  1. Rebuilt near side front calliper, 3 new pistons and seals along with a good clean. One of the pistons was sticking and holding on after releasing. It was a much easier job than I expected, I had put aside 4 hours but was done in under 1.
  2. I am thinking of getting a dashcam. This one is for the car, I already have a camera fitted to my bike. My wife got caught speeding a week ago, she is adamant she wasn't, she remembers seeing the van even. I doubt there is much we can do now, but I was thinking in future if I have a dashcam fitted that logs the cars speed at all times via gps then that would be pretty good evidence one way or another. Has anyone got any recommendations for something like that?
  3. Gave it a wash down, the amount of road salt that had built up was horrendous. I also did an oil and filter change. I've still got an issue where one heated grip is warmer than the other, I need to check the wiring but it's under the tank and I had just filled it up so it was rather heavy. I'll burn through it and sort it this weekend.
  4. I didn't realise they even went this high until i saw some at the shop tonight, I thought £300 was about the ceiling.
  5. went with a pair of these thanks, put them on first and they were very comfortable. Tried a few others on but came back to them. Got the waterproof version for a straight £100, which was cheaper than most places online. Got a pair of loky goretex gloves reduced to £85 too so I was very happy with the service at jsaccessories.
  6. I don't really have one, I am more interested in value. If a pair of boots will last me 10 years of dry feet comfortable commuting but cost £250 then that's better than a pair that cost £100 but last a year before falling apart.
  7. My merlin boots have given up on me after 14 months. The lining has split so I can't get my left heel in comfortably, the insoles have been loose for months so keeping them in place is a pain and I think the right toe is starting to let a bit of moisture in. So I need a replacement pair. They must be waterproof, they are used for commuting in the north east, we get a lot of rain. I don't want something in your face racing boots, just something black and relatively plain. Preferably not costing an arm and a leg, I'd rather buy 3 pairs of these merlins than 1 pair of sidi adventure 2. I can get a replacement pair of these merlins, which to be fair have served me well, for £89.99. Suggestions?
  8. got absolutely soaked through this morning. My oxford montreal gear is just no longer waterproof, work shirt was soaked round my stomach and right arm, boxers were soaked. I had to stand in the disabled toilet with them under the hand dryer to get them reasonably dry. The annoying thing is it was dry when i left the house, if it wasn't i would have put my waterproof over coat and over pants on.
  9. My jacket and pants liners were put in and balaclava went on for the first time yesterday, more so for my neck than anything else. I do hate how squashed it makes my head feel, I can't get a snood to stay up so it has to do. I am tempted to get some bar muffs. I know they look naff but when it comes to winter practically is more important. I'd rather be on my bike with bar muffs than using public transport.
  10. Has anyone come across a good mount for the new iPhones, I'm specifically after the 11, that has a 1" ball for connecting to a ram arm. I have something like this, but mounted to a 1" ball ram arm. My new phone fits, kind of. I have seen the X-grip, but it doesn't look overly strong? Maybe one with built in wireless charging would a good idea. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ram-Mounts-RAM-HOL-UN7BU-Universal-smartphone-black/dp/B0055PH0XA/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?keywords=1%22%2Bram%2Biphone%2B11%2Bmount&qid=1569330936&sr=8-1-fkmr0&th=1 thoughts?

pretty pointless these days, your better off getting an electric motor like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EU-Duty-Free-Bafang-BBSHD-48V-1000W-Mid-Drive-Motor-E-Bike-Conversion-Kits/173909632166?hash=item287dd264a6:m:m2xzIBjy_YjfZYI2EklSHnQ
  12. with the hazard awareness, the double click method helps. Click when you think the hazard is there, then click again a second later. Often when you think something is going to become a hazard it hasn't yet, so the second click gets it. You won't get 0 marks for over clicking if you are just doing two
  13. I think the problem with 0% is the next morning. Depending on what you had the previous day you could wake up feeling ok, but still, have a small % left in your bloodstream. That being said I think there should be better guidance for people. I know everyone is different at processing it, but if they said something really conservative live 1 unit = 1 hour you can't drive for.
  14. 5’s. Because they are 1 better. and they look awesome too
  15. poor show from the OP, onto the second page now and no pic
  16. I've seen a couple of people do just that on my commute home from work. I always think they give the rest of us a bad name even if it was legal. I was not sure so have waited in the traffic. I'll have to check for the blue arrows when I go along there tonight.
  17. get something quite chunky, my father in law had a small one screwed to his wall, it was about 4 or 5cm tall and the same wide. It was just for his push bike and some little scrotes literally pulled it out of the wall. I have one like this attached to my concrete garage floor, it isn't budging. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRITON-BLACK-FLIP-GROUND-ANCHOR-MOTORCYCLE-STEEL-MOTORBIKE-FLOOR-LOW-PROFILE/263326206671?epid=1559983066&hash=item3d4f770acf&enc=AQADAAADAFjVrDbVsZ8oH%2F8PNHtt9VX4%2Fw7FZcmMuqsX8uaFEduVC29xuhGbchxqnPAVy%2F%2FcCzJCcoau4wR2iCFHw1E446vPQdR8zLKK4%2BZvHHqlNJ9eg0b0eEOv8evAf7bL1p5OPIJ9KRGW%2BFBb8u5R0AIxg%2BdV5aZHI51CENdblKOdG3dSKnjx4OmG8L72JwPfkV%2BLEKM4KfUL1w%2B15bBC7eeCI6a4zDGJNftGO3VnyWa1UGu6tE%2FTOYNdfbw9rGodudG7dxMTI90eFoTc3QGhad136Yq%2BMhirfCw7f0NWO3K1HzVjXQWMhjhksnKB4Sozf77Hi5cZ9WS%2FQWSZN5s7xzLpd18wv%2FKJ8XQ%2But6y%2BUr6NSQTaD1W%2Fdybsl8aFHA6ykpM4zu6ENmNIfinyII3ZP4kXHBJSDLeqHSq6JRhDjezJpIldmU7Ib8nZqXbJcF2sYXPVgW86Gw%2F0C%2FUcWAmjH6vhXZXh5zz0wgTNqPCkJBzfmX7PqAsaUTSlTmZ1vtfrZhpQ37KZjmwZtlekpC8j5rajOAxvTeZNYcd1E62aTQKhrIOKvxcuSGzHEqzfZzo37Mkg8F1Ww7XgpTRkjFeCp3c3Gjq2nsiHs1DljoD1TNkdKrWJxt38x7Fz%2FKumV2gTfJb7Lrj8Ei%2BT4vFoDeoM8OMXyO%2Fr6OJQR5pD48M8uV3THtbCYQ2qBpaziocCNdTkJqPvBr2yYUY96V2Zb0DAXsFLh1M0Rg88AfY1z0VVWAQc5p5FWxBVXB8ud%2FKszcDleiJYf2JQa0TumXDEBWF53IBMpbdtFocFtjywJF3XnYTWZWniDNY10I%2B4Vb5uOi86JOCDPttuwxRX5cJ8rqwg%2F7tXVQMDBANlCXhIC94W5MOAgaXGfWZGWX2ajI09VSWd86BsWh3ffQesVsTDCN84lsP2jU%2FOlUQqHIc33VYnUEJkQZZmHCKO8SiWHw4AixT1amDhXC17s2QJgBgQY8WI32pSPkT3j%2FnsY2NYr0Zl6EuPK%2BGdZ3vpybuRXfDy4A5Hg5SAg%3D%3D&checksum=263326206671904952a3f523420eb8ca492ff48cfc65
  18. I guess your bike is stored in a back garden? I know it doesn't help now, but I'd be fitting a ground anchor so you can attach to that.
  19. My suggestion was to replace what you have. I commute in bike trousers, shirt and tie under bike jacket, then when I get to work I swap bike trousers for work trousers. In the winter the bike stuff has a zip in/out liner which kept me warm down to about 2 or 3C with the help of a balaclava, when it got down to 0c I added a hoody and some extra mits over my normal gloves. The best way to go is layering, but you don't want to be putting much if anything over your main gear that prevents you from moving.
  20. I have an oxford montreal 3.0 jacket and montreal 2.0 pants. I wore them all through winter and only once did the let a small amount of water in near my stomach, and that was in torrential rain. I do top up the waterproofing with the sprays you can buy.
  21. Easy to solve, buy a small cheap car and wait till van moves and park it up in its place, it will cost you tax, insurance and an mot, I said it was easy I didn't say cheap I could take it one step further, I could buy a cheap van and get the side of it wrapped with a nice sea view then park that outside
  22. hopefully i slammed the brakes on and/or the rubbish truck blocked the view then
  23. the camera was facing towards the approaching traffic, so the only way it got me was if they had another camera out the front windscreen. I do love my new macbook by the lack of a SD- card slot compared to my old laptop is a right pain. Plugged my dash cam SD card in will have to wait until i get to work on monday.
  24. ill go and grab the SD card out of my dash cam and see if you can see the camera van past the rubbish truck or whether that has blocked me.
