  1. Thanks Spanner, that looks very useful, and also terrifying I've had a look through the service history, I can't find any record of the valve clearances being checked, and the carburettor idle speed was last checked 4 years ago..
  2. I have some Prexport Passo boots, these: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/206486 So far very comfortable, and waterproof. Im a size 43 in shoes and the 43 boots are a good fit, and very easy to get on and off. They are only mid-length, so higher than regular shoes but not as high as most bike boots - think along the lines of walking boots. Also they won't break the bank either
  3. Sorry it's a cb600f, well spotted Spanner I have the Honda owner's manual if that's what you mean? It has done just under 33k miles, and pulls cleanly on the throttle. It seems to idle ok when warm, but I haven't got much to compare it too! Thanks for the advice, I knew I needed to get it checked out but it is useful to know where to start
  4. Hello, me again! I have a bit of a problem starting my cb600f from cold, I know it's an old bike (W reg) with carbs, but still it seems surprisingly reluctant - Essentially I open the choke, try the electric starter plus some throttle, (can't get it going without some throttle) and it can take several attempts to start, with it seeming to start but then dieing, before finally getting going. Also a few times when stopped at lights I've had it die on me, the revs just dropping off and it dies (no it's not me stalling it ) Any ideas where to start?
  5. The Crown The George & Dragon Blue pen on yellow card was a terrible choice! Narrow country lanes in the dark are quite scary too..
  6. Congratulations forro! Don't forget to post pics when you get your bike
  7. Congratulations Foxy, and I will be very jealous if you get a z1000sx
  8. Congratulations Richard, let the good times roll Edit: just realised I copied Tango word for word
  9. Huge congratulations! I think you have to get a bike Hoggs doesn't like, so that rules out a Ninja or an R6
  10. ....I am suspicious *adds you to The List* I just thought British racing green suits the bike... I guess it's not Kermit green though!
  11. Congratulations! such an epic feeling. I like your bike, especially the colour
  12. Yes, sorry! I got a message to say he (the training school boss I think) had managed to get through to my examiner and it should all be cleared up - guess I'll find out for definite when my new photocard arrives in the post! top stuff try and get a correct version of the certificate as well Ooh I hadn't considered that
  13. Any update on this *nosey nosey nosey* Yes, sorry! I got a message to say he (the training school boss I think) had managed to get through to my examiner and it should all be cleared up - guess I'll find out for definite when my new photocard arrives in the post!
  14. Thames Valley (which covers Reading) have virtually done away with Traffic division and most local division are not interested in traffic work. But, you have to also remember that L plates are required for a reason, the offences are there for a reason, and I always consider someone riding with cut down L plates as taking the p1ss. So now I have you marked doen as a p1ss taker Finally, the new bods had to be taught how to report for offences. Haha, well no more L plates for me now Just need to learn to ride my bike at least semi-competantly
  15. Oh yes. I have known a few get done for it. Look at it this way, it is one of the easiest offences to report for, and when I used to have a probationer come on attachment to traffic, it was always one of the offences I got them to report for becaue it was so easy but helped the youngsters develop their evidence gathering and writing up reports. 3 points and £100 for each chopped down plate. Wow! I guess Reading police are preoccupied with more pressing matters then, I've passed quite a few police cars with the cut-down plate on.
  16. Brilliant, I can legally fit L-plates to my bike and go out and see if people really do treat learners differently, or if its complete paranoia from people with L-plates. Not sure that's a fair test unless you're on a 125 and riding somewhat erratically
  17. Oops, I cut down one of those stick on L plates for the front mud guard on my ybr.. I'm guessing it's not something you're likely to be pulled up for though!
  18. You can if you've passed your full motorbike licence, yes (I think) although why would you! At the school I went to the instructor would often use one of the school's bikes, which all have L plates on. Also if you're training with a qualified instructor (i.e. he is out on the road supervising you) and you've already passed your CBT then you can ride a bike above 125cc with L-plates. Otherwise, it's illegal, as far as I'm aware.
  19. I took the test on an unrestricted Suzuki Gladius, so definitely 'A' category. I've spoken to the training school, sent them a picture of my mod 1 cert (clearly marked 'A' category) and Mod 2 with the erroneous 'A2', hoping they can sort it out. It's a strange one, as I was discussing bikes I might get with the examiner, none of which would have been A2 compliant, made no mention of restrictions of any kind.. oh well. Just wish I'd spotted it sooner!
  20. I passed my Mod 2 this Tuesday, and as is normal the Examiner took my photocard driving licence off me and gave me a paper certificate to last until the dvla sends my new photocard... I didn't really pay much attention on the day, too excited and relieved over passing! But I've looked again and he's written 'A2' on the certificate I'm 29, so surely that should be 'A', as in a full unrestricted licence!? Now worried they'll make me take mod 2 again
  21. The only reasonable complaint would be the blocking of fire escapes, but surely they can find a way to avoid that happening without forcing the organisers to move the event!
  22. Happy Birthday Geofferz! And Rob m
