  1. I've got a MIVV double gun slip on waiting to be fitted when I can retrieve it from my daughter's place in Barnard Castle. Looks way better than the pretty ugly OEM.
  2. Well known fact that Cornishmen have webbed feet. Who's left to insult?
  3. Nothing like a good Trans Pennine bash! Now I'm down sarf doing missionary work I can piss off all my neighbours too by banging on about how the north is so much ....... (Fill in adjective of choice).
  4. The trouble with insulting Yorkshire is it's just too easy. - Thick in t'arm, thick in t'head. Long pockets, short arms etc etc etc. Course originally I was from Lancashire so that may have something to do with my attitude to Yorkshire.
  5. Oh give us a break I like my sails... We are not all bad its the professionals sleeping on the bridge, Radar and AIS (class B filtered out off course) alarms set, CH16 turned down relying on GMDSS, ECDIS set for auto plotting with the lookout down cleaning accommodation that scare me PS Present choice of anchor is Fortress FX I have done my time with Stevpris. When we had the boat our best anchor was a Manson Supreme. Excellent piece of kit and as long as you had sufficient chain out would hold in some quite horrible conditions.
  6. Anchoring and colregs are good for heated argument even on professional sites. Chuck in twats with sails and it gets really heated. Have been known to stir the shit on that one occasionally. Typical motor boat crowd. Chugging along drinking gin with no idea they're buggering up a windward mark. My motor boat's a bit bigger than the average but sadly the gin is a no-no. Back in the day when I too was a WAFI I used to keep well clear of anything which was bigger than me and to hell with the colregs.

  8. Why do cyclists feel the need to ride up a hill in a mob when it's a double white line? Not so bad if I'm on the bike but if in the car it's good for some frothing on my part. Twats.
  9. Have a Kelly kettle and used to use it when fishing from a boat in the Irish Lough's. Pull ashore for lunch and flash it up using driftwood twigs for fuel. Too big and bulky to carry on a bike or backpack. Nowadays tend to use a Trangea as I can cook on it as well. That said it's a while since I've camped wild or otherwise. Like a hot bath after a hard day's walking / fishing / biking etc. followed by fine dining and wining.
  10. I was out yesterday but my phone died so no pics. Marlborough, Hungerford, Wantage, Wayland's Smithy, Cirencester, Slad and home. On the Ridgeway the wind was quite brisk. Like JRH glad I had a heavy bike. So many good roads especially in Oxfordshire blighted with 50 mph limits. Sadly my eyesight isn't too good when it comes to numbers.
  11. Not practical on ships with a 24 hour turnaround. That said my ship is supposed to be going to do floating storage off Singapore. We shall see.
  12. Good you made it. I am supposed to go back in July but quite how that's going to work i have no idea.
  13. Why would anyone steal your bike Dynax? Thought you'd be safe from that at least.
  14. Never ridden a bike in a suit. Apart from weddings and funerals never wear the bloody thing except for once a year visit to the office for attitude adjustment. Hate ties as well. What the f**k is the point of them?
  15. I got out yesterday went to Malvern via some good back roads. Not much traffic either. Black Hill
  16. My local Ducati dealer also deals in HD's. Seems to offer a decent service. That said buying a Harley seems to entail buying into a "lifestyle" and most of the Harley people I see at the dealer are my age or older. I'm no youth sadly. Whereas you'll see younger guys mooning over the Ducatis you don't see them doing the same with the Harleys. I think HD really needs to try and broaden their appeal. Don't know how though. PS I really enjoy F9's vids.
  17. Don't think Skegness counts as a dream holiday. However somewhere good I'll take the holiday. Also every BBQ I've ever been to buggers the steaks badly.
  18. Yesterday had a ride just for fun. Did a bit of the Cotswolds near me and did stretch the NSL a bit. Felt great. Helmet cam battery died before I'd gone a mile A46 South of Nailsworth to M4 junction is not a bad road at all. Back by way of Tetbury and Cirencester. Need to change my tyres soon, can't decide whether to stick with the Pirellis or try Metzlers. Decisions, decisions.
  19. What's next? The way this year is going probably an invasion by aliens or an asteroid strike.....
  20. That's one for the books: get divorced and kill your dog.
  21. I rest my case. Totally lacking.
  22. I must have missed something. Who's got style and charisma on this forum?
  23. Blanket quarantine is pointless. Targeted is fair enough but explain why as it stands you can come from France without quarantine but not from Germany which dealt with it better than France? Shipping is moving in and out of the country constantly. Crews interact with shore staff so even with protection risk of transmission exists. People working in care environments may need to be quarantined but do you quarantine every time you go to a supermarket? Still exposed to the risk of transmission. 100% safe for 100% of the time is not achievable. Testing only shows you haven't got the virus at the point of testing. You could catch it 10 minutes later. I don't have a magic bullet and neither does anyone else but I do think there's been an element of hysteria to all this.
  24. Quarantine at this stage is pointless. The virus is already here.
  25. Sun is shining here but it's a bit chilly.
