1. Stay away from anything under £100!!!!! You will get what you're paying for and I bet you that you will be getting a intercom with a small battery that will last 2hrs if you're lucky the noise will be horrendous at 40mph and you will hardly be able to hear each other. www.dhgate.com or www.gearbest.com will have what you're looking for with reasonable quality, of course more expensive will be trouble free at 70mph with excellent headphones. I have a V8 and have bluetooth, radio and comms between up to 6 riders within 1 mile apart. You can get cheaper than a V8 that at the time cost me £120 but I don't regret it for a second. Downside of the above websites is that it will be coming from china so you will have some travelling time to allow for. dhgate is more expensive than gearbest but far better quality.
2. Have a feeling that I have been conned... The fact that the wife agreed that I could get the bike is nothing more than her making me cleaning the garage Spend all evening friday, this morning and lunch time to now cleaning the damn thing so I can have space. Found things that I didn't even knew I ever had. The worst of it, didn't even scratch the surface.
3. Don't you need to fit the pin that holds the pads in place? It should go in place once the pads have the disk in between.
4. Shame the Buff won't be here on time. would look fab with it
5. This is my preferred route
6. Nice one good luck with everything hope the bike is as good as it looks. Want me to stop by on Fri just to rub it in?
7. Wee update So got the insurance, £121 including gold breakdown cover from One Call. DHL just collected the bike gear except my leather jacket that I'll be wearing and the box will be waiting for me at the Holiday inn in Greenwich. In the to do list, road tax and ride up
8. You would get a better deal with sportbikeshop and if you follow the link that runs on the bottom of the forum you will be helping Stu and the forum
9. You can get a small tracking device. It pleases the insurance company, lowers the premium and new models can be tracked on an app
10. Symptoms of a dead battery. Try to charge it if you have a charger or just plug it to a car with engine running if you have one. If the battery charges fine in the car/charger and then gets drained you will have strong parasite current that should be investigated. For example, if I leave my ST1300 sleeping for more than 1 week the HISS will flat the battery. Maybe you need to consider a trickle charger, follow the sportbikeshop link in the forum to get a price for one, I have the Oxford one and is really good. The problems can be from simple parasite current to a fault in the charging system (alternator regulator etc.) This assuming that the contacts are properly fixed and haven't come loose.
11. Where's the fun in that?. Worst comes to worst I'll be calling roadside assistance.
12. Never though about protecting the pistons with the pad
13. I will Swagman Tyres and the belt too. So I tried BikeSure for the insurance. quoted at £125 full comprehensive after discount while moneysupermarket is showing £80 Considering the option of third party fire and theft for £52...

Clutch Issue??

Sounds like clutch yes. Maybe the cable is too loose? Worst case scenario is you will need a new clutch
15. I prefer to keep it original and after a few years selling it on. got a 250 discount. The thing is, is Scotland it will worth a lot more
16. dynax A small car hire would be around £40 + 80 in petrol and it will take at least 8hrs driving. flights cost under £120 + £20 taxi (guestimate) to hotel + £9 courier for gear and takes 2hrs, total car hire £120 + £40 for at least 1 meal. now count 6hrs (8-2)at £80/hr that I would normally charge total flight under £150 Richzx6r I never heard of TMBF shuttle from Fife to London.
17. Option 1: I don't think BA will be happy for a couple wearing an helmet during the flight... would look like the Stig Option 2: it will cost around £9 via DHL and the hotel will keep it there until I arrive as long I put the reservation number in the package So back to a small bag that can be carried on the back with minimal stuff
18. I'm nominating myself as nob of the day!! Why you ask... Well, I'm planning to fly down to london to get my new bike so I was thinking, maybe I can get all the gear in the cabin bag and then get the bike up. Part of the deal is that the mrs wants to come along so 2 sets of gear. Then my brain suddenly started to work and I wondered, where am I carrying the cabin bags on the way up? It's a VT700 and no space for luggage... NOB!!!!
19. On a small service I do engine oil and filter. Check the air filter, brake pads, transmission shaft oil check that all levels are ok and that's pretty much it. On a larger service, 2 yr interval I extend what I do on small service to check or replace spark plugs if necessary, change brake and clutch fluid, clean brake calipers, wash brake and clutch system with methyl alcohol, replace air filter, fork oil, check rear suspension adjuster oil. Because I use high quality engine oil if I don't do much mileage, like this year, I will skip the service. As example, this year I'll be under 1,000 miles so I won't even look at it. next year I'm planning a trip to Italy so then I'll make a proper check and change the oils and fluids.
20. Conversion??? to what? Had a quick chat with the chap selling it and got a wee reduction
21. Happy birthday Richzx6r
22. Well, well. Just bought a nice VT700. 15,400 miles red 1986. Apparently been well taken care of, the guy said he's selling because he doesn't ride it anymore "I'm over 70..." For months I was looking for something a bit lighter than a 300kg ST1300 to use on shorter trips around Scotland and to go to work. Already downloaded the service manual from my favourite site https://www.manualslib.com/download/1019855/Honda-86-Vt700c-Shadow.html No chain to worry about as it is belt drive, low gravity and around 230kg. The downside is, need to travel to London to pick it up. On the plus side I get to ride for 450 miles although knowing my luck it will be raining... Now. Checked the trains, as the more environmental option, and realised that you will buy the train but you don't get to keep it. £335 1 way trip???? So flying it is, £60 sounds like a better option. Leaving Edinburgh on the 20th stay overnight in London (the joy) then go and see the bike and all being well will get it up. Not sure how long it will take to come back up so planning 2 options. Either do the whole trip on Friday or stay overnight somewhere halfway and arrive home mid Sat. Will be posting pics here once I get to it. Tasks to do: clean garage (urgent) get insurance (on day) Tax it (on day)
23. It depends on if you're using the phone app or the website. After you add the amount you scroll down or go next on the phone app and there you will have the option to either buying goods or send money to friends or family
24. It's like Tai Chi for bikers
25. The best of being over 55, other then extremely wise, is that you can be a dirty old man and people find it cute
