textile v cordura
billy sugger replied to johnakay's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
The outer layer of either textile or cordura is not waterproof, which is the reason for a inner layer of Gortex or similar material, but cordura is better at not ripping to bits in the event of a slide, (trust me, I know this) -
Something to look forward to then

Staying in bed. There is 4 people in this house and we have all been hit by an infection. I have a sore throat and headache, very runny nose, and last night started throwing up lots of fleghm. It's not Covid, so hopefully just a nasty cold. Will be knocking back some night nurse later

Hi folks, the plastics at the front of the 600, that the screen fits to is going grey, so I want to restore it to the original black. Is there anything out there I can use, or will the stuff for car dashboards do the job?
-
Sounds like a vacuum operated fuel tap or similar. Sucking on the pipe opens the tap and fuel flows. These systems are normally operated via airflow to the carbs.

I have the opposite effect, it's fine until I take the helmet off

It helps keep leather supple as well, so handy for rubbing into new gloves for breaking them in
-
Leather genie is good stuff. I use it on all my leathers, and so far have no issues with rain

Sanding down some dining chairs. Although they were given to me they are in a poor state. I am sanding down to bare wood, then will stain/varnish them. Looks like the paint has been applied over some sort of varnish/lacquer in places, so quite a bodge job. All done by hand.

Came back home at just the right time. It got windy and has now begun raining, and I was in my summer leathers, and they fit inside my boots, not over them

Ridden it to St Neots, currently sat in a cafe with a bacon roll and cup of tea. One other biker here, sat outside in black and yellow textile jacket (very clean), and a helmet with magic roundabout characters on it

Latest from Dozy Twat Trump, Putin is a genius for invading Ukraine. How the fxxk did such a brain dead pillock like him (Trump, that is), get to be a President Of good ol USA

I can't understand why it needs to have a balance pipe. Both exhausts are equal length, so unless there are forces at work that I don't know about it should be fine on independant singles either side

Bike and pics now in for sale section
-
As title my 250 is for sale, as landlord wants to knock down the garage. Bike is a 1997 250TWOFIFTY, same style as a nighthawk. Bike runs, but needs new battery, and the balance pipe linking the exhausts has rusted through, so needs new exhausts. This was my daily runabout until I got pulled by old bill, and it turned out M/C entitlement was missing from licence so got a 18 month ban. Its stood in the garage a while, but got started and run regularly until I went into hospital for cancer, and has remained untouched until I started it up on the day I sold the 125. I would like £750 or VNO. There is a Givi rack and box with it as well.

As title says, I am selling my ABBA bike stand, with a couple of accessories. £40 buyer collects as I can't afford to post it

Dropped it. I went to the garage to get pics of the 250,and some neanderthal/throwback had parked a people carrier type vehicle, (quite tall and about 3 rows of seats), across the hard surface in the alleyway, (probably the type to take up 2 spaces in a car park). Anyway, I had to take to the muddy strip to get past and the rear slid out from under me. Had to get a passer-by to help me right it, so bike was plastered in mud, along with my kit. Never got the pics though. Jet washed bike when I got home, and kit is in the washing machine

How come it's so clean? My rear shock gets bloody filthy even with the rear hugger I fitted to help keep road muck off it
-
Will take some on Thursday, when I will have the time to go to the garage.
-
I have the CB250 TWO FIFTY version, exactly the same as the nighthawk, and I want to sell it due to landlord wanting garage back.

I hope we don't call for a red alert, cos then some poor sod will have to change all the bulbs
