1. Is that XTreme?
2. You're probably on the ball there, but I bet it has also got something to do with how we generally treat things as disposable these days. People used to keep bikes for longer, now they're swapped more often than some people change their socks. Manufacturers know the sales pitch doesn't need to focus on long term ownership. I suppose it must also be linked to the finance options now available, it makes more sense to keep chopping and changing if you can avoid the balloon payment on a pcp deal by upgrading to a new model. Is it a change in sociatal mores - wanting the newest and best thing immediately - driving the change, or more a case of manufacturers and salespeople teaming up with the banks to convince us this is what we want and thereby driving up their profits?
3. I'd like to know what the manufacturers' justifications are for the decline in quality despite the consistantly above inflation price rises (not that they would admit to it). I'm guessing it's to do with increased R&D and manufacturing costs due to the ever-increasing burden of emissions regulations, and safety too - e.g. every bike needs abs, traction control etc.
4. After selling my bike at the beginning of last year, and missing it ever since, I've finally found a replacement, another 'ebay bargain' Never one to resist a bargain, I snapped up this 1998 gsxr 600, in the best colours She's a little careworn (don't zoom in on those pics!) but hopefully will last a while yet, no advisories for the past few years, fork rebuild in 2017 and a new reg/rec last year.
5. It's a fair bit tamer as you would expect, but it's still good fun! It's easier to give it some on the Fazer without getting up to silly speeds just to do so . I felt the sensation of speed more on a naked, must be because you're not tucked in behind a fairing/screen?
6. Sorry your bike got stolen Beefy I feel your pain. But this looks excellent what's it like to ride compared to your cbr?
7. UPDATE: Police found it about 10 miles away, it has ignition damage but it seems they couldn't start it, so maybe there is something to these keyless electronic ignitions, that must be why they dumped it. Got my local motorbike shop to recover it, now awaiting repair estimate.. Thanks very much for the replies guys, and the suggestions A winter hack is something I'd consider bonio once I've paid off the scooter. Although the triumph they stole last time was a beaten up tt600 One things for sure I won't leave it unchained again! A very kind offer Ian Frog, thanks, I will message you
8. Back in May I came off my scooter and damaged it pretty badly. I waited until the week before last to finally get the shop holding on to it to repair it... £1077 later, I finally had it back on Thursday off last week, and it felt amazing to be back on 2 wheels. I recently moved house, couldn't find the key to the lock on my big chain, but thought stupidly it would be ok parked outside the house.. sure enough, Saturday afternoon I head out and find an empty space where my scooter had been parked Yes, I know, what a stupid bloody fool I am to leave it outside with no security, especially after my triumph was stolen last year Thought I'd moved to a 'better area' But now I'm thinking, even if I can afford another bike, is there any point getting one? Even with a tracker fitted, multiple locks and a cover they could just scoop it up and put it in a van. Any thoughts? I don't want to give up biking but I don't earn a lot and need to keep a car on the road, shall I just accept it and move on?
9. Wow! Lovely bike, Much nicer than a diavel I reckon anyway
10. Haha, I might! Although I'd have to hope they don't notice that the trousers are actually Alpinestars
11. Thanks They seemed fine, looks like it will be an extra charge for that service over and above my membership fee, but I was expecting that.
12. Not far no, about 11 miles, waiting for the AA at the moment. You reckon that can be fixed up then?
13. I'm fine thanks, the gear did its job! Lost grip on a roundabout. I wasn't trying to get a knee down or anything, but there you go. But I'm not sure how to proceed as I can't move it and only have 3rd party fire and theft.. boy does that seem a stupid choice right now!
14. So this is me this morning, I've wrapped my scooter around a lamp post: Somehow I think that's a write-off!
15. A misspelt Forza 300 127241_2018_honda_forza_300_1.jpg That one is the new model, OP has a 2016 Forza 300:
16. Ok I try not to judge other peoples' music taste, but seriously I've found the perfect answer to those that say there's no such thing as bad music: ">
17. You are the kind of customer dealerships dream of But seriously, glad it wasn't worse, lovely bike
18. They're not considering motorcyclists at all, as we make up 'only'' around 1% of road traffic. That's the way it seems anyway. No where near as bad as that Poynton roundabout, but they've started putting in brick strips about a metre wide across the exits of various small roundabouts in Reading, they get pretty slick in the rain!
19. this!!. I was wondering why so many people didn't have their lights on!! I think Hoggfather told me it was daylights but obviously no one has told them I've caught up with several people guilty of this at traffic lights and let them know their tail lights aren't on. Usually they just say thanks, but one guy insisted his were on because he could see them.. No those are your brake lights, take your foot off the pedal
20. Nope. And most people never read the Highway Code again after passing their test. Hell, most people (as evidenced by everyday life and youtube) don't even realise that the Highway Code says that you need to give way to a pedestrian already crossing a side road that you're wishing to turn in to, and to me that's a pretty basic rule. Yes and that includes the pedestrians, they often look surprised I stop and let them finish crossing!
21. From my experience, yes. I didn't realise how bad it was until I'd got a new tyre, with the worn tyre the bike would twitch and pull under braking, and it wouldn't tip into corners in a predictable way.
22. Sorry to hear that emmajaneg, hope you're on the mend and can replace your bike soon.
23. Possibly..? My scooter had a ridiculousy uneven wear pattern by the time I finally changed it, after 17,800 miles, the left side was completely smooth but the right still had plenty of tread.
24. It's a tricky decision, especially if you have an odd-shaped head like me I've yet to find a truly comfortable helmet. Does anyone else with a 'long' head (think xenomorph from Alien ) have any recommendations?
25. I've had it a couple of times as a loan bike, and the cb500x as well. Great bike, genuinely enjoyed my time on it - quick enough but also agile, and you feel you can make the most of it's performance without reaching crazy speeds. I liked it more than the nc750. Tops out at 112 mph
