  1. Posted in General Rideouts......but I thought I'd put it up in a couple of the rideout sections too..... Sunday 7th July, Rutland Water South Shore, Edith Weston, Crazy Fox cafe.......Probably leave Hartford Marina around 11:30ish for a bimble over to Rutland....aiming to get there around 12:30-1...... Post if you're interested and if you'll be riding from the Marina or meeting us over there......
  2. Sorry.....details were a bit vague.......I think we'll head over to Rutland from here to arrive there between 12:30-13:00......but we're pretty flexible about this and can change to accomodate what others would prefer......and as we'll probably stay there for a couple of hours arrival times are nominal..... Main point is a nice ride over.....a cuppa and maybe some chips when we get there....and a jolly chat with whoever turns up..... Open to everyone Derek......so, the more the merrier......

  4. Deffo mate.......planning a run to Rutland this coming Sunday......are you up for it mate?......
  5. Starting out I think I'd go the Textiles route first as they will offer more flexibility in protecting you from our variable weather over here...... Armour can generally be upgraded......so I'd look for good weather protection and also look at Jackets and Trousers made from Cordura.....as this has better abrasion resistance than other materials.....and upgrade the armour if required...... If funds are tight check out 2nd hand gear on eBay.....you can pick some decent kit up for a fraction of the new price if you look around...... But steer well clear of 2nd hand lids though.....
  6. SShhhh......looks like it may be sunny this coming Sunday (7th July).......so is anyone up for a meet at Rutland water, Edith Weston, South Shore, Crazy Fox Cafe, LE15 8HD?......
  7. Sorry Darren....was in London today....bit of a long day.....and saw rain heading this way so decided I didn't want the bike to get dirty AGAIN.....
  8. You are sure that there's not a fuse somewhere that could have gone?........Kill switch working OK?......Have you measured the voltage at the battery? BTW.....welcome to the Forum.......maybe check in at the Newbies section and introduce yourself to the rest of the gang.....

    Front fork leak

If it is coolant it could be coming from the expansion tank overflow pipe.......mine does that regularly if the bike has got hot sitting in traffic......
  10. Hi Magz.......Full Face is the.....well.....basically a full face helmet......whereas the System helmets are the flip front type helmet where the chin guard is hinged and can be moved upwards to save taking the helmet off if you're wanting to talk to someone when stationary......not the best explanation......but the best I could come up with at the moment....... The most important thing with crash helmets is the fit.....you need to find a lid that fits comfortably but snug.....so it's less likely to come off in an accident. I prefer Double-D ring type straps....but it's just personal preference.... So.....I'd say get to a decent bike shop and try as many lids on as you can to find one that's comfy....but will also do the job it's intended for....... I like the Bell lid I currently use......it's light, good ventilation, good vision, thick visor that very rarely steams up and fits me perfectly.....I can wear it for hours with no problems.....

    Front fork leak

Oddly enough so does oil antifreeze usually tastes sweet btw Personally I prefer petrol, half a glass with my t every night. You've got expensive tastes Matt......beer or wine are cheaper!......

    Front fork leak

You'd see oil down the fork leg if you had a leaky fork seal.......so, if you can't see any oil running down the fork leg then it's more likely to be coolant......either from the overflow pipe....or possibly from the radiator as others have said......

    help plz

I'd pull the plu and check the colour of it first mate......if it's white then maybe it does need a bigger main jet......but it could also just need a service.....air filter, new plug, etc.......
  14. We've got these self inflating roll mats........http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vango-Self-Infl ... +inflating .......which roll up fairly small and are reasonably comfortable for a few nights camping..... We also have Snugpac sleeping bags that are rated for fairly cold nights.....and again pack up pretty small......http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yeomans-Snugpak ... eeping+bag
  15. Hi JD......and welcome to the Forum....... Pop over to the Newbies section and introduce yourself to the rest of the gang on here...... OK......is the choke on?......these are pretty simple bikes....so troubleshooting it should be simple enough..... The 2 front indicators coming on at the same time is either a wiring problem or an earthing problem......so check the earth connections around the bike.....particularly where the battery negative terminal goes to the chassis...... The non-starting will either be no fuel getting into the combustion chamber, no or weak spark or lack of compression..... but firstly check the position of the choke.......
  16. Sounds good to me too......
  17. With 2 of you.....plus your bike gear etc I'd recommend a 3 person tent....and something with a porch area for leaving wet gear if necessary...... We have a Vango Beta 350.....which fits on the bike OK......well, fits on Mandy's bike OK...... http://www.vango.co.uk/adventure/beta-350xl.html Only 6.75kG.......which isn't too bad for a tent of this size.....and folded down it's fairly compact......could strap across the cissy bar?.....
  18. Yeah....I think it was a top venue......light years ahead of the Miner's IMHO!!..... So.....washing and showering facilities could be a bit better......but it's no biggie......and I think the bar closing at 12:30 was a VERY GOOD idea...... Mind you, I then had my arm twisted up my back round at Sue and Rennie's camper..... I think the owner and the staff at Lumb Farm were great.....very friendly and accomodating.....nice big camping field......the room was a perfect size for all us......and plenty of nice seating outside the room for those who wished to recover from the Karaoke...... We'll be booking to go again as soon as the dates are announced.......can't wait!!......
  19. This any good TC?.......
  20. Should I start packing yet?.......
  21. Been practicing for the rally tonight...........did a BBQ in the p*ssing rain.....and drinking beer........
  22. What time are you planning on getting there then Ian? If we're there when you arrive we'll give you a hand to unload/setup......

    Triumph Daytona

May be worth posting a question on the Triumph RAT forum.......the guys there know these bikes inside out......

    Triumph Daytona

So.....are you sure it's not just the Side stand switch that's had it? Although it should start if it's in neutral......and most Triumphs need the clutch pulled in as well.....but I guess if it's turning over these are probably OK...... Is the MIL (malfunction indicator light) on? There's a free program called TuneECU that you can run on a laptop and connect to the bike with a VAG cable to interrogate all the sensors and to read any error codes......but this isn't going to be much help to him if he needs it fixing before Monday. When it died were any lights on or did everything just go off?
  25. I sense that you're just a bit excited about the rally Terry.....
