Would DIY wet blasting with a Karcher work? ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sand-Blaster-Wet-Blasting-Washer-Kit-for-Karcher-K2-K7-High-Pressure-Water-Gun/193623787487?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item2d14e087df:g:vOIAAOSwM6VfNjnt&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACYBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%252Fn%252BzU5L90Z278x5ickkfKe2vUidqHRg3XM2X2xOVGvQIfSNb9TfUwn%252B8Esty1cCPz04mJRtn89dkqVE%252Fi7vmppKHlpxAsr9%252B5%252FIxvdX6gX4H%252BU4FDC7DgY%252FgjtjccLXoppnKdNmDx825aimOrPk8IL3jGoveBMKAlkx2hlm8ZE2rRaZBrybxqbXyG3tjuYOVEtBR2Jbv%252FaqS1IZZHM6xNMfLR3ZD50VuUhfFG0wvx8RfBQ2MSBG4gMwDzuZ8xWK4XlQNWUloyZLyPWedBYVPFG%252FyHFjCQ%252B6x1DdSK0LjgqNntXoVwZGaW1nVmnA4ZLq%252Bdnb50VWM8ZYYlevwyi176lo%252BZfD0Sr4kXRLtcswSqPXd4CvA3ADGohHpCoS2FFuUVs%252FP122weLna7Z%252BloUQOFSx58sNJxWxT9EEut3EoKa3ln%252BbeWo5rWQK5%252FCbOpH25BhoeBWoCY8DFSz7CvdBljBs04k2j5xKQ02tmETGaFIBAqNFNUbYMzvmKIxsoF5hDiuyM45fzQBW%252FKJUdG6M8%252BL2C87Owa%252FHzNBeLigX%252FC%252BHASyyBsz21%252Ba5CYJJZnRmHdqYvk7q3O%252B4KPiOaG%252B3z%252FJ%252BpVlcIrtv4POvOuvOqrl62ZfTEt%252B%252Br3eJYGTZwIy9WRqJwu6FEz6dwbQXvUE6lHVy4n0JfBBSA9zEAoHnf1aNQwiWHheTGI0kgLflNn%252Bd8R2EXFpY%252B2%252F%252Fr5r4F2GP5YY%252BUOg06s%252B1ZEXPbNqL40yWVc4tjB2Z%252FPGVpDxw%252FkE9LrFQa%252F%252F%252FRHTCNpvUe5wz%7Ccksum%3A1936237874879a0e1a8d71f64508a8a5a413b07187fa%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2334524 -
First Jacket and armour
KiwiBob replied to NE150N80's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
For jacket and trousers why not look at second hand? .. I got some good quality hardly used gear very cheaply. New they would have cost me over £250 but got them for £40. -
I've posted a video of the engine "rattle" on the ER5UK facebook page(I can't get it to load on here) .. I'd value your opinion on what may be the cause. As I said on the ER5 FB group , the best thing to do is pop the valve cover off and have a good look . The hassle with the ER is that you have to drain and remove part of the cooling system first and sometimes it takes a lot of persuasion to pull the pipes out of the head . You obviously have to remove the tank but the remote fuel tap can also be tricky . On your early model the frame is narrower than mine so removing the valve cover is fiddly too but at least you shouldn't have the clean air system to remove . ( Possibly ) Don't let all this put you off . I'm happy to help if you get stuck . Cheers Bob, I'm in no rush .. I've not passed my test yet!

I'll take all the recommendations I can get! .. I know absolutely nothing about ER5's. Just ask . I rebuilt one a couple of years ago and I'm rebuilding another one at the moment . I've posted a video of the engine "rattle" on the ER5UK facebook page(I can't get it to load on here) .. I'd value your opinion on what may be the cause.

Its your fault that I bought it! .. After seeing you tackle that I thought I would be brave and give it a try. This just happened to be the nearest one to me that was for sale.
-
Could I recommend a manual Cam Chain Tensioner . I'll take all the recommendations I can get! .. I know absolutely nothing about ER5's.

Labour charges were £50/hour.
-
The guy I bought it from spent £350 in August for a service, (replace fuel tap, carbs stripped and cleaned, float needles, fuel pipe, air filter, oil filter and spark plugs) .. My only concern is that on the invoice it states "Engine has loud noise coming from the top end, possibly valve clearances". .. We'll have to see.
-
Well, I've just spent £400 buying this! .. just under 9,000 miles and mot till July next year. Runs fine but the engine has a bit of a rattle and fork seals will need doing. Should give me something to do over the winter.

I use this .. https://www.sanza.co.uk/Grans_Remedy.asp

I'm very tempted! .. Just a bit far for me.

Which l plates are best to buy and where about to put on front
KiwiBob replied to dragon567's topic in Motorbike Chat
Why make a bracket when you could have simply stuck one on the screen? -
Ebay has this .. https://www.bing.com/aclk?ld=e8OzOjsYAzRiOYBqf3XsL6uzVUCUz7xfy2w5y05kr6xCCe5EWVUt3Q02lY2A_u1DrlBuQTHVtO4PTo6D_0mK9JEC3AcZPXQ3tgibO_-RGjf2NR41B9t1PFl0PPYU266aMMMOjCkUyDV2V-h0vs1l8W3V9L1lxJNjDPhX6-O-tWKykdC75_&u=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&rlid=dd0c1d6aa94f1d94603f422396cd5728 Maybe you could knock up something similar a bit cheaper?

They've got you by the balls! .. According to the government website ... "Motorcycle and moped tests and coronavirus (COVID-19) If you do not already have a test appointment, your instructor must book your test for you - even if you’re a critical worker. https://www.gov.uk/motorcycle-test
-
My old boss told me his test was once around the block, examiner said as he'd made it back that was fine, test complete I think you had to go around the block twice .. Once clockwise then anticlockwise. On one of them the examiner jumped out in front of you to test your emergency stop! Donkeys years ago I had the chance of taking my test on a motorcycle combination with my boss as the examiner(it was a guaranteed pass) .. Like a fool I never did it!
-
Other way around .. Deauville was based on the NTV650.

If you passed your motorcycle test when you were younger then it should be on your licence. If you have not passed a motorcycle test you will have to ride with L plates. Do your CBT then take a Direct Access Course/test then you can ride anything https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/direct-access-scheme-das-motorcycle-training-guidance P.S. ... You will also have to take a motorcycle theory test if you want to get a full licence.

Sounds cheap but in 1976 my pay before tax/NI etc was less than £70 for a 48 hr week! You had a good job over twice my wage Actual pay was £64 per week .. That was for a 48 hour week including working nights and weekends. In 1976 an average pint of beer cost 32p per pint. The average wage then £72 per week for 40 hours.

Christ what year was this? 1935? You wouldn't used find bikes on a 1976/77 plate on an ad from 1935. but anyway. £899 for a brand new Triumph. T140 Triumph Bonneville T140.jpg Sounds cheap but in 1976 my pay before tax/NI etc was less than £70 for a 48 hr week!

This will show you how to change chain and sprockets ...

Nothing wrong with the Chinese styling .. They just need to use top quality materials and stop making them with monkey metal!
-
Blimey, I’d never have thought of sticking it in the back of the car. Makes my back ache just thinking of it. We almost passed out from the effort in the heat . Thank goodness the lady selling the bike was on hand to provide pints of Orange Squash with ice in it . Just how big is that car? Well done for squeezing it in.
