    Are you still on L plates? Your instructor would have taught to "own the road", and to ride in a position roughly 2/3rds of the way from the kerb, or about 2 feet from the centre white line. On the CBT they will tell you that it is a fail to allow cars to pass you like that by sticking too close to the kerb. The same goes for split speed bumps, (the ones with gaps,) you should use the gap closest to the centre line.

    According to Gov. Uk you need insurance to tax a vehicle, though you do not need the documents in your hand. They now run your reg through the database automatically and will not allow tax to be purchased without valid insurance

    I prearranged the insurance on the 600 to become live at the time I was due to collect it, then as soon as the V5 bit was in my hands I taxed it online. It already had a current MOT, so the moment I sat on it I was fully legal to ride off

    I tried heated gloves, but they became such a faff connecting/disconnecting them when getting on the bike/off the bike I quickly returned to heated grips. I have Honda OEM ones on the 600,and they are brilliant. I like how they go into standby mode if the bike is just ticking over, but kick in once reaching 1800rpm,or thereabouts
