  1. The seller tells me they ran out of Koyo bearings so reolaced them from a company called Simply Bearings. Anyone had bearings from them? ie Are they from a decent manufacturer?
  2. Hmmm...the bearings for the CBF rear wheel arrived, ordered on ebay. One is branded as advertised (Koyo), the other two have no branding on them. I've asked the seller to confirm where they come from before I fit them. They may be fine but the listing said all three were Koyo.
  3. Good to hear from you @fastbob Hope you're keeping OK.
  4. Progress so far. Using my home made bearing removing tool.
  5. There's a spacer tube in there which means you can't use a puller. They have to be drifted out by angling the spacer from side to side.
  6. Washed the CBF which was covered in salt. Whilst doing so found some play in the rear wheel bearing. The left hand one turns out to be fine, it's the right hand one that has gone. It's pretty cruddy so I'll leave it to soak in penetrating fluid before trying to remove the bearing. I'll replace both anyway with new seals.
  7. Yes, it's had a bit of a makeover. Food is now even better than before.
  8. It's not very environmentally friendly when engines die at low mileages. In the long run a decent chain properly serviced will last for huge mileages.
  9. Honda forums seem to have several horror stories about this wet belt. It's a stupid design. You'd have thought with the experience Ford have had with their Ecoboom engine and the Peugeot/Vauxhall PureCrap engine manufacturers would realise they are a total disaster.
  10. On my batteries there are three blue leds that indicate the level of charge.
  11. Yesterday was -4.7 when we set off. Freezing fog meant my mirrors and visor kept icing up so my gloves were covered in ice for the first couple of hours riding. We left at 9.15am, went to Old Stores, then on to Rhug, then over the hills back to Chester. I got home at 4.30pm. Apart from when we were sat next to the log burners at Old Stores and Rhug my gloves were on low all day which kept my hands comfortable. I put the batteries on charge when I got home and they still had over one third charge in them. I use the 3Ah batteries.
  12. Brrrr....chilly morning. Off to Old Stores for brekky. We might linger by the wood burner for longer than usual.
  13. Who the heck is Greg Wallace? Some guy with a dog? He invents things.
  14. My packed lunch today was corned beef butties. Apparently corned beef butties do not survive well being transported in a motorcycle top box. They undergo rapid unscheduled disassembly (as the current parlance puts it). The wagon wheel survived.
  15. May I recommend Higher Farm Cafe at Byley near Middlewich.
  16. What's that blue stuff at the top of the picture?
  17. My CBF500 had the same issue. We live in a rural area so the single headlight on unlit rural roads was an issue. I fitted a Halfords 200% bulb which improved things enough not to need to worry about more radical suggestions. I was told these bulbs tend not to last very long but it's been in for nearly 6 years now and still works fine.
  18. Hope you have a great day.
  19. Cheeky bugger. Unfortunately the day has not gone well so far. My mother had a fall, refused an ambulance, so I'm stuck in A&E waiting for her to be seen. I have a feeling it will be a long wait. Annoyingly this is what happened last year as well. Just cancelled the table we had booked for this evening.
  20. Thanks guys. I'm just waiting to collect my first birthday present.....a week's supply of penicillin.
  21. That's the problem. My wife downloaded the NHS app, entered her NHS number and email address and it was fully functional. I downloaded it, it already had all my details from the previous app they used, which only 6 months ago, so it knew all my details. But then it asked me to scan my driving licence, then scan my face, and now it won't do anything until it confirms my identity. Which it says will take 2 days. I'll ring one of my mates who is an undertaker. Be quicker just to skip the GP.
  22. Having been unwell since Boxing Day I decided it was finally time to contact our GP. Only it turns out they have changed the system yet again. I rarely ask for a GP appointment and every time I've tried it's a new system. So this evening I've had to download a new app. Submit all my details, scan a photo ID, all the usual faff. Now it will take 2 days before the app can verify I am who I say I am. If they change the system why not send an email letting you know all this needs doing? By the time you need to make an appointment it's a bit late to find out that system introduced six months ago has been superceded.
  23. Triumph Bobber club is mixed. Mostly American owners but there's a decent sized UK membership and folk from across the globe. The technical support bit is excellent. There are some very experienced owners willing to share information. Very few squabbles in that regard. The modifications aren't to my taste but the general attitude is each to their own. It's your bike, if you like it then we'll be polite. Just don't stray anywhere near any tongue in cheek comment on politics. That causes world war 3 to break out so the slightest hint of political comment results in an instant lifelong ban.
  24. Modern engine management systems will control the revs to prevent stalling. If yours has started to hold higher revs than it should there's something amiss with a sensor somewhere.
  25. We are at cross purposes, I didn't mention emissions. Just that the stock tune does run lean at light throttle settings. It's a characteristic of the bike. It's predecessor, the CB500 did the same.
