  1. Were you using flux cored wire on those? It looks like you've got very little fusion on a couple of those eyes - I'd be concerned that they might pop off.
  2. Materials have gone chicken oriental. It cost me a grand for the shed materials, it's costing another grand for 18 metres worth of fence panels, posts and gravel boards when they can get them.
  3. I got offered a nice engineering job yesterday so I'm finally getting out of science.
  4. Handed in my notice today... It feels good.
  5. An ex girlfriend found some jonnies in my biker jacket. They were for waterproofing my satnav too.
  6. It's thermodynamics exam day - Yaaaaay! 5 years of learning condensed in to a nice 3 hour exam. I just can't wait!
  7. Have you got another joke for the younger generation?
  8. This was supposed to be "mid oak" or something. I tried exo creosote but it was absolute guff - I would have preferred something quite a bit darker.
  9. I gave my old lid (must have been knocking 20 years old) to my uni for them to chop in half and smash the shit out of. All in the name of science.
  10. Yeah, we can't do that, someone might try and talk SCM in to coming back from flounce II and nobody wants that.
  11. How about that then? Just needs a few more coats of "hideous orange", a mortice lock or something and it's done.
  12. Still doing that facking shed inbetween rain and shooing the children away from the many types of power saws I had scattered round.
  13. I'm nowhere near as fit as I was 10 years ago! I am around 14 kg lighter though . I spent on average 16 hours a week in the gym or running back then and it's the weighted running that knackered my knee.
  14. Stuff like that goes down a black hole, only to turn up on the other side of the garage years later. Just think of it as having a spare... somewhere.
  15. Really, there is. 2020 generation capacity = 682.58 TWh, of which 298 TWh was green (hydro, solar, wind, biomass). 2020 consumption = 310 TWh. Total extra power requirements for all ICE cars to be replaced by EV = 140.4 TWh - this includes all power losses such as charging etc. The caveat is abnormal power demands such as enexpected freak weather events as mentioned previously. Data is available @ National Statistics - Digest of UK Energy Statistics (DUKES).
  16. Yesterday I followed what I presume was the GS owners club for a few miles. Total number of shoulder checks? Zero. Times indicators were used? Zero. Waft of overbearing middle-aged smugness? Off the funking scale.
  17. That's only the sale of ICE only vehicles, hybrids that use ICE will still be allowed until 2050. Not so, there is ample capacity in UK power generation to allow all cars in the UK to be electric. The problem would come if there was a "beast from the east" scenario - the extra power demands from a severe and prolonged cold snap would mean the UK would be able to meet the combined demand for vehicles and the extra needed for heating homes etc. I wouldn't mind giving an electric bike a go though.
  18. True, but after a few you might realise that instead of lifting the thing, you could simply lower the ground.
  19. Yes mate, just nip out and get us some bottles will you? Remind me never to invite you to a party.
