cb radio

Used to be able to listen in to local force on the old vhf home radios and even early on on fm radio used to be about 97.mhz area if i remember correctly
2. Used to be used on all metal piped systems but think the advent of rubber based hoses and synthetic based seals etc it became less and less wether this is due to it reacting with these am unsure You could consider non aerosol based brake and clutch cleaner (used on pipes to clean internals etc but not as a full system flush) Or just flush through with brake and clutch fluid

Mod review

Stu .... Are these Mods on your insurance ?
5. I see the spelling fairy hasn't been here picking up on the extra letters
6. .005mm is roughly 2thousands of an inch ...may not seem a lot but in engine engineering that is a lot And remember that the rings are there to create a seal and if they can't expand and maintain that seal ... Not doing their job Plus consider the extra wear placed on the liners caused by the slop in the pistons travel where the rings are not cushioning so to speak will mean that tolerance is even more critical .
7. Look at high lift cams , ported valves Racing you want that engine spinning as fast as you can ie airmix in and exhaust out as quickly and smoothly .. Clearances change with temperature so if being pushed hard they get hotter so clearances get smaller with metal expansion and what they are made from alters their reaction
8. Go to fowlers website and using the part finder Select your model etc And this will give you a reference to what other vehicles use that part. For reference : ( may not be your year https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/view/45251MERD01 Or cmsnl.com again handy reference Sometimes other models may be clearing out . Put the part number in Ebay search or even Google

11. Even historic trees succumb to the Saw but live on because of it instead of where they may have just fallen and rotted .. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cubbington_Pear_Tree https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-54642267

Nt700 Brake Disc

Check caliper pins ( sliding) and their location areas for excessive wear caused by the warp created by the split . As said replace pads is a must ! I would replace both sides so that you have a set base mark for wear and tear otherwise you will be replacing pads at different rates due to disk thickness etc
14. Until your house insurance claim for structural issues is rejected because of it ... When you buy the policy you would have to tell them how many how big and the distance from the house trees are. So if you make a claim about a declared tree you will be covered. Exactly ... But as above be prepared for the premium to increase AND in the event of a claim the first recommended practice is to remove all potential at fault foliage within a distance of the property so you will A.pay more for your insurance B. Lose the tree anyway C. Pay more for future premiums as you have claimed in the last x years Have had to remove some amazing specimen trees and shrubs due to this over previous years and seen householders brought to tears .
15. Don't forget to poison it .... Unless your digging it out ..which you will wish you had left the trunk attached for levarage If not poisoned it will return ...in varied suckers along its root base . SSSHHHH don't tell him that would be nice having the poor thing sprouting stronger and start to give more pears Until your house insurance claim for structural issues is rejected because of it ... Or your premium is increased because of its proximity
16. A. It produced very few pears. B. The few it produce were rock hard for weeks, then overnight went soft. C. It is right next to the house so the roots will be playing silly beggars with the drains and foundations. D. It was covering several windows. E. It was damaging the gutters. F. I was bored. Don't forget to poison it .... Unless your digging it out ..which you will wish you had left the trunk attached for levarage If not poisoned it will return ...in varied suckers along its root base .
17. Measure all the springs to seeif they are within similar length Did you have the last friction plate aligned with the other plates or did you have it offset as some are meant to be offset to aid release etc
18. Wonders if Stu removed this thread do you have a back up of your disassembly process ?
19. Was it yourself who has coated every mating surface in orange instant gasket previously ?
20. T40 t45 and t50 are generally not covered under most lifetime guarantees This was due to ford using this size on their transit brake caliper fixings and then other manufacturers began using similar and as the bit was on the limits of what could be made from the metal used they could not tolerate the torque required for these fixings ad there was a huge surge of claims against toolmakers like Sealey and Draper for replacement bits time and time again ... Till they stated that these sizes were excluded from the guarantee ... Sealey terms
21. Have you had to have thr front wheel rebalanced with the additional weights fitted ( magnets ) ? [strikeout]And did you set the circumference for the size of wheel or the circle that the sensor moves in As would expect the set up to be on the rim not the hub if you have placed wheel rim dimensions ... Time will tell if it starts reading 1000mph ..[/strikeout]. But then i suppose if it know that each revolution of magnet = the circumference then it can do the maths to calculate the speed /distance travelled so ignore the above ....

Gsx600f

Isolate potential issues ... Loosen off/remove all throttle cables and manually work the throttle mech on carb/throttle body ... Does it still do it ? Yes .... Check return spring .. No Check cable routing / and condition of cables and adjustment .
23. Not sure I agree entirely but I would say that, I started this thread. I justsigned up for IAM next year and to pass the test, I need to think about these things. For example Counter steering may be the way we all go around, and always have done but if it's not something that you have thought about, you may not choose to press harder on the inside grip when the corner is tighter than it appeared. Rev matching is a nice to have, to smooth out a downshift. I don't see any problems with striving to improve all the time and be someone who wants to be a thoughtful, reflective rider. If others are happy not to think about these things, fine With IAM be prepared to be told that you are not to use the gearbox to slow down... It is preferred to slow down on approach to a Hazard to use brakes and then select a suitable gear They will allow use of the gearbox to maintain a smooth progress... Ie approaching a roundabout where you have clear view of other approaches and selecting a lower gear allows you to navigate smoothly under consistent power control . Sadly I'm old school / old hgv gearbox learned and gears are for going and slowing and Brakes are for stopping ..( guess who got consistently told to use brakes more) How to do it .... Get used to how your vehicle reacts in each gear under engine braking ... Get used to that point of rev range in each gear of where you can change upwards smoothly that doesn't cause the engine to struggle or change speed dramatically... Clutchless down shifting on a bike is not ideal for the selectors as its generally a bit more forceful than upshifting ( yet i will happily do it on trackbike but not on the gtr ) but it is possible . Technique .... Practice with the higher gears first ... Don't go 2nd to 1st doing this as it may result in unwanted and unsightly skidmarks Practice Clutch in , select gear , smooth clutch release .... Get used to that transgression and reaction Then add in the rev increase to combat the de-acceleration Clutch in , Select gear ,smooth clutch release whilst applying a bit of throttle during the clutch release Aggressive blip Clutch in ,select gear simultaneously blip throttle , clutch release
