  1. I second this entirely. But I will admit that at times I have fallen to the temptation to hold my ground when doing so meant a conflict between a motorbike and 2 tons of SUV - and we all know who comes out that the better side up.
  2. And the 3 year old rolled up again this morning. I'm off for a hot bath then an evening in the pub.
  3. Mission accomplished.
  4. Tomorrow is forecast to rain. For once this pleases me as the CBF is covered in salt so a good wet ride will wash it off.
  5. We have been looking after the grandchildren Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I am destroyed. They, on the other hand, are still bouncing off the walls.
  6. Phew....I rely on my computer for work. I've been thinking it was time to replace it but the laptop I had my eye on was too expensive. Then it dropped by £250 as BF approached so I went for it. Even so it was a bit of a tough decision splashing out on a second computer. Last night my old one froze, then just died. Completely dead, it won't boot or enter the BIOS. No response to any inputs. A bit of a lucky escape.
  7. Ours must be really good....I just leave them somewhere on the landing.
  8. Particularly if you use washing fluid rather than powder. That stuff plays havoc with washing machines.
  9. I have a very similar screen by Puig on my CBF500. It's a vast improvement on the oem screen. At motorway speeds (probably not your main concern on a CG125) it does a decent job of deflecting the airflow around me.
  10. Interesting. A mate loves building small capacity bikes from weird originals. His current one is based on an imported Japanese postal bike. I'm pretty sure he has kept the original reg from when it was imported. I guess there's a fuzzy line as to what constitutes a whole new bike as opposed to a modified original.
  11. My wife has an excellent system of ensuring her car is clear of ice and ready to drive on frosty morning. I go out in my PJs and scrape off the ice. When it's clear enough to see out of the windscreen I set off down the frozen country lanes trying to dodge the worst of the potholes and stay of out the ditches. After a couple of miles the heater starts to work and by the time I'm home it's up to temperature. The windscreen and windows are clear inside and out, and the car is toasty warm. The downside of this system is that the de-icing operative is (I am told) a grumpy old git and expensive to maintain.
  12. No option. I was in Liverpool so had to get home.
  13. Got on it this evening and it was covered in ice. I didn't feel cold on the 40 mile trip home, heated gloves are great. The only horrible bit was salt on the visor. But getting home our drive was like an ice rink. I had to waddle the bike backwards down the slope with my feet sliding all over the place just trying to keep it upright. Fortunately it is safely in the garage.
  14. I wanted a power bank capable of recharging my laptop. Usually they are £70 upwards. I picked one up at Argos today, a Juice one and I've had their power banks before. 20,000ma and 100W. £34.99. It's a neat little thing. Very handy at that price.
  15. Interesting. I've always wondered how durable those are. A guy round the corner from us had one for his classic car which seemed to last for years but it was a very sheltered site.
  16. I've used a dishwasher and not had any problems. Apart from getting a good telling off of course.
  17. Take care out there. It's been snowing heavily here which is rare. Our drive is quite a steep slope so there's no chance of getting the bikes out of the garage this morning. The CBF has to be pushed out backwards which when the slope is covered in snow is dicey.
  18. Usually I avoid Black Friday for the reasons stated above. However, this year I needed to replace my laptop so I've been monitoring prices for the last 6 months. Most of the so called sales are precisely the case of being false claims or old stock being shifted. Fortunately I got lucky, the one laptop I wanted went on a genuine reduction saving me £250.
  19. There is still free motorcycle parking near the Registry Office in Goss Street. It's a bit of a pain to find. Use the Registry Office postcode and the parking bay is right opposite.
  20. I'm using the heated gloves for the first time of this winter.
  21. I have a 3 month sabbatical July to September 2025. No plans as yet but I'm working on it. I've done LEJOG on a pedal bike. Round the coast of Britain seems the next obvious thought.
  22. Sounds like the story of my life. I'm definitely in the latter upward curve.
  23. The SGS one will do everything the Harris one will do other than have posing at the track credentials. Since your intended use is within the privacy of your own garage and is limited to consenting adults of sound mind I'd go for the SGS one.
  24. I ride a quiet CBF and a less quiet Triumph Bobber. The Bobber has the stock pipes which have a lovely note and are quite loud enough. I notice a very considerable difference in how traffic is aware of my presence between the two bikes. So from my experience louder pipes are a massive boost to road safety.
  25. I used slime in my wife's cycle tyres. She ran over a thorn which created a leak. I found the slime did nothing to fix the leak, which was a tiny hole, but it had completely wrecked the valve so I ended up fitting a new tube anyway. I've avoided it since.
