  1. It's part 15 but this probably won't help you find exactly where it is , near the front somewhere so in the fairing I would guess.
  2. Maybe I was right , it hasn't got one .
  3. Is it at all possible that it hasn't got one ?
  4. I believe these are known as Deans Connectors .
  5. These are probably the best ( least shit ) ones on eBay right now . https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/kawasaki-er5-exhaust-clamps/123300670374?epid=651260492&hash=item1cb54aeba6:g:m-4AAOSwyCNbbDLk
  6. Nah... Can't do the raised up bit.
  7. Yep , steel , thanks .
  8. And that conclusively answers my question ! Thanks mate .
  9. No chance, sorry , the ones on my ER5 are so corroded ( or should that be eroded ? ) that they look like something salvaged from a Spanish galleon. The ones that came attached to my spare engine ( see old bikes and restorations ) are however, in far better condition. And you ain't having them . I can help though, somewhere on another forum I have seen an application list of bikes that use the same clamps as an ER5. I'll try to find it and I'll stick it on here as a screenshot if I can .Got it ....not much here that you dont already know about .https://www.partzilla.com/product/kawasaki/18069-1122
  10. A quick question, does anyone know whether a cylinder BASE gasket , not the head gasket , has to be made from special material or can I get away with cutting out one from standard gasket paper ? This is for my ER5. Thanks.
  11. That's a fair comment but what is beginning to get annoying is that in many cases like this the OP makes one post without reading the suggested requirements and then is never heard from again . Most of the advice given here is good advice . It's a simple mechanism that anyone ought to be able to understand if they made a little effort . I know what you're saying mate.....but some people do just make one post and we never hear from them again.....it's just the way it is unfortunately. Yeah, I learnt from books and mates......mainly because the Internet didn't exist back then...... I'm an engineer, so I have a natural aptitude for this sort of thing, but some people are not blessed with this skill.....but maybe with a bit of help they can develop the skills......A Haynes manual can only teach you so much..... Shouldn't that read " I have a natural aptitude for this sort of thing , so I'm an engineer" ? ⚙🛠
  12. Very good point, and if he has followed Grumpy's and Speedy's advice and got stuck in as recommended by others then he's probably been riding around all week and has forgotten the whole thing.
  13. Hi Tango - see where you're coming from, but I seem to recall that the way most of us learned was to buy the book, read the book, try to understand the book.......and then get the tools out. If you don't understand how something works, then you will never learn how to repair it. And taking things apart - and putting them back together again afterwards - is one of the best ways that I know of learnng how to understand something. Or borrow it from the library if you're tight fisted like me ! My genuine manual is a free PDF on my phone.

  15. Hmmm, I'm not so sure , a CG based Chinese engine has push rods . If it has an overhead cam its more likely to be based on a Suzuki GN engine and will have different mounting points.
  16. I made my own alternator gasket this evening, took a while but I have to say I'm quite chuffed with myself . Now all I have to buy is a cylinder base gasket and a head gasket instead of a full set . If anyone wants to know how its done , let me know . I couldn't find a cornflakes packet so I had to use gasket paper instead.
  17. Hello? Isn't this just a teeny-weeny clue as to what's going on? Why is it sticking? Have fun. S23 I'm beginning to think that people are living in some kind of virtual world where the first impulse is to reach for a keyboard instead of the spanners . Whatever happened to the idea of taking something apart , figuring out how it works , giving it a tap with a hammer or a dab of grease and putting it back together again ?
  18. Hello and welcome . When you say you have checked it do you mean that you have taken it completely apart and cleaned, inspected and lubricated all the components ? Have you tried adjusting the pull rod ? If you do this it should be fairly easy to see what's causing the problem and equally easy to fix it . If you are really stuck, some pictures would be helpful. Good luck.
  19. I'm confused, this is a seven year old thread . I thought CBX 750s all died of cam chain tensioner failure years ago . For one to have survived it must have been well looked after.
  20. The first 25 pages of my ER5 Haynes manual are entitled Routine Maintenance and Servicing and very informative they are too .Full of good general advice and "Haynes Hints " I'm sure that their Chinese Motorbike manual will have an equally good section as well .
  21. Nah , no joy , Chrome isn't available for windows. I'm going to have to go back to android I guess but I really like windows. I use Chrome on my windows PC at home and at work. Maybe the phone is more restricted. Time to get a decent phone, or rather one with a decent operating system. You're right, I've just become so comfortable with this one.
  22. So everything is going good , I've got a working gear box after all , tight primary chain, and the cam chain is also good . Cam lobes aren't pitted and everything rotates quietly and smoothly. At this stage I can find nothing to suggest that this bike was scrapped due to engine issues. The final job will be the barrels and pistons . I will probably go for a light hone and new rings as a matter of course. I may also lap the valves and even replace the springs if necessary. I'm not going to start this until I have a gasket set so in the meantime I have been tidying up the exterior.
  23. Mike , that's what they were telling me but I actually don't know what this means . Bear in mind my only device is my windows phone. Windows will default to their own browser, Explorer or Edge depending on your system. It's a while since I used a Windows phone but when I had one I just searched for Chrome and downloaded the app, then used that to access the internet. It solved a lot of problems. Nah , no joy , Chrome isn't available for windows. I'm going to have to go back to android I guess but I really like windows.
