1. When I sold my 1st bike the guy didn't even check... When I sold my car with remaining finance I gave the guy the login to blackhorse to pay it off. I can see why that's a good deal for you as the seller, what about the buyer though.. I guess they're still saving vs. buying the same age bike from a dealer?
2. No one who does pcp wants to own the bike at the end so the balloon payment is irrelevant. These are 3 year deals like mine was - I've just done one year and thinking of changing already. I will sell privately in term - I did the same with my last car no problem. Its just about nice affordable monthlies. I'm happy to pay £150 a month forever and get new bikes when I like. How does that work, I thought you weren't able to sell a vehicle you still owe finance on?
3. That should be illegal, totally unfair. @Samadielka If it helps, I had a no fault claim on record I forgot to mention when applying for a new policy, their checks brought it up on their system but it didn't increase my premium they'd already quoted me (this was with bikesure) - so not all companies will take them into account. I know, that what MCE told me, they will transfer me to no fault department, it was funny when they asked, do you think it was your fault? I was in the shop when it happend Haha! Well I think you stand a good chance of the other guy's insurance paying out, as you have witnesses to back you up. It may take a quite a long time though

5. Thanks spanner and JRH, I still have a 125 scooter, not quite as quick as the sprint but never mind i'll hang around
6. Sadly I've sold it this morning, and I'm not replacing it in the foreseeable future Thanks to everyone on Tmbf for making this such a welcoming and helpful community, I really appreciate all the advice freely given Sold today, sprint st 1050 Previous bike, TT 600, stolen First big bike (Not mine but can't find any pics of my hornet)
7. My suggestion would be a Triumph Tiger 1050 sport, but possibly that's too tall?
8. I'm going off second-hand knowledge here, so might be best to check specific piaggio forums.. Not sure what you mean by balancing at higher speeds, motorcycles are naturally balanced at higher speeds anyway. I would have thought lower speeds were more of an issue, setting off, slowing to a stop, manoevers etc? In which case I would expect an mp3 to be easier to handle, it will definitely be more stable at lower speeds. However you will still need to lean into corners, certainly the bike will, in that respect it's the same as a 2- wheeler.
9. Where do you park your bike? If outside a bike cover would be a good idea, preferably secured so a would-be thief can't easily lift it. Sounds unlikely perhaps, but if you hide it under a cover it will make it less noticeable and also they may assume it's an older model not worth nicking.
10. Sorry to resurrect this, thought a few people might be interested in this - I had the subframe (pictured in Mickly's post) replaced, these are some shots of the part taken off the bike: Yep, that's right, the bike had previously been crashed and rather than replace the clearly damaged subframe they tried to weld it (It's aluminium by the way). The 3rd pic shows where it sheared through after the bike fell off its side stand.. notice a very dodgy weld that obviously didn't fix the original damage! Hence the reason it broke so easily when the bike toppled over
11. I've only had mine for 100miles, and that was the delivery ride. I only took it to 95 and it was like; "would you like some more sir?" The horse power is restricted to 47HP but not the speed. I suppose if you get your head down and go for it, it will keep going faster, but what is the point? Anyway, back to the topic, I already have an alarmed disc lock and a big chain when its at home. ~The next sequence (not the importance will be:- Reflective strips (hey you!!), Short bar ends (so I can wheel it through the door) Ebay?, Datatool alarm (The local dealer doesn't open until the new year.) um.....? How about something like this? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fp%2F1052315336%3Fiid%3D170659388008 I had one, compatoble with RAM mount clips etc. best way to mount a Sat nav on a sportsbike I reckon
12. I got some leather gloves.. ..except they're not bike gloves, more 'midsummer murders murderer' spec gloves
13. Bit late but Merry Christmas to all
14. ..But only about 7% of the UK's population
15. Many thanks for the commiserations and the advice guys, much appreciated I'm taking it to be looked at on Tuesday, then will decide where to go from there. If it's a small fortune to repair then I may try and bodge it back together myself, though where exactly I would do that I don't know! Does anyone know the correct term for the clock mounting bracket (which is the bit where the metal has sheared through)?
16. Thanks GoG, I do appreciate you advice Unfortunately I described it badly, the studs are fine it's the connecting plastic that's broken, no way to repair those small pieces properly. Also the last photo shows where the metal support for the clocks has shorn, I don't think I could glue that! The entire front of the bike is almost free-floating right now. Coupled with the fact I have no idea how to do any of the things you described, and have nowhere to work on the bike! I'm taking it to the local motorbike shop to see what their mechanics make of it.
17. Yep. It's my fault. I park it facing out so I can lock the back wheel to my scooter's back wheel, but that means when I get it out I have to manoeuvre it to the left, which means it's leaning against the camber of the pavement. I usually check to see if it moves when I get off but I didn't this morning and it must have slipped slightly and then overbalanced. raesewell yes I'm thinking that's likely :/
18. Got my bike out ready to go to work, left it on the side stand whilst I turned back to close and lock the gate and heard a loud crunch.. Oh it won't be too bad, I thought (hoped), maybe just a few cracks and scratches on the fairing.. So basically the fairing sheared off almost all the fixings, and is broken all the way through either side of the headlight, and the part either side of the clocks has broken, as well as the metal support holding the dash/clocks to the yoke shearing off (last pic) It's completely unrideable. I haven't looked yet but I have a nasty feeling it will cost a small fortune to repair that sort of damage Any advice would be much appreciated!
19. Oh bad luck megawatt hope your recovery is fast and smooth as possible.
20. I went out on New year's eve last year, got absolutely drenched JesterPilgrim Yessss get one get one get one just make sure it has some service history!
21. I don't agree with Diane Abbot on many things, including this latest concern for moped muggers, but it's worth bearing in mind she has been elected with a huge majority for many years, it's not as though she has just been installed by Jeremey Corbyn.. and calling her a 'dumb bitch' just smacks of misogyny.
22. Who invented car headlights that come on automatically but not the tail lights at the same time? Because they need a slap Lost count of the number of people I've seen (just) driving around oblivious to the fact that only their headlights are on.
23. emmajaneg Sorry to hear your bike was stolen, such a horrible feeling. I remember feeling very angry when mine was stolen, because there's the knowledge the thieves are just having fun and don't give a damn about the consequences for the owner - losing a treasured possession and having to try and scape together the money for a replacement -especially as you need it for transport not just fun. Hope you can get a replacement bike before too long, good luck!
