Module 2 - members test experiences
Liveware Problem replied to a topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Thanks all The examiner made me walk back inside, take off my helmet and the mic, sit down.. Then asked 'how do you think that went?' before finally telling me I'd passed Good luck, you'll do it -

Over Trousers
Liveware Problem replied to Lateralus's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I use these, they have built in knee and hip protection, and easily fit over my regular trousers. They zip up past the knee so pretty easy to get on/off whilst wearing boots. So far they've proved waterproof https://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/product/stein-stp105-adjustable-jean-black/8037 -

Oh bad luck the pressure of the test is such a big factor, and a lack of sleep and stressful wait at the test centre compounds it. Sounds like you know what happened though so next time you'll be fine, just throw in lots of extra lifesavers I also failed my first attempt, but got a major for pulling out having not seen a skoda! Oops. -
Taken from his profile: kawasaki vn900 custom I don't see that on my mobile! Just logged in on the laptop, much easier

The garage showed me the heavily scored piston head and knackered bearings from the engine, I said I wasn't up for spending £400 on repairing it so he offered me £250 for the bike. I agreed, knowing I'd never get round to fixing it. However he phoned me this morning to tell me he didn't want the bike.. He'd replaced the piston head and bearings but it was still making the whining noise.. He reckons it is the main crankshaft bearing on the left-hand side, which apparently isn't economical to fix. So I have the bike back, -£72 for the time he took to strip it down, but he didn't charge for the new parts and putting it back together.

Cool! What model is that?

I'm actually tempted! However I'm about to pay for a couple of lessons + mod 2 fees + hire of bike for said test and lessons... Why didn't I pick a cheaper hobby
-
Yes but have you seen what a pig's ear I made of checking my chain and wheel alignment? Not much chance of me fitting a new engine
-
He did say, sounded pretty bad.. (I've already forgotten the details) I'm going there after work to speak with them. Not surprising really, no doubt it is virtually wrecked after running without oil, then there's paying for the labour of course.

Replacing helmet
Liveware Problem replied to Liveware Problem's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I like the look of those, but I'm not confident of buying a helmet online without fitting. Also I'm still waiting for some boots I ordered from them back in December I ordered a new Arai from M&P over Xmas, just took the size from my old Arai .New one arrived in 4 days and was a perfect fit Ah but that would restrict me to another HJC. Not that there's anything wrong with them, I'd just prefer more choice -
Update: bike was starved of oil (wish I'd noticed the leak earlier) Repair bill: £400 (bike purchased for £695) Not sure it's worthwhile, even with it fixed I won't be able to sell it for much.

My '07 does but another forum member with a more recent model said it doesn't come with one.

I plan to book mod 2 for a couple of weeks from now I was hoping to sell the ybr on as a going concern but it's looking increasingly unlikely!
-
I don't intend to start filtering/overtaking like BvG! Good to hear opinions from more experienced riders I will remain cautious and not be tempted to take unnecessary risks!

Funny you should say that.. Sometime after I came off the bike I noticed it was leaking oil, I took it in to the garage and they replaced a gasket and put new oil in, however I wonder how long it was leaking oil before I noticed I took it in again last Friday when I noticed the whine, guy said he didn't know what it was but to come back if it got worse.. It has so I'll take it in tomorrow. Who could have guessed a 10 year old bike bought off ebay with no service history might be so problematic?

OK as expected! The upside being it was a not very attractive HJC -
Bike Security...
Liveware Problem replied to onesea's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Interesting, I'd be a bit worried about the second one attached to a bike, wouldn't it easily get waterlogged? Probably worth a shot at that price though. -
This has been bugging me for a while. A couple of weeks ago I came off my bike, foolishly grabbing front and stamping on back brake.. I came down mostly on my right hip, also my hands, however there was also a noticeable 'crack' noise as my helmet hit the tarmac. I don't think it was a hard impact, certainly it didn't snap my head back or anything, the visible damage is a minor scratch on the chin area and very minor scratches on the right side of the visor. I suppose I'm reluctant to replace it, but thought I should ask.. Anticipating more expenditure

He is pretty full of himself!

I wondered because I had a taxi blaring his horn at me for overtaking in a similar fashion, even though there was no risk of a collision Trying to be careful at the moment, not having a great deal of experience. Often other people on motorbikes/scooters go whizzing past!

Haha now your posts make sense!! You only had one side moving - that's the reason you push the wheel forwards first to make sure it's free to move then use the adjusters to pull it back and align... You basically only had one adjuster working!! Exactly, I'd taken the instructions very literally If the rear wheel comes off on the way to work tomorrow I'll be sure to let you know

I had 3 lessons on how to do my chain before I did it on my own then it took me 20 minutes. Now I can do it in less than 5, thats just 2 years. Good to know I'm hoping next time it won't be cold, dark and raining
