  1. Nice one Terry.......we're really looking forward to it too....... I had my "dry" (LOL) run the other week.....so just need to load it up the same way........
  2. Nice job....all you need now is a run to test 'em out.......
  3. Nice one GOG........Moo's a good pillion....so no probs there...... I know what you mean Moo......Speedie isn't really designed as a 2-up tourer......and my *rse ends up cracking nuts after a couple of hours on that seat......and I have the bit with the Gel pad in too..... Glad it's all sorted now......
  4. Nice one mate......congrats......
  5. Result Joe......looks like you struck lucky with those fork legs mate.......
  6. I can't comment on the type of tyres you are looking for as I have no experience of them.....but this may be of some help......bit of an old article....but some of the tyres may still be current production....... http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Produ ... ure-tyres/
  7. I would have offered to take you up on the back of the Speedie Moo......but unfortunately the pillion seat (what there is of it!) will be taken up with clothes, sleeping gear, tent & fancy dress.......if there were another way of getting that gear up to the rally you'd be more than welcome to come up on the pillion......
  8. Could be the coil breaking down when it gets hot.......
  9. Tango

    wiring

Yeah....I'd need to see a wiring diagram before I take a stab at that one........
  10. We're off on the Friday.....so an early departure could well be on the cards.....depends on what Neil is doing......
  11. That's a shame John.....could have arranged a meeting place and gone round as the TMBF mob.....
  12. Can't sneak a couple of miles in Ollie?.......
  13. Yep....a pee in the bushes costs nowt...... http://www.thebrowncorporation.com/ I've seen it all now.....
  14. Yep....a pee in the bushes costs nowt......
  15. Nice one mate......congrats on that......nice feeling that isn't it.......
  16. Who's up for the Marina this Tuesday then?.....we plan on being there...... Maybe pop up to Papworth too.....depending on time and if anyone else is interested......
  17. Weather looking not too bad for tomorrow night Darren....so we'll see you down the Marina and sort out Weds night.......
  18. I have looked everywhere and spoken to loads of dealers and the same old answer drill some holes. I will get the local Yamaha dealer to do it for me but still. Holes in my farings If they're done right they don't even notice coz the mushroom head on the crash bungs covers the holes anyway.....but I know where you're coming from.....I had this dilemma....and that was on an 8 year old bike...... Pic below is the S4...and you can see how the head of the crash bung kinda masks the hole on the fairing......
  19. There are guys who advertise on eBay for rebuilding forks.....but I've heard some pretty bad stories about people sending decent forks off and getting some real grot ones back...... I just use a large screwdriver to prise the old forks out.....with a bit of wood or hard plastic to protect the top of the fork leg.....and some heat if they don't shift easily..... And I use the old seals to drift the new ones into place.....gently tapping round the edge to ease the new ones in square...... The only other thing you may need is some kind of accurate measuring cylinder or syringe for refilling the oil......
  20. Pattern seals are fairly cr*p.....so use genuine ones.......as EAB says..... May be worth checking the fork bushes and maybe replacing them while you're about it Joe........I've replaced seals in conventional forks but not USD ones.....but I think the priciple is very similar.....just not sure about the compression and rebound adjusters on them.....so a Haynes manual may be a good idea here mate...... Getting the old seals out can be a bit of a challenge......there are special tools for removing them....but I'm not sure how much they are.......and a hot air gun to heat the legs to help getting the seals out may be a good idea too.......
  21. Hmmm....that's a tough one mate.....balancing deliberately drilling holes in a fairing....or risking getting it scratched if the bike goes over...... I had to drill holes in the side fairings on a Speed 4 I had a couple of years back.......it actually went quite well......but I was sweating on getting the holes in the right place...... Are there none available that don't require drilling the fairing?
  22. Maybe the Bridgestones don't suit the ER. But if this is the case, I'm surprised they are OE. They are not cheap tires are they? Back in the day, I didn't replace a tire until it looked like a slick. On saying that, there are many things I used to do on a bike which I don't particularly want to repeat now I am 'old and wise'! No....Bridgestones aren't cheap tyres......but if the bike is a few years old the OE Bridgestones it had may not be a current tyre......and the newer ones perform differently on that bike......
  23. Not sure if we've got anything on the 7th July.....but we could ride up to Rutland to meet up if not...... Maybe see if any others around would be interested on a meet at Rutland then.....although it is the weekend after the TMBF rally......so people may be "biked out" by then......
