  1. Don't airlenes call it uncontained catastrophic engine failure Don't know about airlines but when one of our turbo chargers threw a blade at 16000 rpm we used the technical term - cluster f**k. Fortunately the casing retained most of the debris but in total it cost a cool million euros to put right. Did nothing for the following year's insurance premium
  2. 10,000 rpm is quite high for continuous operation. Less than most large turbines but still high. Have you seen what happens when a turbine blade let's go at high speed? Really messy.
  3. All joking aside I do wonder if we'll see ceramics on bikes. I'd have thought they'd be prone to shattering. Haven't been impressed with ceramic knives at all.
  4. Saw a US Marines one of those in the Persian Gulf a few years back. Their assault ships use them instead of old fashioned landing craft. Stealthy they are not as you can hear them coming from miles away. Bloody fast though.
  5. Yeah she is but looks as if she's finally starting to come back to the real world.
  6. That's why she was missing in action. She was in Wuhan eating bat burgers.
  7. I think my thumb would cramp up the list would be sooo long!
  8. I think it's the lockdown driving us to drink.
  9. Yeah, the Aussies might be daft but not by that much!
  10. You can get Hobgoblin in my local supermarkets. Not a bad beer.
  11. 4X also do a craft beer which is pretty good. These days like most places in Oz there are (or where pre Covid) lots of micro-breweries and many of them make good beer.
  12. The ads were good though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8q_u3MCkss Stays sharp till the bottom of the glass Translate to, will be flat before you finish. Seem to remember it was usually flat before you started! Drank a lot of it in my teens cos it was cheap.
  13. At least it's not Swan Lager from Perth, Australia. That's prob'ly the worst.
  14. I nicked a bottle of gin from my parents and smuggled it into the Theatre Royal in Newcastle when were dragged to watch the RSC Twelfth Night (Shakespeare for English O level). Shared it out with my mates, neat and warm. It did not end well.
  15. FOSTER'S!!!!
  16. The problem with lager is in the UK we've been exposed to some right rubbish lager. Anyone remember Harp lager? Horrible brew. Real lager like a genuine Czech Budweiser pilsner isn't bad. Ditto a lot of the micro brewery lagers in Germany and elsewhere are alright. That said I'll drink them in foreign parts but not at home where I can be a fussy bugger.
  17. I don't mind the odd really dry cider like Dunkertons Black Fox on a hot summer day but for a session it just disagrees with me. The after effects involve the phrase "eye of a needle" and further info you can add yourself.
  18. Proper beer Didn't mention lager, right foreign muck. Proper beer is what you want none of this overblown fruit juice. Theakstons, Black Sheep, Spitfire, any proper ale even stout will do.
  19. I remember the Wurzels when I was s teen-ager, lo these many years ago. I thought it was funny never having met a real life Wurzel. About 20 years ago when my daughter was at Dartmouth I met my first real ones. Jesus they are real! Later when I was living in Somerset half my neighbours were and some of the real old style cider pubs (nothing effete like beer allowed) in Bristol were an eye-opener. Quite a shock to me with my sheltered life to that date.
  20. My Multistrada is coming up for 8000 miles and 2 years old. Stored mainly outside under a cover except when I'm away then it's in my daughter's garage. Gets used year round when I am home so the only real cosmetic issue is the underside of the cat. That's prone to discoloration. A gentle scrub with heavy duty bleach followed by a wash brings it up shiny. Quite pleased with it really given its Italian. Been (touch wood) totally reliable.
  21. I was actually out on my bike as I had to take some stuff into hospital for my wife. Still haven't seen her for over a fortnight and speaking is difficult. Still she is improving and actually asking for sensible stuff. Baby steps but in the right direction.
  22. Not really as with it being a flip lid it's difficult to find a space unless I go full bore and get the kit designed for the helmet which is hundreds
  23. Have a similar problem. Have a drift camera which is fine. Bought the external mike and then found there was no space in the helmet for the mike and me. My helmet is a Schuberth C3 Pro and the gap between my chin and the chinbar is too small for the mike.
  24. So you are responsible for the flour shortages hey? Tsk tsk. For weight gain those goodies will certainly do the business. Don't ask me how I know as the scales march relentlessly upwards.
  25. As I'm as mechanically minded as Hagar the Horrible I'll admit I haven't a clue what you are on about. Does that mean I can get out? Please......
