  1. I think abongdon/did of/want age have some good roads, always take the back roads from reading to Oxford to see the misses, some good view too! Was more after just some people to ride with, not really bothered where. Not here for much longer though
  2. I used to use an Oxford soft bag and it was awsome, strapped to the bike very well, duct tapes the bungees so they don't scratch and I left my bike with it wandering around town (empty) then put shopping in when done. I used to clip helmet on the under seat clip so i would just be carrying gloves and wearing the rest. Since I bought my bike it came with soft panniers and a soft top bag and a tank bag. I love the tankbag whe just grabbing somthing like some milk or a cinease etc.. But the panniers and top luggage are awsome for visit homes (3 hrs+ away) or when the gf wats me to bring the ps3 to hers (don't ask..). Needless to say I love the. All, and each has it's own use. If you are looking to try-out a soft luggage top, I can sell you my old one for very little.
  3. 361 please stu? Cheers
  4. After spending most of the day riding thought if it's the same weather tomorrow, anyone around this area fancy a meet? I am still getting to grips with my bike so just a decent ride, also not living here as of 2 weeks time so might be able to meet some people this end before the rally. (Still working on getting dates off work) Drop us a pm if you fancy it! I am willing to ride elsewhere too, swindon etc...
  5. There is no 'pass' or 'fail'. You just have to complete the training, this make take the day as most people do it or two days. You learn how to ride a bike as if you have never seen a bike before, as far as I am aware most places provide jacket, helmet and gloves but check this before you go! It's a good day and once you do it you will be hooked! As bogoff said - get it booked!
  6. At the moment I am still in newbury! Not in camps until April 11th I think...never even been there before either! Pretty excited!
  7. Weekday evenings should be fine after April!
  8. If its on the weekend after april 14th I could. If before, weather permitting, weekend I can do. Wont be able to request single days off untill I start my new posting unfortinatly.
  9. Glad your day got better for you
  10. Awsome! Just bought a bike, back in the game buzzing!
  11. I used to wear Kevlar jacket and trousers, make was Richa. Really good and around £230 for the set I think. Still got them and will wear them on my new bike. Seen as I am no longer commuting I will probably use Kevlar jeans/jacket combo but for commuting was grateful for warm, dry kit. Was easy to change when I got to work, slip it off, hang it up, work slip it back on. I didn't think it looked to baggy. I think anything with armour in it makes you look a bit....different.... but hey, you have a bike....so you are cool anyway, just safe!
  12. The idiot driving the hgv down a country lane (just enough room for 2 cars) who decided not to slow down and bully me into the side which was all floods and onto the embankment where there was no traction.....cheers for making my white car now muddy....
  13. Awsome, had a year and a half off but getting a bike next few weeks. I am quite looking forward to the move! Seems like there are a few from here! Also, will be going to the rally, so knowing a few faces/names is good
  14. And it's in wyton! Will be moving this end in about a month or so! Will defo have a bike by then and will know no one! Anyone fancy showing me the roads when I get there, I would be grateful. Just thought I would let you know of the location change!
  15. I am always to much of a wimp to just hop my leg over. I look quite young for 25 and if they do approach me most ask my age and if i have a license. This might be the normal thing to do but i always get asked but only ever held a full license. Also, I did notice when I am quite smartly dressed i get spoken to or if I am with a girl.....maybe they think your just going to throw your cash at them to show off
  16. Went into the megastore, in swindon today. Correct me if I am wrong but this used to be gorge whites I think. Anyway, they had loads of stock, but no one ever asked me if I wanted help, and when I asked about a gsxr I got a one word answer of a shrug! This would be the only time I would try something on and buy elsewhere! Even with bikes, I noticed today looking at gsxr the man was quite helpful, Kawasaki completely ignored me, as did yamaha, Honda told me to wait until march...(.all I was asking was what do they have to offer at the moment). But the kind gent in triumph just ended up chatting to me for about an hour about anything and everything. Even though if I do end up buying a bike from him it may well be 1-2 or maybe 300 quid more, he was the one who managed to grab my attention and there was no pressure etc... Sorry if this went off topic, but I am all for saving money, but I appreciate the art of a salesman and someone spending time and sharing knowledge... Just found every showroom so different today, was surprised.
  17. When I did my cat C + E I hit some road works at a roundabout. A car let me through but I had to wait and co firm with the examiner. He then put me down as a minor for hesitancy as I talked through him. There was no point arguing but I was under the same impression that if they flash you still had to wait! We got told constantly it's all to do with how the examiner sees the situation, not you. I guess in this case I did the wrong thing by him by asking/explaining!
  18. All down hill from now, look forward to congratulating you on the 4th of March
  19. Damn, just saw this and offer has gone!
  20. I get awful nerves on tests like this. I too took a fair few attempts at mod1. What my instructor did was book test 3 and test 4 for a few days later. That way I was not under pressure to pass. He also took me out for a ride before hand and went for food and then told me my test was earlier than he said and we had to race back, there was no waiting in that god forsaken room. Probably all psychological but worked very very well. I passed mod 2 first time just because you can relax a bit more and got time for nerves to calm down!
  21. when you go to space you get a little bit of velcro in your helmet so you can scratch your nose. Maybe invent somthing like this?! drgons den eat your heart out
  22. ...and this is why I love reading posts in this forum. Genuine people helping others. Good work on the bike, looking forward to the next installments!
