1. I've learned long ago that you HAVE to look where you want to go. Look at the obstacule and you will hit it
2. This would be great to have here
3. I always keep a wee brass brush (the one you get for suede shoes) to clean the plugs, is strong enough to do the job but it won't damage the plugs.
4. That's the idea Of course only when the inner filter is in need of a new one
5. Hello all. Honda is well known to have a weird preference to make things difficult to themselves (honda howners). So, in the ST1300 the ideal place Honda found to put the fuel filter is next to the pump inside the lower tank. Because I've finish 1 of my 3 ongoing projects and starting to get bored I looked into what others say the filter should be changed. According to Honda, this is to be done when the pump goes bust and the whole kit costs around £150 depending on where you get it. There are a few filters on ebay from £40 up to £85 OEM Now... A normal high flow reusable filter costs between £10 and £20 and some even come with a glass casing so you can inspect it. A disposable filter is about the same figure. Has anybody fitted an external filter to the Pan European instead of replacing the internal one? thanks in advance
6. First I washed the car, park it at the end of the drive and washed bike Then started the engine, noticed the fuel was 3 bars. So.... I "HAD" to go for petrol. Got the gear, turn the bike around (facing the road) and I went for petrol. I really like the 97 Oct petrol from Sainsbury, so I went from home to Cardenden, Kirkcaldy, petrol station, Glenrothes and home again. Just a wee 15 miles "fundamental" fuel trip

Awwww thank you guys
8. Stu I find it quite rude that people decided to hack a diy post to sell their rugs instead of creating their own threads on the dedicated section of the forum...
9. Years ago I went on to the beach on my Africa Twin, 30c very hot so I decided to ride light. Shorts trainers and T-shirt. That was the first and last time I went on the bike without proper gear. Halfway home I was "hit" by a poor beetle at 60mph. Had to stop and recover. the impact felt like a bullet. From then I always wear proper gear.

Hello!

Hello and welcome. The solution for rust in fuel tank is a tricky one. You can try some rust converter, just pour the content of the full bottle and rotate the tank to make sure all the sides are coated. I don't know how petrol reacts to this product so worthwhile testing it fist on some metal surface. The other issue is that once rust contaminated the inside of the tank you won't be able to remove it easily. Other than that I would suggest a new tank and solve the problem for good. On the other hand, if you're good at mechanics and welding, you can always disassemble the tank use a small grinder with an abrasive disk to remove the rust completely and weld it back again, but by the time you add all the hours and paintwork you probably going to spend more than just getting a good second hand tank and you won't have a tank with a thinner wall.
13. Thank you gymwitch a wee bit of swearing... Mostly Portuguese ones so doesn't really count
14. First try on tank, not too bad Keep in mind that is just loose on top of the tank but will fit really well when I put the straps. Will be fitting these beauty when I complete the whole thing
15. It could be that is "sulphated" this happens when they sit doing nothing for long periods (anything over 6 weeks is a very long time for a battery) There are some chargers that can fix the battery and they aren't expensive. If you live in Scotland, I'll be happy to plug your battery to my charger and see if it can revive it. It happened to me with my old battery, I thought was dead and now I have 2 working batteries
16. JUST A MACHINE?????? How dare you Sir???? Calling a motorbike "just" a machine... A motorcycle is something far greater than the sum of it's parts it's true , but it's still a machine . Well.... This is outrageous!!!! You're made of meat so calling you a person or a rumpsteak should mean the same following that logic. I'm glade my dear Bikey isn't listening to all these nonsense, would cost me a fortune in therapy...

18. Forgot to mention. a couple of pics of the damaged area could help to have a better idea of the affected area.
19. Unless the dear lady run over it a small hit like that won't make any structural damage. If when you ride it there was no odd pull to the side you're fine with it.
20. Time for another wee update. Making progress in joining sides (left) to the top bit. The cut for the fuel cap will be done once the cover is done so it doesn't go out of line
21. If the power supply for your Sat-Nav is regulated to 5V (USB) you will have a residual current which will slowly drain the battery regardless the device being plugged. I would suggest you wire it to a cable that will go live when ignition is on.
