1. My second ever off was from grabbing a handful of front brake on a greasy road.....and, much like you, I bailed and pretty much watched my bike hit the back of the car in front from the footpath.....it's easy done, so don't beat yourself up over it.....
2. I understand your new and trying to ingratiate yourself but perhaps do a bit of background research before you make your statements. 50cc will not do more than 33mph without modifications. 125cc Most will hold their own between 55mph &70mph Travelling a long distance is possible on a 125 comfortably and i mean hundreds of miles so a 40 mile journey may take less than an hour Regardless of what cc the bike staying at a constant 55mph (for arguments sake) My gtr1400 will take basically the same time as a 125cc over the same distance. You do your research, those type of bikes have higher horsepower than allowed to ride on a CBT Erm, no @newbiker90 ......have a read of this article about CBT legal 125's.....All can top 70mph and the Reiju can hit a genuine 80mph.......https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/bikes/group-tests/teenage-dreams---sports-125-shootout
3. Yea but that is a triumph explorer.............'EXPLORER', not a 125 Yes, it's a Triumph Explorer 1200cc.......but my point was more about the mileage he's clocked up in 2.5 years.....I'm not sure you'll see too many 125's with 70k miles on them.......not saying that the OP will be clocking that sort of mileage up.....but it's another thing to take into consideration.
4. The guy in his pretend Porsche Boxer (Peugeot ) 55mph in the righthand lane of the M6 near Walsall......yes, the smart motorway signs were set to 60mph, but that doesn't mean that you can just sit there blocking everyone else......got the right hump when I went past him in lane 2.....only after sitting behind him for a couple of miles and it was obvious he wasn't gonna move over.....
5. I have bar end mirrors on my Speedy......and I really like them......really good view, with no elbows in the way.....
6. These new ceramic disks are sh*t.........
7. Those bars look like Clip on types.......may not be so easy to find replacements that are narrower.....
8. I'd just give the full A DAS another try or 2, mate......you don't have to get a bigger bike once you've passed, but it gives you more options......just MHO.....
9. On a 125? I would rather walk mate. With this weather, being limited to 30mph and doing many miles on roads that will have speed limit great, not having proper wind protection or a bike designed for all weathers, no abs, no traction control nah thanks mate. Honestly sounds unsafe to me. Some 125's can hit 70-80mph......
10. I've got Night-breakers on my bike and they're pretty bright.......
11. I have a friend that commutes from Royston to somewhere near Victoria on his Triumph Explorer every day......he's up to around 70k miles now, on a 2.5 year old bike...... So, it's doable.....
12. Nice one, mate.....enjoy it......
13. Bad luck elizabethf .....but sounds like you baled out in the best way.......I've stepped off the bike a couple of times in the past...... Stick with it, mate......you don't strike me as a quitter.....so, that pass will be super sweet when it happens.....
14. I took my second new bike back to the dealers the day after I picked it up because something was loose. They said no probs, pop it round the back to the workshop and they'd sort it. The shop was on a busy high street and this was Saturday lunchtime. The little access road to the workshop was about 100m up the road. So I got on the bike and waited for a gap in the traffic and gunned it for a gap that I saw. My new RD350 picked up a bit quicker than my CD175 that I'd just parted with. So I shot across the road on the back wheel, straight towards a queue of people at a bus stop, who parted like the Red sea. I shut the throttle quickly and thumped the front wheel down and managed to swerve and keep the bike on the road. And wobbled up the road and round the access road to the workshop. To be greeted with "Alright Barry Sheene, what's up with the bike then?" I wished that the ground would just open up!
15. Sounds like a charging problem......deffo need to get the dealer to sort it out. As for the damage, unless you've got helmet cam footage showing that the drop was caused by the bike cutting out on you I think it would be very difficult to prove......and they'll never admit liability for it unless there was hard evidence.
16. Solvol Autosol will sort those out......so long as the chrome plating is not too pitted.
17. Yeah, sorry mate, but the pics are not working.
18. I got a 50cc bike on my 16th birthday.....It was great.....I've never looked back. Most 50cc bikes are step through scooters, but there are a few more traditional looking ones around. What to buy depends largely on your budget and what's around.....try to keep an open mind and look at as many places where they're for sale as possible.....
19. This has wandered so far off topic that I think that there's no recovering it.......so I think I'll lock it down......and send Six to sit on the naughty step.
20. A few years from now and we'll all be riding electric bikes anyway......
21. My Bell lids are the most comfortable lids I've ever owned, but they're older models......I tried some of the newer ones on at the bike show last year, but I couldn't find one that fitted as well as my lids........shame, as I like Bell lids.....
22. https://www.mslmagazine.co.uk/motorcycles-must-display-critair-stickers-to-ride-in-france/ Anyway, this is about improving the air quality in major cities, where the UK has failed to meet agreed clean air targets. It's not about saving the planet, so much as trying to make the air in London less toxic for the millions of people that work or live there. The charge is a deterrent. In Paris, motorcycles registered before 2000 are BANNED from entering the clean air zones between 8am-8pm.....and newer vehicles still have to pay.
23. Try bleeding it first......but it may be that the mastercylinder is not up to shifting the volume of brake fluid that the GSXR calipers need.....
24. Nice writeup mate......but I'm gonna move it to the bike reviews section......
25. Sounds like the battery has run down......probably just needs a charge.....dealer may have had the bike sitting there for a while and not thought to charge the battery before delivering it......
