  1. In Cambridge they have bollards that pop up in the middle of the road so only vehicles with a special sensor can get past for example buses, taxis and emergency services. Anyone else it will pop up regardless if you're still on top of it!!
  2. Thank you everyone had a brilliant day, then went go karting today down at wild tracks. Definitely worth it even if it is expensive!!

    Cuts to benefits

I remember reading that benefits will be capped at £26,000 a year so they don't get more than people who work. I get less than half of that a year and work full time!! How is that fair, and then they even tax me and make me pay national insurance which is 15% of my wages gone before I even see them! The system is messed up they need to scrap it and start again, too many people are living the good life out of OUR pockets!!
  4. Some interesting stories I wouldn't mind working in a garden centre sounds like fun to me I love getting hands on and dirty the best feeling is when you go home aching all over because then you know you've done a good days work. I looked into the whole moving departments but that's a big no, I can't say exactly why but put it this way if people leave they won't be replaced.. I've been keeping an eye out for jobs, mainly the ones I've seen have been in retail, but there are plenty of interesting jobs out there I just don't have the qualifications or experience they require I would like to be able to utilise my forklift driving licence because I used to enjoy using them. At my old job I used to install conveyor systems and lifts, we fitted new ones in every IKEA in the country so as you can imagine trying to get 3 meter long conveyors around there wasn't easy but was a fun challenge. I've also got a licence for a Cherry Picker and a Scissor Lift and I've completed a harness awareness course which are all at the moment wasted working at that orange place!!
  5. I believe you have to file a claim saying the buyer didn't pay because eBay will still charge you for the listing. This happened to me when I put my phone on there and the person wanted me to send it to Nigeria!!!!!
  6. Personally I'd let the insurance companies fight it out, at the end of the day your insurers aren't going to want to pay out so if there is any incorrect or missing information it's going to work in your favour. I would wait for them to contact you if they need to, they deal with these sorts of claims on a daily basis so should know what they're doing!
  7. I don't mind the cold too much so I'm not worried about that. Every day I work above my Level, on my Personal development plan it says to be a level 2 you need to be seen actively filling brochures.. And sorting out SAPCO (orders) when they've been done wrong. I think the main problem is that the managers are never about to see me do any of it. I put myself forward for the first aid course which I've now done and I'm also on the list to be trained on the timber saw, and I'm on the list for forklift and power pump truck training. I've even sorted out problems my supervisor was struggling with!!
  8. I did want to move up to higher levels (we have 5 then you move up to supervisor, trading manager etc etc) and I've been there a year and a half and i'm still a level 1 even tho I work my arse off every day doing the jobs no one else wants to do like picking orders and lugging stuff around. When I had my last 2 Appraisals I had new management and got the same answer from both: "I don't know you well enough to put you up a level, but we will look at it next time". I'm now working with my 4th manager and 3rd supervisor so do I really have any chance? I can't really comment on how well we are doing due to this being a public forum but let's just say that might play a part in my decision.. I would love to start my own business but I don't really know much about it and don't have the finances to be able too. I want to be a success and make my family proud of me, but I don't think I'm in the right occupation to do so. I do enjoy working with most of the people there, but I think you should enjoy your job as well because you tend to be better at it if you're passionate about something. I think maybe a change of departments might help, the weather is getting nicer and Seasonal/Gardening seems nice and relaxed so might have to put on an orange apron instead. Thanks for all the advice i really appreciate it P.S. @NearOn I haven't spotted that big red machine in the car park yet!!
  9. I currently work in retail at one of those big orange DIY stores at the trade counter, but I want something more exciting, something that I will enjoy doing and will actually look forward too. Because at the moment work is exactly that work, it's not something I enjoy and I just feel like I'm under valued and under paid for the amount of work I do. I've been looking out for a new job now for months but haven't found anything. I know jobs aren't a available as they used to be but they've got to be out there right? Most people I've spoken to just say; "You should be glad you've got a job". Which yes I am glad, but only because I get paid (a measly amount) every month! I just want something exciting, unusual, and with potential to move me on with a career and a healthy wage packet of course. Because me and my other half and our little one want to get our own place but simple cant afford it, and now with all the benefit cuts we couldn't even afford a council house, instead we're stuck with the in laws. Does anyone have any advice on what sort of jobs I should look for, or websites to look at etc? I don't really have an idea set in stone as to what I want to do but I'm more of a hands on person I like to see what I've achieved at the end of the day. Anyways I'll shut up now!!

    Fuel Cap Vent

BANG!! And your pistons are gone!
  11. No, I didn't really explain that very well. The battery reads 13v when I press the starter button, I put the multimeter on the connections for the horn and pressed it and it read 6v
  12. I bump started it a few months ago but the grass is too wet to be running up and down the garden at the moment so I don't know to be honest. But it was the same situation back then as it is now. Yes I cleaned the connection points but I can't find where it's grounde to the frame. I've been out there most of the day unplugging connections and giving them a good clean with some sand paper and wd40. Really stuck now I tested the voltage when pressing the ignition and it was around 13v. I read about testing the loom for faults with the multimeter but I'm not sure how I go about that.. I tested the horn with the multimeter and that was around 6v which I don't know if its meant to be that or 12v? Really don't want to take it to the garage with an electrical fault cause I know they'll see the £ signs!!! But it's looking like I'll have too
  13. So after fitting the solenoid and putting the fully charged battery I'm still in the same situation!! Not impressed what else could it be?! I did notice when i press the horn it just makes a pitiful noise, not even a beep so I'm assuming its something to do with the loom that end? I've taken the clocks off and checked all the connections they all seem fine so I'm stuck now with what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as always
  14. I unplugged it during the night and its dropped down to 16v so I guess I'll just put it in the bike and hope for the best!!
  15. It indicates on it the level of charge in the battery and it says fully charged but when I unplug it, it shows that it isn't fully charged!!
  16. That's what I thought!! Should I take it off charge or what? It's a 12v battery charger for all types of battery so I don't see why it's charging at such a high voltage. It does say it charges rapidly at 600mA/Hour This is the one I got. http://bit.ly/XTICMb
  17. Just a quick update, fitted the new solenoid earlier after taking half the bike apart and the battery is on charge so I'll reassemble it all tomorrow and drop the battery in and give it a go!! I checked as many of the connections I could which I why I took all the back fairings off and also checked the indicator relay? The pins had a bit of corrosion so I gave them a rub down with sand paper and popped it back so hopefully that will solve the indicator problems. Just a quick question I checke the voltage of the battery and its reading just over 17v and when disconnected its reading the same, dropping a couple but staying above 17v and ending up static. Is this normal?! The charger is for my battery...
  18. Just bought a battery charger and a new solenoid so will charge up the battery and give it a go next week when I've got some time off, fingers crossed!! Cheers for all your help so far I'll let you know the outcome
  19. I would take if for a long ride but its not taxed, mot'd or insured at the moment so that's a big no no. The indicators are new and work fine when the bike is running, I'm not too bothered about those at the moment though just wanna get the bike to start then ill worry about them Yes I've heard about bridging the solenoid but its a pain in the arse to get too I have to remove the seat back fairing petrol tank and air box just to get to it!! So I'm thinking of just charging the battery up and giving it a go, if that doesn't work then ill replace the solenoid and if that doesn't work I'm f***** haha. I cleaned the battery terminals with some sandpaper and got rid of a load of shite that was on them so hopefully that'll help. Someone at work mentioned it could be the fuses, is that possible? If so I have no idea where to find them and what ones I'd need to replace them..
  20. That's not cheap though!! I found this one on eBay http://bit.ly/XTICMb which is cheaper and from what I can tell does the same job.. I will have a look around the bike for any loose connections anywhere in particular I need to focus on? I have a volt metre which I can use if that would be any help?
  21. I tried rocking the bike back and forth whilst in gear but it made no difference. However I haven't tried tapping the solenoid, are you thinking the switch may be stuck?
  22. Bit of an old thread but I'm taking the bike to the garage at the end of the month so I want to try and resolve the problem myself, it's still the same as before. I'm going to invest in a battery charger and charge the new battery to see if that helps, I'm also gonna buy a solenoid just in case that helps because I have a feeling the garage are going to say its the starter motor that's f***** which is gonna cost £££'s My question is, which charger is suitable for my battery? This is the one in question http://bit.ly/MrJ5Tw I read or heard somewhere that gel batteries require a different charger compared to acid ones. Is this correct or can I just use any motorcycle charger? What other things should I check before she goes to the garage? Thanks in advance

    Seat recover

I haven't done it myself but I've watched this video in the past and it seems pretty straight forward. "> His other videos are worth watching as well.
