1. I don't understand then. You've not seen one and don't understand how it works. I have the same light on the same bike and am explaining how it goes together and offering info on an easy upgrade as a solution to the "I've lost all the bits off the back" problem.
2. If you look at the penultimate pic there"s a cut out in the hole at about 11 o'clock. The tab of the holder locates in that. There's then a spring that goes from about 4 o'clock on the holder to that little sticky outy holey thing in the bottom right of the rear of the reflector. I'll take some pics tomorrow and you'll see what I'm banging on about.
3. Have you not seen one before then?
4. I feel honoured.
5. Stu - thanks for the banner but blue on orange? It's making my eyes hurt!
6. Yeah, will do. Maybe tonight but probably Wednesday.
7. Have you still got the spring? You can update the gash oem bulb for a standard 472 car bulb with very minor modifications.
8. Finally finished painting cabinets and drawers that will be part of the new lathe stand/storage thing. Just got to wait for them to harden off and then I can make up the frame...
9. Nah, I'm not seeing it mate. What bits have you done or did it take you the whole 2 weeks to get the top box off?
10. Wait, yes, roll off (although I am so mightily skilled that I would never miss a speed zone )
11. Who was it a while back who biked down to their holiday destination while the wife flew? Sounds like the ideal solution to me.

Bandit Woes

I've had luck on stuff like that by hammering in slightly oversized torx bits.
13. My mother has come up to stay for the weekend. Joy.
14. Interesting thread Bob, thanks for starting it. Reading what's been said has made me think about a lot of things that have happened in my life. I did start typing it all out but realised that a) no one really wants to hear that shite, b) the only people who know some of it is wife and those involved. Thus, if anyone else I knew read certain bits then there would be quite serious issues. Finally, c) I don't think I would actually get anything constructive from it so I'll keep what's happened in the past and leave it locked away in a box somewhere at the back of my mind. Maybe that makes me strong or weak, who knows but hats off to you for sharing your stories. Certainly I can say that now I have children I find some of my past stuff incomprehensible and can only resolve to keep them out of harm's way and do my best to make sure they know that they are loved without question.
15. Scientific equipment suppliers & manufacturers are pure piss takers... [story] I used to work for a large pharma company and we had a few bits of kit from a supplier (>£1m each). These instruments used bespoke consumables which were around £300 a pop - we used 30 a day. 30 a day. Because we were a big company, published papers showcasing their equipment and spent an outrageous amount of money with them, they gave us a "special" price on the consumables, apparently 25% discount. Now, when the site closed a few of us looked at buying the equipment from our employer and setting up a spin off. Over an "executive lunch" with their head honcho, the subject if consumable pricing came up as it would be out main expenditure. I asked if we could get the same price - he said he could do better no problem. He let slip that before they gave the 25% discount, they inflated the price by the same amount - simply because that's what they knew they could get away with. [/story] That my friend is why they are fuzzy about pricing.

3D printing

Yowzer! I've not used them for a few months so it looks like they've put it up a bit. If you don't have any luck elsewhere, I might be able to get one of the lads as school to knock it up.

Shocking...

Just deny all knowledge.
21. It's not the money, it's having to listen to Jim pounding away at Uhura in the next cabin night after night.
22. Wotcha going to do with the old pistons and barrels? I want to try boring out on my mill you see.

Shocking...

There are soooooo many sparktards out there it's unreal. The previous owners of my place took just about everything with them including light fixtures and switches. They did replace some with ultra cheap Wilko specials but the rest they just left the wires poking out of the wall. Plus extra bonus, they removed a garden "feature" and left the wires sticking up in the middle of the lawn. When I got round to sorting it, I found the wire lashed in the back of a socket in the conservatory and instead of using armoured cable, they'd threaded 1.5mm T&E through some garden hose and buried it less than an inch in the lawn.
24. Scientist by profession but my qualifications are engineering. I've been developing scientific equipment for the past 7-8 years and am hoping to move over to do that full time once I can pull a reasonable and reliable wage from it.
