 (also a Hein Geriche Leather jacket) just after my 1st CBT. Thought it would look cool (and it does)

Car packed in so had to fix that which used DAS and deposit money..

HJC is still in box but I wouldn't use it as glue degrades etc making it not as safe.

I now use an LS2 Scope in white. (very boring)

Flip front, built in sun visor, removable cushioning for washing, closable air vents, quick release fastener, pin lock, top euro safety rating... £120.

If I was to have bought a similar specked lid when I bought my HJC it would have been over £500 (Probably Caberg or similar) easy. That's 2003 prices.

My point is a helmet is first and foremost your primary life saving bit of equipment. Make sure it fits. Looks come secondary.

Its not the glue but the eps layer (styrofoam) and shell that degrade and if its really bad then the threads and security pin for the neck straps that are the worry.

agree.

the helmet can be the most expensive of your set. but take in mind a helmet price of a£600-1000 doesn’t or will instantly make it a better one than a £100-400 one soley by its price alone nor safety.

Anyone else feel claustrophobic in full face helmets that don't flip up? I tried one the other day which fit great but made me feel as if I was down a very tight pothole.

Ive forgotten what a full face is like.. it must be well over 15 years since I last owned one and there is zero temptation to get another. I wouldn't mind one thats a higher quality though.  but there are so many things on my 'to get' list an expensive helmet is pretty low down on the priority agenda.

Although my full face is more comfy than my flip, I always revert to the flip. HJC i90.

I have the i90 but recently wore my full face HJC and found it much comfier too. The i90 is more useful when in garages, at the eurotunnel etc and I can wear glasses where with the full face I tend to wear contact lenses.

It's a bugger to shut, I either slam it, or put one hand behind whilst pushing it shut with the other.

Sounds like another load of unnecessary faffing (or twisted shell/components ?) to do if you have to be that aggressive with it to do the sole purpose/feature that you bought it to do….maybe it needs reset its mechanism if possible or taken back?

It's the first helmet I bought after 24 years, so.... I doesn't fit 😂 It's just slightly too big, if I slam it, it moves down my face. It's not massive on my head though.

At least I'll be able to make sure the next one is the right fit.

A bit, yes. I always have the visor up until I'm on the bike and riding down the street. Somehow it doesn't feel claustrophobic when I'm riding though. I guess my mind is on the riding, and forgets about the helmet.

I have a flip up, too, but the full face is quieter so I prefer it.

I find full face seem to crush my face and give me a headache after a hundred miles or so. Don't find them any quieter than my Shoei Neotec 2.

It been a couple of years since I tried a flip as i was replacing the old aria but I found most full faces worst at the front for fit -use either so much padding it was like being smuthered or shot out like a tomato, shells so big and heavy looking like a bobble head /funko figurine.

what i hoped I looked like:

What i actually looked like with a flip.
