  1. Thing is its not just how fast you can actually get to its being consistent. Why ride a road say for argument sakes like cat and fiddle flat out on the straights to have to brake heavily and constantly working to get round tje corners to accelerate and do it again in 100 yards . Why not just ride a speed that yes on the straights is slow but faster through the corners as your not having to pick up scrubbed off speed . I could effectively ride the a272 at a constant 50-60mph on my old 240kg gtr1000 and still keep up if not pushing the plastic racing wannabees round the corners. High speed is shortlived on any decent riding road .concentrate on being able to control whats happening on the view you can clearly see and enjoy the ride.

    Downpipe clamp

http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-yzf600r-2000-4tv9-england-104tv-300e1_model40430/partslist/0013.html#results Looking at fiche looks like pipe attached if you still got thundercat as listed . Possible way round us getting the broken clamp welded or a split clamp fabricated similar to http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/1990-2001-Kawasaki-ZZR1100D-Exhaust-Headers-Clamps-Holders-Collars-ZZR-1100-D-C-/292044144282?nav=SEARCH If you measure the pipe diameter and stud placements i will look and see if i have a spare one i can post to you if theres a chance of it fitting

    Downpipe clamp

What bike year model etc ? You should be able to get the clamps separate but some do only have them fitted to the pipes. Exhaust leaking will sound louder and can cause small popping noises on engine braking
  4. Guilty as charged m'lud. Do you mean cleaning only the visor, rather than the inside face of the Pinlock insert itself? Thought it had a coating on it which you shouldn't touch. https://pinlock.com/clean-pinlock-insert-lens/
  5. How many of you have pinlocks in and NEVER cleaned between the insert and visor since installation? Grime still is able to get in there as the seal is never 100% perfect . So remember to make a habit of removing and washing it all
  6. Or if not you could use that new starter cable as the positive connection ( connect starter motor end to its proper terminal and use the solenoid end to contact with battery positive . Then using the old starter cable as an earth lead bolting the ring terminal to the motors casing and strip a bit of the insulation back on the knackered end . This is where it gets tricky ... Put the motor somewhere safe and stable that the leads allow ( chair beside bike and kneel on it ) Or remove battery to give better room to work Hold the earth lead tight onto the negative terminal of battery .... then touch the positive cable (new cable) to the batteries positive terminal .(THIS WILL SPARK AND THE STARTER WILL JOLT (if it works )SO BE PREPARED FOR THAT ( if it doesn't do anything just make sure your getting good connections ) .
  7. As long as it fits properly is all that matters !
  8. Some people prefer to be led and some peoples personal bikes may not be a viable option to tour on . You then have the fun of arranging european breakdown cover as a majority of companies will not offer cover on bikes over 15 years old . If you wish to solo tour then yes self finding will be good but some crave social contact .
  9. No actual knowledge of the issue but first response from google http://www.motorcyclenews.com/new-rider/choosing-kit/2011/january/jan1111-bandits-speedo-goes-blank-/
  10. Meeting someone from another group there so if anyone's intrested i shall be there .
  11. Ok folks as its meant to be the better day if anyone is up for a couple of hours am going to be Leaving Beaconsfield Services hp92se at 10.15am . Will be sat outside the Wetherspoons section . White nitro helmet and Akito textile Jacket . Bike is a red zzr1100 but may not be parked nearby . Heading up to H cafe for a coffee and pitstop and then off around a few lovely Oxfordshire roads back to Beaconsfield Services .so just a couple of hours playtime . Please have a full tank of fuel and pennies for sustanance . Its not a triple figures rideout its just a good blast with respect to posted urban speed limits and other road users . If no one says they are going to be there i will not travel the 30 miles and i will post that intention i the morning before departure .
  12. Original zzr is a 2 into 1on either side(4 into 2 ) joined by a link pipe http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp260/timr_75/zzr/100_2368.jpg And depending on the performance change of a different exhaust it may require re jetting I had a standard setup on my 600 (and amotad nexxus on my current 1100 and previous 1100which is a straight swap as it is a cosmetic enhancement so no jetting required .)
  13. What's a DBS? (apart from an Aston Martin). https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/disclosure-and-barring-service
  14. What state is the air filter in When were carbs last balanced And valve clearance checked ?
  15. Zzr are extremely prone to screaming on choke ... they go from 3k to 7k in a heartbeart and if left on choke for too long the headers go a very nice red cherry colour .. This is quite normal choke operation and requires a tweak on its choke lever to combat .
  16. You would need the bike in gear ( top gear easiest) to be able to turn the engine by hand (using the back wheel ) Or if you can locate the crankshaft /flywheel nut and turn it by hand using socket (should be able to locate in manual) with the bike out of gear I am wondering if .... there has been an issue with the replacement starter motor that has locked the starter motor up . I would be tempted to remove starter motor and test it off the engine and also just to see if the engine turns by hand both BEFORE removal and AFTER .
  17. Going way back to the start .... Did the engine turn over when you bridged the solenoid terminals ? And do you still have the old starter motor ?
  18. Will have a look tomorrow. Trying to get out of this bloody awful dress then bed. Head is pounding from trying to sing lol. Thank you for your help. Hope you will beof hhelp tomorrow too I'm . intrigued now about how bad this dress is that you have to stop midway and worry about your bike
  19. Really ! So would that be the same advice you would have given to someone who was cautioned about crimes against minors ? And the employer has the ability to apply discretion if the information is given but if you don't submit the information and found out it will go against you more . Dbs can be required for so many jobs not just school/ medical based .
  20. In my thoughts it would be fine for a Show bike that doesn't get used as intended . I think the general option is powder coating but as i say this is my thoughts on the matter with a limited understanding/experience of the processes . The company involved would be the best port of enquiry or others in the trade .
  21. Enamels on forks ? Surely a high risk of it chipping in that location .
  22. Apologies for butting in but was that taped up or left bare ? Not even a proper spade connector as well ..think there may be a queue to punch your "mechanic"
