  1. Take no notice of me as I have not passed my test yet but hopefully will be in the market in a few months. Obviously I have been looking loads and have my eye on so many FZR8, CBR650 and also MT-07. Like I said I have no experience but just what I like the look of.
  2. Ok I passed my CBT in November and have a Honda CB125F, which I really enjoy. However it was only ever to get me some practice before getting full license this spring. So next is to get my theory done. My local center can fit me in on Thursday (4 days only) or not until the 25th Feb. Am I being stupid and should give myself more time to swat up? Thing is if I fail that I will have to wait a while to retake due to availability. I know I shouldn't rush this but my Mrs and son are going away for a week early April and I want to use that week to do my full test. No distractions and all that. Am I being to ambitious or is it realistic that they s can be done?
  3. Oxford heated grips paired with Halvassons advanced laminated gloves. Cold hands are a thing of the past.
  4. Just had the third service on my car and was told it was a "visual" inspection. Nothing was done at all.
  5. I have ordered the Halvassons, when I tried them on they felt great. Found this review, a little old but quite promising. https://www.motolegends.com/halvarssons-advance-gloves-review
  6. When I was younger I always wanted an R1 SP, I think it was one of the first road bikes to break the HP per KG ratio (but I might be wrong). Anyway black bike with gold wheels what's not to love.
  7. Thank you arwen I think I am sold on these gloves, they did feel great in the shop.
  8. Thanks gerontious. Debating whether to give them a go, they felt good on, not too thick.
  9. Went into my local bike shop and was recommended Halvassons, does anyone know anything about these? They felt nice, not too thick, I have heated grips so might not need thick gloves. https://www.bikestop.co.uk/halvarssons-advance-laminate-waterproof-leather-gloves?nosto=nosto-recently-viewed
  10. Right the grips arrived this afternoon, theta re all fitted and working well. Just need to give them a test run.
  11. I am currently using cat boots. They are not ideal as they will wear out on top but they are comfy.
  12. Thanks onsea I always have the train or work from home as an alternative if the weather is really bad. I have no intention of riding in extreme weather conditions. Also I already have a 2017 Honda CB125F which is quite upright so should be a decent seating position. I have ordered some Oxford heated grips for a little extra warmth.
  13. I am looking at what winter hand combination I should go for. I have been looking for what seems like hours at winter gloves. Everything from gerbing heated to richa gore Tex ones and I can't make up my mind. So I have been thinking of combining both heated grips and a cheaper set of gloves. For example the Oxford heated grips are £50 at the moment with a set of Richa carbon gloves or IXS arctic. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/101831 - I have noticed there are sports, touring commute versions. What is the difference? https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_rev/33557 - these have had recommendations as decent gloves on some sites. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/299789 - edging towards these over the carbon due to the gore Tex lining. Thoughts please.
  14. Can't you hire a bike, I know it's going to cost you but if it means you can keep your job it may be worth it.
  15. Looks great, always liked the FZR. I fancy one of those or a CB650 when I upgrade.
  16. Thanks goat, I am definitely going to give it a go in the spring. One or two test runs on a weekend first. I always have the train as backup if the weather is not good.
  17. I don't recall saying I was an expert at anything bike related. In fact I distinctly remember saying I was a novice.
  18. I have a CB125 F, I think honda state it can do 70mph, however I suspect that is downhill with a tailwind. I have got 60 out of it so far and it was not on the rev limiter.
  19. I am worried that it will end up being an unenjoyable commute and i dont want that to happen. I know i would be better with a larger bike and i will be working on it come spring, particularly like the CB650 F but would definitely consider the 400 as well.
  20. I do,i have been given a space in the underground car park.
  21. cheers all the plan is to give it a few runs in the spring to see if its worth doing longer term. there are no plans to do it during the bad weather.
  22. thanks Spanner, the plan is to get my full license but there is a chance it wil lneed to wait until summer 2020. Daughter at uni draining funds.
  23. OK, so i am thinking of using my bike to commute the entire journey to work. Please let me know if this is a stupid idea as it sounds fine to me but needs experienced eyes and brains to validate. I live in Hertfordshire and work in London EC3A 7AW, journey total is 34miles (approx 1h 30mins in a car, hopefully less on a bike). As a new rider with only a CBT currently i have got the directions from Google maps excluding motorways. My route seems pretty simple and will take me down the A10 (this leads almost to my office). So am i stupid attempting such a journey while being a novice rider and only on a 125? I am a 40 something who has driven a car for many years so hopefully road sense is better than your average learner. I am also intending to do a test run of the journey on a Sunday to see what it entails. plan is to do this starting in the spring.
