When your fingers stop hurting after about an hour, that is the onset of frostbite ! What the others have said, kit is king. Heated stuff is the new silver bullet. I ride all year with work, but the truth is, no one is handing out medals for your suffering & extra risk, there is no shame in wintering your bike & getting a cheap hack car. If that's not an option, the right kit is king & be super smooth, yes it makes you a better rider but feck its hard work.

TMBF legends, thanks for your replies, I'm not being made redundant, 3 others didn't make it, I really hope things pan out for them. So my endurance fix won't be commuting it'll be mile munching next year to Colditz Castle.

TMBF legends, I might be made redundant, I'm looking at another job but its 150 mile round trip commute. Is it too much, but the job does include consecutive overnights away, sometimes. Just getting a overview on what's normal.
