  1. I used a comparison site and ended up getting the best deal with Bennett's. Were about £50 cheaper than Bikesure for more or less the same coverage. Last year Bennett's weren't even in the picture so it seems to vary a lot year by year.
  2. That's probably why. I'd never really thought about it, it's just the way it was with the bike so it never really registered why at all.
  3. My son's Irish setter can't be kept out of water and the filthier it is the more she likes it. Consequently she is the stinkiest dog I've ever met. Despite frequently being washed she has doggy BO like you wouldn't believe. He invested in doggy deodorant (truly) but it makes little difference. The shame of it is she's one of the nicest natured dogs I've ever met and is really sociable.
  4. So you're not planning this for next summer then?
  5. I've had mine from new so I reckon it's standard.
  6. Most deranged I've seen was a few years back where the A1M splits just north of Washington services. I was heading towards the Team Valley in lane 3 when a few hundred yards in front of me a car slammed on its brakes and started reversing up lane 3 for about 50 yards so he could take the road to the Tyne tunnel! This was in peak morning traffic and caused chaos. Car's plates? Irish.
  7. You mean there's actually a way to negotiate that rather than just closing your eyes and hoping for the best? Well I never!
  8. Dedicated motorbike parking spaces in Cheltenham and Cirencester have really good sunken ground anchor points. Or at least some of them do. In the UK I suspect lockers like that would be a target for lowlifes looking to help themselves.
  9. Personally I think driving in Glasgow city is even worse than in London. The only advantage is it's a hell of a lot smaller so the death zone is easier to get out of.
  10. If it really works I could be interested in something like that. Assuming I could get one to fit or if Ducati brought out something similar. Wait a while until it's actually been tried and tested in real life as opposed to BMW's skunk works.
  11. Time travel has a major flaw, in that you can only return to a point in time that the machine actually existed, you could travel into the future and back to the point of when it first was activated, but you cannot go back in time beyond the point that it actually existed This is the logic of a man who only drinks instant coffee. The world poo-poos your insights And don't forget he rides a Chinese bike! Obviously got a very twisted psyche. He does fish though so he's not entirely gone to the dark side.
  12. Congratulations, enjoy it! I do and I've got number 4 to look forward to at the end of the year. All going well that will see me with 3 boys and a girl. Guess who's the boss?
  13. I drink instant tastes better than some of the garbage that is supposed to be fresh Detest instant coffee and certainly wouldn't pay for it out. Some coffee can be pretty vile though especially if it's filtered and then left on a hot plate for a while. Truly horrible then. As I've said before I am a terrible coffee snob.
  14. The trouble with stainless is there are a huge number of types of stainless steel. Generally the easiest to get hold of are A2/304 and A4/316. The A2 is generally not much cop and tends to get brittle. Also all stainless work hardens like a bast*rd as anyone who's cocked up drilling it could tell you. Also it's not as strong as high tensile steel so other than cosmetic stuff I'd not use it on the bike.
  15. For some reason my bike came with a standard one on the back tyre but a 90 degree one on the front.
  16. It seems to be a bit variable though as when my son was in the navy he got all sorts added on to his license. Nothing really exotic but most of what I have and mine dates to 1980. No HGV or PSV.
  17. Probably a council employee.
  18. Councils. Providing employment to the unemployable. I like this statement even if there are some decent people working for councils. That said my local council - Stroud - is spending god knows how much for an "anti-racism" campaign. So far as I'm aware we are not exactly a hot bed of the KKK or the BNP. Our council is forever having "woke" campaigns. XR was largely started by one of our local loonies and we've a shed load of them.
  19. Can you not check it's mileage against the records of MOT's? The seat looks very worn for less than 16000 miles.
  20. Don't like it's looks so not for me. And no it doesn't look like a Multistrada.
  21. Just read this. https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/bikes/mv-agusta/mv-agusta-turismo-veloce-800-lusso-2018-review. Now I know that I need one. Added to my "when I win the lottery list".
  22. To be fair I've had some excellent food in China. I tend to go for the seafood though which is kind of difficult to pass something else off for.
  23. Not now, not ever.
  24. I'm with Xtreme as well. For a while now even before Covid I've been trying not to buy Chinese products. Yes it's not easy, particularly with electronics and some components are often going to end up coming from there but a lot of the key components are actually made in Taiwan and in the case of chip sets the USA. I've been to China and didn't particularly enjoy the experience.
  25. I'd agree with Milton Keynes but I quite like Helensburgh. Never noticed a problem with it when I was there for a few weeks back in the day.
