  1. Check for anything catching on chain ie chain guard bent/split ... stone ir similar caught in its path along swingarm guide
  2. Tim he has changed all that since the noise started with no difference Oops read that as checked not changed ffs specsavers here i come or stop masterbating....decisions
  3. Stiff/broken link on chain Loose front sprocket As only when driving i would limit my prelim search to drive chain area
  4. Also remember it will have to pass a mot at some stage so you may end up having to buy a new can anyway ...so either chop this one that has passed as is and then risk having to find a new standard/legal can to pass mot ... or save this can for future and buy a can that matches what you want .
  5. ...not stupid but also see if the piston is actually moving as it should ie the con rod is still connected where it should be
  6. that's a fair question prior to takin my lesson & test I was involved in Motorcycle training .. I rode my DR600 exactly as I had been taught to teach trainees for their test.. I completed my first lesson and the instructor put me forward for my test... he raised 3 points 1. Don't follow too close behind lorries on dual carriageways .. Yep .. that was because the bike was under powered.. if I had taken my CBR600 it wouldn`t have happened.. 2.Why was I goin so slow past parked cars through Hexham .. Had a car pull a U turn in similar circumstances and I was over cautious .. there was a line of cars comin the other way which left little room .. well it seemed that way to me .. 3.I had a second dab of the brakes when goin round a blind narrow bend onto a hump back bridge .. yep an unfamiliar road. I took on board what I was told.. I took the test a short time later and passed.. The A3 size Pass certificate turned up in the post.. it doesn`t matter how I attempt to answer that remark it will never be good enough .. you will pick fault with the answer.. so... No comment. But it doesnt answer what advanced training you went for . As far as i can take it from your description you have only passed your cat a licence .and you had 3 minors .
  7. yep.. nothing... Care to elaborate ? What you've done and why you feel like you gained nothing from it .
  8. Or is it a confidence issue not a im going illegally issue . Apolgies if misread
  9. Is your cbt not valid dor scoot ? 2 year life on them.otherwise riding otherwise in accordance to licence ..possible voiding insurance ..could rack up more than 6 points and you could lose licence
  10. A chain will flap a bit with no load on it either from wheel friction or suspension load . Check the sprockets as some are dished so if you have the sprocket the wrong way round it will throw the alignment way out . Alignment marks should match for both sides . Make sure you have the wheel spacers in the correct sides as this will throw alignment out . Sometimes you will need to make sure the brake caliper/drum torque arm is loose or detached to get a correct tension/alignment and that you may need to adjust rear brake if its a drum brake ( cant remember which bike this is) As with anything check the basics before progressing to far into fault finding
  11. Our plan has worked .. means we can have a forum free of annoying Spanish weather pics See you on the other site guys ....

I said the very same thing shortly before my arrest and conviction for gross indecency in a public place. Problem is due to the cold weather there was insufficent evidence
  14. I am not I wish someone check if all is ok. I left my bike to be checked over as I was going to sell it. So got bearings and fork seals done etc Mechanic told me that he took my bike out and he said it's in superb mechanical condition etc But I am not that convinced as items listed above haven't been done. I want new owner [if I decide to let it go] to enjoy riding and not worrying about stuff that is why I want to change/replace/update as much as I can Or be honest in your advert .get the oil and filter etc But say its not been done but parts come with it. What you may lose on sale price may be same as paying someone to do it all. I never trust anyone who says its just been serviced and change oil and filter etc myself regardless. Valves again only if its at the recommended interval and unless cam chain tensioner specifies replacing or is it a manual adjuster ?
  15. Always start with the basics You have a spark Check for fuel delivery to the carb Non fuel pump test Trace the pipe from tank to carb ...if tap is fitted turn to off position Remove pipe from carb place end of pipe into suitable receptacle (old bottle etc) turn tap on if youhave fuel flow you can eliminate the tank/tap/pipe as an issue ..if no tap its still a case of pull pipe off but you will have the chance of fuel flowing so be ready to replace hose back in location quickly . If fuel pump fitted inline youneed to check that it is operating these tend to work on pulse ie when you turn the keyon it will prime the carbs and then only activate when fuel pressure decreases and reprime . and that it is receiving fuel using similar method for non pump fitted (remove pipe on the tank side of pump ) to check for output flow ... remove carb end of pipe and place in receptacle and turn key on ..it should spurt fuel ..if it doesnt .try activating the starter and see if this gives any output. If not then issue with pump or blockage in output pipe (look for grotty inline filters ) If you have fuel flow then its a carb issue . Remember fuel is highly flammable so take care with any sources of ignition and spilt fuel .( not teaching to suck eggs but ) Why did youtake tank off btw ?
  16. Good call ..... .must read the title more ...
  17. Have you dropped it ? Or heavily bumped it over a kerb They have a tilt sensor on the fuel system that can shut fuel off in event of accident. You have fuel in it Tap if fitted turned on or if low fuel on reserve. Check fuses for fuel pump fuse if electrical

  25. Basics ... A rebuilt engine will be tight/er so will highlight a bad battery turn over Check all timing marks manually . Turn engine over by hand with plug out Check all wiring connections are in place especially any engine/chassis earths Check all fuel components Test spin engine with plug out Trying other components without basics in place can lead to damage if its a timing or such like If father in law does know or has a good knowledge of mechanical things accept the help two pairs of eyes are better than one and goes a long way to smoothing relationships
