Anyone watched any of the latest ‘Long Way’ series?
RantMachine replied to Slowlycatchymonkey's topic in Motorbike Chat
I think I'd sooner re-watch the old ones to be honest! -
Don't know if anyone else was watching closely but I had a reminder set in my calendar for today, because Kawasaki were supposed to be unveiling these new-for-2021 bikes... Was especially excited what with rumors floating around of a KLR update to rival things like the Ténéré 700! Bit of a disappointment when it turned out to just be a few variants of the KLX with a slightly bigger engine and a couple of updated ZX10 models. Unless the sixth bike in that image turns out to be something good, I think they overhyped this one a little!

List of landmarks and which turn to take when I see them, taped to the fuel tank. That's been my method for finding every TMBF rally I've ever been to and it never failed.

Good evening!

I'm with XTreme on this. Boorman gets way more crap than he deserves and anyone mad enough to take part in the Dakar deserves at least some modicum of respect for it - and if there's anything that's making me not fancy watching this it's the electric bike aspect.

Yeah to be fair I could definitely go for traveling back and wrecking a bunch of stuff to see what happens to the present. I'm fairly convinced this is already the stupidest timeline so what's the worst that can happen.

Take the Delorian, go back a few decades, buy a crapton of Amazon and Apple stock, live like a king once you get back to the modern day and just buy all the others. Back To The Future was made in 85 so even with a limit of not going back before the machine was made, you're good.

Definitely was always my assumption that they set such a short schedule because the bikes needed it! Between services and bits randomly breaking, mine was at the dealers pretty much every saturday without fail until we had a rather colorful falling out and I started doing it myself. NE150N80 : Realistically - yes, a Lexmoto should be enough to get you through your CBT. And honesty, in between the breakdowns (and everyone else taking the piss), I had fun on mine! But in my experience they're unreliable as hell, the constant servicing is a headache, and the resale value is pitiful. Best off writing it off and getting the insurance for it like I did! I bought an old CG125 a few years after as a run around, paid roughly half what the Lexmoto cost, and had every bit as much fun with a fraction of the headaches. And then when I left the UK I sold it to MrFro for almost what I bought it for, if I remember rightly(?). And it's still going strong for him! Absolutely would recommend an old used Japanese over a new Lexmoto any day.

Oh wow, quite a lot has been changed up on that one! Looks a lot sleeker than they usually do. I was jus talking about the license plate; KX13 EBM was my old one. Figured it'd be funny if it was the same one that ended up with you; there are only a few dozen on the roads, after all.

The Haynes Chinese 125cc Motorcycles manual is seriously vague/generic; nowhere near as helpful as the average Haynes but honestly they do a good enough job of including such broad knowledge and information that it'll be pretty handy no matter what Chinese 125 you have. Mine absolutely wasn't on the list on the book, but with the help of the occasional pointer from folks on here, I still managed to make good use of it!

Top Box. Worth it?
RantMachine replied to 125cc's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Bloody heck, and it didn't backflip as soon as you put any weight in it?! -
If Sinnis have got any sense (which is questionable) they'll make replacement exhausts for that bike cost almost as much as the bike itself, because holy crap is it going to ground out something rotten the second someone gets it in their head to take it off road. They could make a fortune in spares!

Ooooooooooooooh I can help here Well, bit late to the party. Pretty darn good odds that it will be the solenoid! The solenoid on the Lexmoto Lowride is that it's in a really crap spot; rain that runs off the seat goes down the inside of the side panel and pools inside the little plastic holder that the solenoid fits into. So you can keep replacing them but they'll keep crapping out on you! On mine I improvised a little rain shield to go over it, so that said water would run harmlessly off it instead of pooling inside the casing. Never had to replace it again after doing that! But I think I replaced it three times before having the idea Also, question: It's not KX13 EBM, is it? There aren't many of those on the roads so I figure there's a chance!

Thanks Everyone! (Well maybe less so Tiggie and Six30) Still got a good few hours of birthday left on this side of the pond

I'd put a vote in for getting a filter coffee maker. You can pick one up for fifty quid or so, and they make a decent coffee far more consistently than a french press. Added bonus, keeps the coffee warm for a while too.

And even without getting into the Chinese bike stuff, Lexmoto are just shite company. Their warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on, and the dealers in their network are a bunch of shameless cowboys. And going back to the Chinese bike stuff... trust me, you'll find yourself trying to rely on the dealers and the warranty a whole lot if you buy Lexmoto. Not just for the reliability but also for the ridiculously small service intervals. I don't exaggerate when I say I literally spent every single weekend going to the dealer either for a repair or a service.

Pretty darn swish! Nice work. But, the walls are lacking in insulation; sound proofing probably isn't great. For that reason you only score 4 out of 5 Fritzls.

I've browsed this thread a good half dozen times since it was started, and yet somehow I'm still surprised and disappointed every single time to find that it isn't just about Six30.

I do miss TFC & TF2, can you still play these on modern laptops ? I've lost track as I use linux but I'd be tempted to reformat the windoze partition to a newer version if I could play these games. On a rainy day I'd stick on Badlands Not sure about TFC, but definitely yes on TF2. Although I warn you, the community has gone pretty far south!
-
Honestly that "they've come a long way in recent years" line gets used all the time, it's rarely backed with any proof, and none of said proof ever applies to Lexmoto who are a cut price cut throat bunch of cowboys

Textbook Team Fortress right there.

I had a Lexmoto. The carb was crap The tyres were crap The paint was crap The metal was crap The electrics were especially crap The warranty was useless The dealership was hopeless Still had fun with it, but definitely would have had a lot more fun if I'd bought something that didn't have to be taken for the dealer for a dubious warranty repair or service literally every weekend. Seriously, the service intervals on those things are absolutely tiny and you can see why when you see how often they break down. And as Tiggie said, resale will be pants. If you're really lucky someone will just run it off the road and you'll get a decent insurance payout like I did, otherwise you're going to be selling it for 1/5th of what you paid for it. Get the KTM, have awesome fun, never look back!

Thanks I guess! You should get that checked.

YEEEEEES I don't even want to know how many hours I've sunk into TF2. Enough that I've reset my stats a few times so my loading screen doesn't make me feel bad about how I've spent my life I've got a video somewhere of a game where I was a spy pretending to be an enemy engineer in my teams base & an enemy spy pretending to be one of our snipers appeared, after both of sneaking around together for a bit I stabbed him. Suppose you had to be there now I re read that I appreciated the humor of it I used to love using the Cloak and Dagger in combination with a custom spray that says "Hey enemy engineer, I'm right by you", spray it while invisible then run off and leave the engineer alive but wildly ineffective while he runs around flailing at the air with his wrench while you find a medic to stab
