Rev'It Poseidon Jacket
raesewell replied to raesewell's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Getgeared were apologetic and said it had to go back to Rev'It and it might take four to six weeks so it looks like I'll be going to France in a couple of weeks time in my trusty old RST jacket. -
On the whole the Poseidon jacket is an excellent piece of kit, it kept me as dry as a bone on my recent trip to Spain in some very heavy rain. The venting system is very good. However on my way to meet my mate John to test the new headset yesterday I felt something flapping around my arm. I pulled over and on closer inspection I found the upper arm adjustment strap had broken away at the seam. Not something you expect from a £600 jacket. this is the good one http://preview.ibb.co/mR024Q/20170928_094132.jpg and here as you can see in the detached one http://preview.ibb.co/b2SUJk/20170928_094157.jpg So I am off to Getgeared Leeds to return it and see what they offer by way of a repair replacement or refund. I'll let you know.

I had a chance to do a partial test today. I met up with my mate John for a coffee and for the first time ever with a headset I had to turn the volume down a bit, the sound is crisp and clear. I tried the FM radio and the sound was good and had plenty of volume. I had to read the manual when I got home to find out how to change stations, I think I've got it now :-\ So far I like it, I'm still on a learning curve though.

Just get more practice, it'll come good.

The Sena 20S Evo units turned up today, very good service from Sportsbikeshop. This is what they looked like in the box. http://preview.ibb.co/bPNkOk/20170925_123011.jpg They came with lots of, foams, Velcro pads and leads. There are lots of fitting and adjustment options. http://preview.ibb.co/cu2Kik/20170925_123123.jpg So far I have only tried them in the house. The sound quality is better that the Scala G4s and the volume is louder by a fair bit. As with all new gadgets it will take a while to get used to all of the functions, but I have the phone, sat nav and intercom working, which is all I need for now. I will report further when I have something to report. I would like to try the range and will have to figure out how to do that, it might mean getting Melanie to wear her helmet in the car.

I bet that gave you a nice warm glow

We have had a set of Scala G4s for about five years now and they are getting a bit temperamental mine intermittently works on one speaker and Melanies battery doesn't always know when it's fully charged. So I have ordered a pair of Sens 20S Evo from Sportsbikeshop. They run a price match policy and I found a company selling them for £346, Sportsbikeshop price £399. I sent them the details for a price match and they came back to me telling me that the company was based in the Netherlands despite having a contact address in Poole Dorset and they only match UK sites. However they did give me a discount code reducing the price to £360. As I prefer to deal with UK based companies where possible, I used the code and am awaiting the arrival of the new units. I will report back when I have had time to assess their performance.

It is that, it's nice to be home but as I said we are off again in 3 weeks to France. It's all go this retirement lark.

We set off for Portsmouth on Friday 8th September and it was a very very wet journey down To Portsmouth, we had a couple of stops for coffee and lunch on the way. We waited about 30 minutes and then they started loading the bikes onto the ferry. We found ourselves a nice cosy spot for a beer once onboard. We were well out to sea when the ferry was delayed due to a medical emergency, a passenger had to be winched on to a helicopter for transport to hospital. I don’t know who it was or what was wrong but I wish them a speedy recovery. The rest of the journey was uneventful. We arrived in Santander at about 7 pm which was about an hour and a half later than expected. The heavens opened and the rain was like stair rods. We proceeded out of Santander at a very ginger pace just happy to follow the cars in front. Once at the hotel we checked in creating rather large puddles in the hotel foyer. The staff were very understanding and fantastic. After a shower and a change of clothes and a very cheap 3 course meal we found the bar. The following morning Llanes (Yanez) was bathed in sunshine as you can see here in this secluded cove Also in Llanes a poor selfie of us at the marina. We came across a group of Spanish bikers on a ride out. Here is the bike tucked up for the night in Navia. Sorry about the quality, but David Bailey I ain’t We set off from Llanes in light drizzle and it remained like that for the first hour or so. We stopped in Gijon for a coffee then decided to take the motorway for the rest of the journey. This was because we made poor progress on the first part of the journey mainly due to almost everyone in Spain driving everywhere at 15 mph. The penalty for speeding must be really harsh, birching, hanging or maybe a public flogging, who knows. The journey from Navia to Santiago de Compostela was very drizzly with a bit of fog thrown in for good measure. Not the weather you expect in Spain but hey ho, it’s dry in the bars. We did have some brighter weather as you can see here We moved on from Santiago de Compostela to Astoga and the weather perked up a bit as you can see above. This one is self explanatory I spotted a GTL whist there And in contrast a Chinese Harley look a like Also while in Astorga we met with Javier whom I met on the FJR forum. A really nice man and we both thoroughly enjoyed his company. A mountain shot on the way to Arenas de Cabrales, and another drizzly day interspersed with a bit of sunshine here and there. We spent a couple of days in Bilbao and I found a companion for the FJR in the underground car park. Outside the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao is this very big spider. In the true tradition of Sods Law once on the ferry the Bay of Biscay was bathed in glorious sunshine. Back in the UK we stopped off in Alton Hampshire to have a coffee with a very dear friend who took this photo for us. We are not done touring yet this year, in three weeks time we are off to France with Mike W and his wife for a few days. Thank you and I hope you enjoyed the write up.

Your Favourite Bike Kit

I made myself a set with the two part putty and they worked too well, all I could hear was the blood pulsing through my veins. It got on my nerves so I ditched them. -

A refreshing change to find someone that knows the difference between Brake and Break

I am not familiar with your bike so cannot help with the settings. Do you know the viscosity of the original oil? OK I've done a bit of digging and the original oil seems to be 35.48 Centistokes. Silkolene RSF viscosity is as follows 5W = 24.1 7.5W =35.1 10W =47.4 So as you can see the 7.5W is closest to original.
-
I'd be happy to help, just let me know the original recommended fork oil and whether you want harder or softer.

Could you post up a link to the B500 cafe/

You will most likely find that you won't use a lot of what you pack. Unless you have done it before, I have been on so many trips now I have packing down to a fine art.

I have my lights pointing towards the Tarmac but still turn them off when in France. I do have Bullet lights which stay on all the time.
