What Tools?

Excellent, thanks all So to summarise, several large hammers and a torque wrench will suffice for most tasks? -
What Tools?

Thanks guys, what sort of stuff should I be looking at besides a socket set? -
I have a tool kit gifted to me about 12 years ago, but whilst it has been useful I don't think it's high quality - I recently broke the ratchet of the socket set.. However I'm struggling to work out what I should buy instead, what brands are decent e.t.c., what do those of you who work on your bikes recommend as a starting point?

Clothing brands
Liveware Problem replied to Lateralus's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Spada textile jacket - not bad, quite water resistant but definitely not proof. OK as a first buy if you're after something cheap. Stein textile trousers - cheap and rubbish. Ixon jacket - fine so far as a summer jacket, no use in the wet I suspect. Richa Daytona leather jacket - feels very nice, good quality. Definitely for sunny days though! Akito winter gloves - again a budget option, not really waterproof, or hugely warm. Akito leather sports style gloves - again cheap, but alright for warmer weather. That's all I have so far! -

The Queen's Head The Queen Victoria The Anchor Also I was in the shot of The Wheatsheaf with Hoggs, and the Dog's trust group photo, I think only one was counted for my score? -

Plot twist, the old guy at Red House service station is the nob of the day! Pretty malicious if he did see you and let you carry on

Chinese bikes - are they actually any good?
Liveware Problem replied to Jacko's topic in Motorbike Chat
I'd say spend more on the bike and less on the kit, there are plenty of cheap makes like spada that nonetheless make decent enough gear. Buying a Chinese bike is definitely a false economy I reckon, spend a bit more on a looked-after Japanese 125 and you'll be able to sell it on when you're ready to move up to a bigger bike -
I'm back

Hello and welcome back! I've found people are very friendly here, no hostility, unless maybe someone starts another discussion about chine.. Um, bikes from the far east -
Who rides flip-up?
Liveware Problem replied to Jacobyte's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
My skorpion is flip front, but I don't ride with it up. Even if it were rated as a jet helmet I wouldn't, having seen the result of someone getting knocked off with their helmet flipped up.. Don't think I can afford the dentist's bill.. (Or more likely in my case the rhinoplasty!) -
Before says anything, yes my bike has a horrible screen Having now seen your bike, I don't see any issue. Would look hilarious on my bike though

Well Vented Helmet

I had a HJC before my current Scorpion, both seem a good fit so I reckon you'll be fine -
Hopefully they're signed up to the organ donor register

Test bike
Liveware Problem replied to geofferz's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
I think you'd be better off with lessons and using the school's bikes, as the others have said. I doubt many people pass the tests, especially mod 1, without any practice. Have you had a look on YouTube? There's quite a few 'mod 1 perfect pass' videos - people have uploaded their own test footage.
