  1. Dodgy switch? Is it the same with both from and rear brake?
  2. You won't increase the power significantly by only changing the exhaust.
  3. You have permission.
  4. True. Still after a set of wets though.
  5. Yesterday's nob is an ebayer with whom I'd made a deal for some wet tyres. Communication was fine and we fixed a time for me to pick them up after work. I was just about to set off for the 3 hour round trip when I got a message saying he'd just flogged them to someone else.
  6. All booked for the 13th.
  7. Hello matey. Whereabouts in Eastern Europe are you? For your wonky wheel... Have you checked a manual or such to check you've got all the right spacers and stuff and that the handlebars aren't bent? If you have, (with the bike on the centre stand) you could try loosening the bolts around the axle and the yolk clamps at the top of the forks, give everything a wiggle and tighten things back up a bit at a time i.e. everything finger tight, then a couple of turns, then fully tight. If that doesn't work you might need to have the forks off (maybe apart) to check they're straight.
  8. I might be on my hols then so gong to book for 13th.
  9. I think Mark should be the TMBF candidate for PM.
  10. Alright matey. Rust in the fuel system can be an issue. You could try citric acid solution or electrolysis to remove it.
  11. I have half a pack of those custard creams and after extensive research can confirm that they are delicioso.
  12. I've had a Yale battery powered house alarm on garages before which have been quite good - open sensors on the doors and a PIR inside covered pretty much every eventuality. If you've got an up and over door you can wedge a plank of wood against it so it can't be opened without distructivising it. I'm currently of the mind that if you've got a low security door (i.e. up and over) with loads of external locks on display then you're telling the crooks there's something flash inside which is why I use internal stuff only.
  13. Jolly good idea Ollie. I've not had much time to get anything sorted either. Plus, having a start of season challenge/meet/catastrophe would be a chuckle.
  14. Use a small gauge.
  15. Tricky isn't it. I have a trailer which I adapted from a caravan base. I made it in such a way that it comes apart for easy storage - probably cost £200 by the time I was finished. Then it was another couple of hundred for the towbar kit. I can get all my gear on the car (just) and undoubtedly it would be more practical to have a van however I don't want another vehicle or to use a van as a daily driver. I ruled out van hire as it works out quite expensive in the mid/long term and it would be considerably more difficult to get the bike in the back single handed than on the trailer. My track bike has a daylight MOT which is okay but there have been a few times I've had to duck out of a meet or something early to avoid riding in the dark. Plus you end up spoiling your expensive track tyres. The solution would be to have yet another set of wheels for road tyres and a quick change streetfighter kit/road fairings but that's more time and money. My insurance on the track bike isn't that much as I have it under a multi bike policy with the road one - think it's about £250 for both and I only tax it for half the year so really it's not a huge amount.
  16. Tuks - much to my shame I don't really ride on the road so much nowadays for exactly the reasons you state. It seems a waste to get all the gear on and hop on a sports bike just to bimble to work or something. I bought a track bike after a couple of track days as I didn't want to knack my zx6r. At least I know that if I stuff it then I've not thrown loads of money away. If you hunt about you can pick track bikes up fairly cheaply but you need to add in the other stuff like a trailer/van hire, genny, tyre warmers etc. I think CC, our resident track hooligan, has ditched road riding completely although I like the fact that I can still go for a blast if I want to.
  17. Either that or the rear wheel is out of whack. What's the tyre like? I've had a couple of Bridgestones that weren't quite right around the edge - they sort of... undulated.
  18. Then you've got crap gloves! I keep a few pre-mixes for the chainsaw and such in old squash and milk bottles - all is well. If in doubt just put a splash of fuel in the bottle and leave it overnight.
  19. You offering to lead? Please, please, please borrow some flashy whoo-woos if you're going to lead.
  20. I like the calendar - can't see the weekends on my mobile though.
  21. The Sun. A-hahahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!
  22. Don't know about payment options but I used Wayne Bell who runs Gas Monster http://www.gasmonster.co.uk/. He's not the cheapest but he is bloody good and a first rate chap. He doesn't dick about and won't try and flog you stuff you don't need. He installed a new boiler for me when I was in Linton - the mains gas tap thing went tits up half way through the job but he replaced it and sorted some other bits without charging me extra. He also did a friends boiler and bathroom on my recommendation and they were chuffed with his work. I had 3 quotes to fit a new boiler including a new flue and gas line (I'd already done all the pipes and wiring). 1) £1800 from some bloke who didn't pass the personality test. 2) £2100 Gas monster 3) £3400 British Gas BG also wanted to charge me to take away the scrap copper in my back garden. I got £160 for taking it to the scrappy 3 minutes down the road...
  23. I had all the hand tools I need so I started on the power tools of which I now have some duplicates. Then I started on welding/metalwork stuff - MMA then MIG then TIG and all the associated gubbins. I just got a couple of lab grade benches (1500x750 each) and am on the lookout for a pillar drill, lathe and milling machine. Low and behold I can barely move in my garage now so I'm having that doubled in size. No doubt I'll discover some other equipment that I need shortly after that happens. Moral of the story: once you've got a full deck you'll just move on to the bigger, better toys.
  24. Unlucky man. I know how you feel - I'm being made redundant due to site closure. I'm out the door on Wednesday but luckily start a new job the following Monday. Keep looking and punting your CV out or better yet, go and press the flesh. Have you got any contacts who can put in a word with their firm?
