1. I bought new and Chinese. It was basically a good bike with only a little bit of finishing being evidently cheap (oil filler cap made of butter and headstock bearing going after 5k. If I had not passed my test it would have done fine for another few years. All of that said I lost 1500 pounds on it over 18 months because they don’t hold value. Buy second hand Japanese.
2. I would have become bored on less than a six hundred. By now (9months post DAS), I keep looking at bigger bikes on eBay as it is, with no good reason. My six hundred does everything and can go quickly.
3. My bike ran right up until it didn’t. No signs of failing or running badly just ran out of electric and wouldn’t get more. Plug battery into something and it runs, disconnect the supply and it runs out of Battery again.
4. Breadsnapper here you go
5. Stu pointed in the right direction to test my stator cool when my ref/rev was knackered. Having spent out on a proper grand ref Rev I then discovered it had not resolved the problem. There is a topic on here of me being talked through testing it. That way you only have to replace the actually knackered part
6. Looking forwards to the restoration thread
7. Found that searching for f ref cbr400

9. When it’s allowed we’ll have to go for that spin fastbob
10. Allotment again. Built at sites a 260cm by 390cm raised bed ready for the tent poles I have bought to net it so I can have it as a brassica bed. Also sorted out the submersible pump so I can pump the water I collect in my blue buts into my IBC, I rigged some guttering on my poly tunnel to fill those. Built another bed 130 by 390 to site tomorrow. Feeling really good about the plot and we really enjoy it all as a family which is ace.
11. Crikey, I am excited for you
12. I the end it was the spring, the clutch and the fact that the piston was scored and damaged. Ended up putting anew second hand engine on.
13. Yes, I guess but don’t know that a lot of people don’t go the other side. Where I tagged is about as far as is reasonable to go without proper winter boots and maybe crampons in the winter. You can feel emerald in a winter mountain scene in a way I had not known was possible in the uk.
14. My turn. Nicer unite visa
15. I think the fugly is why I lean towards the Honda.
16. Yes absolutely allowed. I also remember when the guys Hiyabusa and the superblackbird cake out. I want to ride both maybe own one, I’m drawn to the Honda.
17. Whiling away the hours with pointless chat; When I was twelve my Dad’s Girlfriend’s son had a zxr400, this would be about 1994. He rode up to the top of our road and back with me on the back. That was probably my introduction to bikes. When I can afford to have multiple bikes I shall buy one of these. I thought it would be my first bigger bike but there was not one the right price and I worried I would bore of a four hundred. Once I had been getting bike mags in my teens I found myself wanting an Aprillia Pegaso 650. No idea why I just liked the look of it. I plan to look for an opportunity to test drive one so I have at least ridden one. There four four models of 600s all out at the same time that seemed to be compared regularly in the bike mad, one was the Yamaha Thundercat (or something like that). They all looked good, I nearly bought the yammy as my first bike. Now over to you, what have your bike fantasies been, why and have you satisfied those fantasies and what wa stage result?
18. That is a cover over the key slot that is opened with a shaped but sticking out from the key. Extra layer of protection or deterrent
19. Alas I am entirely above board.
20. How do you get these maps?
21. What about the generator cover not being tight enough. Could that have anything?
22. The zzr600 is a sports tourer. I’ve not ridden much big stuff. Did my test on a cb600 and I have ridden a Honda nc750s for a few months. My old zzr kicks the arse on the new nc750s, I enjoy it more, it’s more comfy and it’s quicker. I doubt you can go wrong with a 600 sports/sports tourer. Don’t think just because higher CC it’s more pokey, that seems not always to be the case in my limited experience. In your shoes I would search on Fleabay within a budget range, maybe 2-4K leaving you money for toys and insurance and sit scrolling until something looks exciting to you.
23. Brakes are next weekend’s job. Been putting it off because I’m nervous
24. Hi gang. The problem seems to have resolved a bit. I need to check more on the way to work on Monday. Only thing different is I have lost some oil from a leak. Could too much oil have affected the power?
