1. Nah, I meant what I said. If they rode proper bikes (ie shitty old bikes with old bits of rubber hose and float valves) then they'd understand. If they were out and about on new MT10s and whatnot they might still not understand. Anyway it's a bit moot as it is
2. If only enough MPs rode shitty old bikes.
3. Ha! Same trousers and jacket an' all. I have not shrunk. Thanks to the power of schnitzel I am now pregnant. Anyway. Last night. Call this number for a good time:
4. Blimey, nice work. In the bar already? I've stopped to take on tea. Not long now just got to get round the m25
5. Mmm fresh. Thanks for the well wishings. I'll have a pint for you bungers. Oh and gerontium I've given you a thumbs up just for the filename.
6. Just putting the mains back in. Only one at the wear limit though so all good
7. Not long now. Some tyres have appeared so I think I'll go get em fitted.
8. Of course. It's stapled to my passport, which is attached to my jacket with a chain.
9. I got sent some more 40% off main meal vouchers (beefeater) yesterday, it's like they remembered. So that's nice.
10. Ho ho just a few days to go now. It's time to get the full fever. I'm looking forward to a nice service stop at Spy.
11. It's not bad, wish it was mine but my mate doesn't seem to mind lending it out. I'll get him some chips Cleaned up well. The problem was a dry o ring on one of the plastic fuel inlet T pipes. But actually they were all ready to go. Soo new ones of those on, and it should all be OK... At this point I was thinking I hope this is how it's meant to go. But I didnt realise the games to come, the fun of getting the stacks in place whilst simultaneously trying to get the top plate back on was a good finisher to the game of squishing the carbs together, aligning some spacers and 3 different T pipes. Then I still had to squish the carbs onto the bike. Anyway, all that behind me... Not that badly out of sync to say theyve had a good fettle. Some melted knuckles later and voilà. Next: 150mph test ride
12. Bugger. Had the issue with the mix screws but after that plainish sailing, or so I thought. Got to the point where everything was hooked up, cables, fuel hose, air filter. Larvely jubbly. Key turned in the ignition, fuel pump pumping, starter motor motoring... Blub blub lub blub lubbbbblublblbub... Alright she works. And pisses petrol out all over the top of the engine, wooo. Rigged up the carbs off the bike in hope of getting a better view of the leak. Set the pump up with an extra battery to fill the bowls again but they didn't leak :/ So, back on the bike and try again. Pissed fuel out. Interesting. Split up the carbs time, nice.
13. Not sure why I'm doing it now, other than it's something to do, and my set of carbs is missing a trumpet which saddens me. Original carbs on the right from the 90-93 era and on the left the 94-97 era carbs to go on. (Note the missing trumpet on the older set, which wiggled its way loose and snapped its locating tabs off somewhere on a trip to the bottom of Spain) The later carbs are flat slide, and have a smaller gob (34mm vs 36mm) which is sad as bigger is better. Nevermind. Might make up for it with huge jets though. Heh heh. OK they have different attributes so can be smaller and flow alright. To do this swap you need: A set of carbs, durrrr And also off the later bike: Airbox, they are different although the filter and filter cover is the same (the snorkel is different too) Throttle pull and push cables (old ones are shorter, because it uses the front carb as the master, later uses the rear) Probably choke cable, though mine was knackered anyway. But the later one is definitely a smidge longer Intake mounting rubbers, these are slightly different. Additional annoyance is the throttle stop adjuster. This is longer on the later bike and 'cobbles up' when you fit it in the position of the early bike and try to make an adjustment. This would be fine if you could simply use the shorter adjuster off the early carbs, but the old uses M4x0. 7 and the new, M5x0.8. Hmmm Pull cables on the bottom, throttle stops in the middle and the new close/push cable at top but I didn't yet get the old one out for comparison. Later cables at bottom, old above. Later snorkel on the left, old on right. I've just fitted the cables for now but am waiting for a set of float bowl seals before I crack on because they were a bit perished.
14. That's nice not being back til the Wednesday, though I'm glad I don't work Sundays as it's normally just about enough to warm up after the guaranteed cold rainy stint off the train to up Norf. The rokstraps are alright, I'll be lashing my stuff on with them also. I've had a delivery too, a set of cables for the new carbs, should have a go at fitting them tonight. Have you managed to shift that beamer yet Mr GOATy?
15. Voltage meter to keep an eye out on how the charging business is doing - this was after a spate of burnt out coils and rectifiers.
16. There are some twats about ey. Sometimes I forget, but always get the odd reminder.
17. I've just booked a twin at the Premier Inn at Ashford Eureka Park for £52. No secure parking mind, although I've been staying there most years with a bunch who ride those big money GS things and nones been nicked so far so it's not too bad.
18. It's not very rife round my way (touch laminate desk), but then I'm on the new estate and nothing interesting would dare happen there. Though recently I did hear about balaclava man wandering round during the day eying up shit old sheds for their garden rakes and old tins of pretend creosote. I don't think he was too bright and the rozz picked him up. Still, I might start a bumble bee hive in mine, got to be better than a dog by the sounds of it. Surely scrotes posting on Instagram aren't career crimers, OP your setup sounds safe enough, just get rid of facey and live happy - out of sight, out of mind, ignorant bliss. Buy some Thatcham approved bees, it's what we're all doing.
19. Is that not a waste of good bees? When I first read bee suit... Angry bee
20. It's a bit iffy whether they work or not fastbob. Nyloc, threadlock or those all steel locking nuts ftw. I'm not certain but sometimes at least I think suspender bolts are made of higher grade than yer standard 8.8 bolt, likely 10.9 which is why the ft/lb setting is higher than others of similar size. Also japanese bolts are stamped with a 10 if they're grade 10 (I think). I've struggled to find anything higher rated than an 8.8 nyloc, whereas the all steel lockers can be had in 10.9 Nice find on the cheaper ones, they are tricky swines to get hold of. Luckily the local bike shop had a hand full of used ones last time I needed any.
