Get a midge hat. According to Scottish Midge Forecast this week will have the perfect weather conditions for the nasty pests.
  3. Get one of those plastic coils that are usually on disk locks so you won't forget it again. Happened to me once with the Africa Twin, run 5in before going to sleep on the ground.
  4. did the feathers become the coating????
  5. I went to the island after Bali, Lombok. Not as touristic and smaller than Bali with lots to see and a few nice beaches. If you prefer even more beautiful island I would suggest Sumbawa the next to the right of Lombok. All of them cheaper than Bali with less tourist restrictions (for now)
  6. Very good morning from Scotland. Arrived from Indonesia the weekend. Crazy place with more wee bikes than tarmac

That isn't a mistake, Call it an adventurous detour
  8. I think is more a matter of the councils stop using road repairs as elections PR and use the money correctly. Maybe they should have someone making sure the surface standard adhere to BS (not bull....) and not the contractors getting paid for proper tarmac and supplying gravel with a bit of asphalt.
  9. I would say more like a nut...
  10. This weekend.. It starts Friday with a flight for my holidays
  11. I'm officially an old fart... got my new teeth on a wire...
  12. I did the IAM practice until I was comfortable with the riding and leant enough to be safe. Not doing the test or keep paying to be a member.
  13. Only in America.... Colorado driver tried to avoid DUI by switching seats with dog, police say - BBC News
  14. FYI, TOTY is no longer a thing in this forum...
  15. That brings so many memories.....
  16. As @Dombo is saying you're pushing too hard for a daily mileage. Personally I would avoid France as much as possible and go via Belgium. Better roads and less maniac drivers. Aim for 50 to 70 miles between stops on such sporty bike. Stop as soon you start feeling uncomfortable on the seat. If you try to go a bit further, you only get tired quicker and will take longer to cover the distance. I will be surprised if you can do more than 500 miles (top) a day. Count with heavy traffic for long periods and remember not only the UK have lots of roadworks. When I did the Scotland - Croatia tour last year on a more touring dedicated bike than a cbr I never did more than 150 miles on a stretch and we're talking about a far more comfy bike. Still took me 3 days to get there. Luggage, take only essentials and cut them in half. Any extra weight is dead weight that will slow you down. Finally, maximize the range and try to fuel when stopping as much as possible. Refueling stop won't count as rest as you will notice. Other than that, I hope you have a blast
  17. Pretty much yep. The skip is for all the rubbish from refurb the house.
  18. Hiring a storage unit to store loads of crap accumulated in the house...
  19. I want to nominate a floc of nobs... Maybe a herd. Whatever you would call them. All Lorry drivers that jumps in front of you on a motorway doing 56.5 mph to overtake another lorry doing 56.4 mph.
  20. I had a similar problem with me shadow when I bought it and found out the engine oil was the wrong spec/quality. Try some seafoam and see if it works better. Cheaper than a new clutch Unless your clutch works on the dry..
  21. Had a similar experience with a Nilfisk with a brushed motor. Worst thing I could have done. Replaced with a K5 brushless motor and is going strong.
  22. All depends on distance you plan to be riding on one trip and if alone of with pillion. I personally would prefer the triumph instead of yamaha as they are more reliable. 900cc is a good size engine for anything around the 400 miles a day and without loads of luggage. If you're plans are to go for long trips 4k plus then I would consider a bigger engine and more storage.
  23. I will be working on the 10 years program of refurbishing the house
