  1. Polarised glasses are good for that. Difficult to see a digital dash with them though.
  2. Your bike looks the proper tool for the job though!
  3. Should have got the skateboard out! On the gender stereotyping; I agree that many people would rather pay someone else to do a simple job than get their hands dirty - just look at Halfords with their "fitting" offer - £4 odd for a wiper blade that takes less than a minute. Sex is irrelevant in that case. I'm hugely proud or Mrs Fro, she's been very successful in a male dominated field. She showed me a drone vid of one of her construction sites the other day and it's bloody massive - scores of blokes building away. Plus she can do bits and bobs to her car when it needs it however I still do them for her because I want to save her the hassle - does that make me gender prejudice or just a nice bloke? On the original subject; I'd weigh up whether my intervention was necessary and justifiable before I waded in and also if on balance I was going to come out on top. I've been in situations where I had to get stuck in even though I was almost positive I'd lose and they weren't that pleasant. A lot of people simply don't know what to do when a situation develops - if things start getting frisky a lot of people lose all sense of themselves or freeze up - I've seen it happen any number of times so they can't really be blamed. Oh, and the wife has never made me a sponge but I know I can make a decent cake. [/massive wall of text]
  4. What's the drag like on the cable and is the lever a bit loose and floppy or firm to use?
  5. If you know the plug caps to be original then go by the owners manual - Haynes are not always correct.
  6. So why can't you get non-resistor plugs? BP7ES throws up loads of results on Google...

    Watch your Back!

Erm... Ollie... Have you met your wife? Oh, and I'd "do" Queenie's crib for £369.8 million.
  8. I'm using a selection of 5 and 10ml syringes. I tried a large gauge needle to start with but the VG is too thick. I'm back working in Great Abington so I'm just up the road - it'd be good to see what I'm doing wrong!
  9. I got the stuff from vapable and chefs kitchen (I got Capella) and I did add the EM. Even with loads of regular shaking there's still a small amount of separation.
  10. It was rough as a tramps toothbrush! Something went bandy as it separated after it had been standing and emulsified when I shook it. I'm making up 10 or 15ml trial batches and chuck the occasional crap batch. I find leaving the made up stuff open on the water cylinder for a couple of days helps take the harshness out of them.
  11. It's a '95. I was a bit disappointed earlier - I can get just about everything used or reconditioned except forged pistons - getting on for £600 for a set. I'm guessing it'll be about the same again for the rest of the bits plus a set of gaskets for the engine rebuild. I'm running 109bhp at the wheel at the moment so it would be good to see near double that. Not going to get that running standard pistons with low boost!
  12. I like the Vids you put up and what you've done with the ZXR. The extended swing arm isn't my thing but the bits you've made and improvised are great! I have a Finnish friend who tells me that's quite normal in Finland. My ZXR is getting a full strip this winter and I'm going to have a go at a turbo if I can find the parts at a reasonable price. It would be good to see what your next lot of mods are!

    Ick problem

Good point DRZ - could have spat the spark plug out or something.
  14. Same here, if there's someone behind me I pass my house and go around the block somewhere up the road.
  15. Peace and quiet. Sod Christmas etc.
  16. Thanks chaps, I'll get down to B&Q for some of that stuff. Just got to wait for the other half of the roof to be done first though...
  17. What is it they say about workmen and tools? Tokicos are fine so long as you don't mind unbolting them and jiggling them about mid-bleed. Reverse bleeding with a syringe is my current favorite way of doing brakes. Why bother trying to force trapped air upwards when it's much easier to push it upwards?
  18. I guess we'll see what happens. Fundies quote mine the shit of of anything that even remotely supports their cause so (same as Brexit) it's difficult to know what to trust. Trump has shown himself to be an A-1 chickenhawk with the "bomb the shit out of them" remark. The "pro-life" stance really doesn't sit well with me along with the rest of the bigoted stuff. Clinton has come across just as badly as far as I can tell, just not as openly as Trump. I think it could be of economic interest to the UK as long as we don't get overly chummy and start doing extra "favours" for the US to allow us to shift some interests from the EU to them. If I was an alien I'd be kicking up my feet, grabbing a bag of salt and vinegar and settling in to watch the global show.
  19. Looks like we're not the only country to royally f**k ourselves lately.
  20. I know you had the tops off the carbs but have you looked in the bowls? They're easy enough to drain in situ with a bit of plastic tube and a long screwdriver/hex key (whichever you have). Collect the fuel from the bowls in a jar or something - if there are any bit of crud in there then you'll need to take the carbs off and clean them out. Probably stick a filer in the fuel line too.
  21. The ongoing saga of the garage extension continues! I was having a look at the site today and found a few of the existing joists have got woodworm. I think they've come from next doors crap store (garages are side by side and the joists go all the way through both). They're not mega bad but I want to treat them with some stuff so can anybody recommend something to spray on to kill the buggers and stop them coming back? Don't really want to call Rentokill as the budget has already gone tits up. Cheers, Fro
  22. I was given an old Aldi or Lidl special a little while back - it's only a tiddler (2.5hp - 50L) but is fine for popping the beads and little jobs like that. I don't expect it'd be much good for a windy gun or spraying. Check the free air delivery and Max pressure on the tools you want to use and see if your intended compressor will handle it. Plenty to choose from if you don't mind a second hander from eBay.
  23. Did that with my Fluke - bloody £18 for a new fuse!
  24. But if I hadn't have gone to buy the back protector, I probably wouldn't have crashed my bike!
