  1. Today I put the new shock on the Explorer and regreased the suspension linkage. Bit fiddly, took too long, but a big improvement over the old one.
  2. Excellent ideas all. My local garage had a 30 tonne bearing press. Took a good three quarters of an hour to get the b'stard out.
  3. Which club was the chicken a member of?
  4. I've had he same thing happen. It really does pay to slow down and anticipate idiots pulling out on you. Glad you're OK.
  5. Replacing the shock that I bust last weekend. While I'm at it... How the donkety flip do I get the sleeve out of the linkage? Failing with the big hammer. Either I'm missing something or I'm just weak. Left it soaking in oil while I go eat chips. That'll fix it.
  6. Hoggs - 04 JRH - 9 Fiddlesticks - 42
  7. Recently stopped for a rider on a new BMW who was SMIDSY'd by someone pulling out of a side road. One of the first things he said was "Kicking myself, I didn't take out gap insurance".
  8. There's no pleasing some people
  9. Anyway, to cheer you all up, here's a picture of a real motorcycle babe. Now that's not going to divide folks, is it
  10. Possibly all being a bit unkind here.. Benefit of the doubt and all that.
  11. That'll be an excellent gig.

  13. Can confirm. My default rightmove search is on Keyword - "Double Garage".
  14. Hope they don't mither you too much.
  15. Had a slightly different issue, in that the GB sticker was attached to the right pannier.. Which spent the entire holiday in our rather lovely Airbnb. We managed to avoid the long arm of La loi.
  16. Common occurrence round these parts.
  17. Well, this dastardly plan worked, right until the return trip when the shock absorber decided to make an oily mess all over the road. Limped home. A bit like riding a kangaroo across a bouncy castle. Not to be recommended.
  18. Quick drink after work to wish my mate well (he's leaving). Got Mrs. Fiddlesticks to drive up and meet me with her bike gear. Abandoned the car in the pub car park, rode over the Woodhead pass and into darkest Lincolnshire to see Tony Wright (of Terrorvision fame). Will make our way back tomorrow, then Manchester on Sunday to catch up with our eldest lad.
  19. So the OEM heated grips died on the Tiger Explorer after a whisker under 12 months and 10,000 miles of mostly not being switched on. The seller sent a warranty request to Triumph who don't want to know. Partly because they didn't fit them; partly because they're end of line. First world problems. So I could go with Oxford hotgrips as a replacement, but wondered if there was anything out there that could re-use the 2 setting illuminated existing switch. Any ideas?
  20. Hi, we do like a good project thread..
  21. My problem is footwear. I'm exactly half a size between 11 and 12 and can never seem to get boots to fit. Added to this is the fact that longer feet doesn't necessarily mean wider feet - so you get massively wide 12s and 11s that are perfect in every way but the length. The trick I've found is to go in to Sportsbike having pre-ordered one of everything that might possibly fit the bill in both sizes. Spend a couple of hours working through the pile until I find one to fit. Inevitably it's the most expensive pair in the whole selection, but by that point I'm usually past caring.
  22. Nice.. Put five coders in a room and you'll get six different opinions. Here's my 2¢ - add a line for the 16 y/o who wants to ride a 50cc.
  23. Good evening. Was getting chilly on the way to work so I stuck my heated grip on. Off to find the receipt to see if the left hand side one is still under warranty.
