  1. Or buy a complete front end, with a possible swap of steering stem? Try to get on Oldskoolsuzuki or Oldskoolperformance forums or Facebook groups.
  2. Almost certainly needs dynamic balancing.
  3. Yep, used copper spray on copper race gaskets. Also used spray paint on stock gaskets and torqued em up while still sticky.
  4. If you absolutely cannot find another head gasket, there is a slim chance that you can reuse the old one or make a new one from annealed copper.
  5. And if you take the head off, you can check the valve sealing faces, valve seat conditions and valve runout. All off which affect cylinder pressure. You can also get the valves refaced, seats recut and valve guides replaced.
  6. You'll be extremely lucky if collets jump out, more likely jam half out. If you must do it with head on, make a lever that you can use with a bolt on the head, to compress the valve springs. Cut a slot on two sides of the socket, so that you can remove collets with a magnet or tweasers. You can also use it to rebuild.
  7. Never had a problem cleaning brakes with brake cleaner!!!
  8. Check the seal on the valves by pouring liquid into the ports.
  9. Any C spanner with the correct dimensions should work. I have used mole grips before.

    Norway

Whatever the route and the time taken, Norway is worth it.
  11. Make sure that the seal grooves and brake cylinder are clinically clean. Remove all dirt and polish aluminium..
  12. You can use most grease to pump em out, brake clean everything, then smear rrg on pistons and seals when you rebuild.
  13. Fluid will drain as soon as first piston falls out, hence moving em all together. I use a big rawlbolt for tight ones.
  14. Needs a working brake system.
  15. Pump them all out together. If one moves more than the others, put a clamp on it. If one gets left behind, clamp the others until it moves. They usually come out with a grease gun or airline.

    new battery prep

I've used Yuasa batteries for 40 years. Worth paying the extra.
  17. Ask anything. Here to help.
  18. Great thread this. Nice one.
  19. Thanks for the translation Tim.
  20. Take plugs out, spray wd40 with a tube onto cylinder liners, stroke engine one rev with a spanner, not starter motor, spray more wd40, leave for 24 hours. Repeat 3 times, then see if it will start. Allow to get warm, cool down, then recheck compression.
  21. Can I have it please? I'm in hastings.
  22. Where are you?
  23. Pix would help.
