  1. I won’t be joining a discussion on this one because it’s an emotive issue and we’ve been here more than once but much to my surprise on the front page of the paper today is this piece. Might be of interest to some when the final report is released next Tuesday. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jan/12/report-scale-abuse-ireland-mother-baby-homes?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  2. Yes there’s a lot of fluctuation. That’s why I made three trips at different times of the year and drove around adding the potential locations to my weather app and have been monitoring them for over 18months now. I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to making decisions that cost a lot of money!
  3. He’s in Granada and even their coldest weather is pretty darn good!
  4. They have and a lot of bloody sunshine
  5. No more sunny Spain.
  6. Well I hope it’s a short flounce. He’s missed.
  7. Peace back achya. Happy Birthday for yesterday. What did you do wrong to get an Alexa for your birthday?
  8. It’s certainly not in the past. Look up Downend School. For people dealing with it it’s very much in the present. The that’s all behind us approach doesn’t work for me because the victims don’t come forward until they are grown up so it’s possible to say “that’s all in the past” about child abuse victims forever.
  9. I’m pretty sure we’ve been down this road before. It went something along the lines of - depends on the numbers and the Catholic’s child abuse numbers are sky high. Then you reply something along the lines of that’s just because they don’t report it. Then I say blah blah blah and we have a go on a merry go round that leaves us both where we started except slightly annoyed If you’re happy with your children at Catholic school that is your choice... but it’s not theirs, you chose a religion for them and as a parent that’s your prerogative, it’s also where you and I differ.
  10. I have seen it and a horrifying Tuam mother and baby documentary. Not something people survived unscathed from, if they survived at all.
  11. These people are insane. I can’t imagine a scenario where the child’s innocence is exchangeable for higher chances of exam success but then again our nearest full on Catholic school is Downside. Only called out in 2018 for over 40yrs of systemic child abuse, covering up and turning a blind eye to paedophiles on a massive scale. If you mention sending your child to a Catholic School round here people will just wonder why you hate your kids!
  12. Well I assume he really is on his tod because I know other people who madly spend all day doing this stuff. It’s not a really a ride for them. They go out with the express intention of producing content for their channel so they can maintain followers and the income that goes with it. A second person could easily be involved, why be honest if it’s going to mess with the narrative. The photo’s of an off is simply modern day clown stuff, look at me aren’t I silly (yet at the same time so humble)... click like and follow... They’d give you jazz hands if they thought it would get an extra like
  13. Pregnant for 5 years Well I don’t wish to provoke any religious craziness with this post but listening to Stephen Fry clarity on - Is the Catholic Church a Force for Good? is enough to finish off the Catholic Church in any unbiased persons mind. Still available youtube for anyone with an interest!
  14. Yer that’s one thing about the Himalayan 220kg I’ve got 1 maybe 2 pick ups in me and then I’m done. Fortunately being a small female seems to trigger some people the same way as watching a child falling off does and they tend to rush to help- unless your riding with a group of women who will look at you in a “it’s your bike, you dropped it” type of way which we find amusing cos it has an edge of “oh dear you’ve done it now, wotcha gonna do about it?” I love big adventure bikes but I’m a shortarse so that’s never gonna happen. Problem with the better off road bike for me is the ground clearance- makes it far more likely I’m gonna be picking it up cos I can’t stop on uneven ground without coming a cropper!
  15. Have three different types of van and the enormous sprinter (so not practical for some things) is by far the easiest to load and unload, wide ramp and you can run the bike up and get in by yourself in one swoop. The smaller the van the harder it gets because you can’t step into it easily, you need a second person. Although I think forking out for a wide ramp is a useful addition for whatever van you end up with.
  16. Yep it’s not your regular bike for that stuff for good reasons I don’t know if you’ve ever been to the adventure bike festival but I did chuckle at large number of pristine large adventure bikes parked up outside the Waitrose cafe Not that adventures have to be muddy it’s just at odds with the way they market them and what people actually use off road.
  17. This’ll not go down well in some quarters but I’d avoid an old diesel. I have a diesel I’m loathed to part with but the current zeitgeist means everywhere has emissions targets and congested areas intend to achieve their targets by introducing congestion charging. London and Birmingham are just the start. Bristol council last year voted through banning diesels from the city centre from 2022 so unless I want to pay a whopping charge to drive in my car there it has to go. If you’re never intending on driving into a congested area that may be introducing congestion charging in the near future then dandy. Then again rules vary and if it’s old you might get charged anyway! Personally I think I should get shot of mine while I can get reasonable money for it, once it becomes a car you can only drive in certain places without incurring charges it’s not gonna have a lot of value. Trouble is I’m fond of it. BTW I know this is off topic but did the fuel get transferred without giving you a dousing?
  18. That’s the one and when I looked it was languishing in the box
  19. Worn out just watching it. When he was running through his initial approach I was thinking, well its the best approach but on a bike that heavy with the tree at that angle on ground so soft and such a tiny area of possible approach ... either he’s super skilled or probably just nooooooooo dont do it! My kermits would have seen that bike abandoned for a long walk home Good on him for showing his daftness in a vid, his ego’s in check at least!
  20. Yep my neotec 2 will also open just a crack, it was one of the things the guy in helmet city demonstrated as a selling point. Only problem Ive had with it is after about a year the visor didn’t seal shut properly which I discovered in a downpour. Went back to the shop, the guy said “Have you used the silicone?” “What silicone?” “Theres a little bottle of silicone in the box, you need to wipe a tiny tiny amount over the seal every 6 months or so, here I’ll put some on for you” Needless to say it fixed it immediately. Be warned, you only need a tiny amount, put it on and lightly wipe it off because if you get smears on your visor they are a pig to clean off....
  21. Nothing like a bit of guilt for producing large “Im sorry” gifts, I’m always torn over whether trying to demonstrate sorry with material things is ok or not. I kinda concluded that any form of saying sorry is fine so long as it’s meant. Got a whopping £400 hotel voucher this Christmas from a family member who has for the last 5+ years written a Christmas card to my husband and sons deliberately leaving my name off. Not sure how to respond to that one so I still haven’t! But 5... FIVE siblings crikey can’t imagine it.
  22. Got a lot of work on over the next couple of days so dunno if I’ll be about (hoorah, peace at last I hear you cry) thought best mention it before flounce theories start wafting about
  23. This is one has a laugh enhancement you can’t enjoy so I’ll sing my husbands version for you- “Hey motorbike rider, hey motorbike rider, lay back, wide ride.”
  24. I see your public service announcement and I raise you this unbeatable one-
