  1. Them parts just keep rolling in Alan....... Are you still on track?....not long now......
  2. Yeah....should fit just like this one......
  3. Bigger companies shift more of these items so can secure bigger discounts from the suppliers.....so that probably accounts for the differences in price...... I think that once word gets out about fake stuff the companies then take extra precautions to distance themselves from the problem....so, again, bigger companies should be OK......
  4. Or buy a bike with a decent sized tank....... One of the guys I at work is off on a European tour in the summer.......and one of his mates has bought a VFR800 as his VTR has an appaling range.....

    LEADED or UNLEADED?

I thought that all bikes from the mid 70's onwards all ran on Unleaded? All my bikes certainly have.....from my first one, CD175 Honda I bought in 1975 right through.......and as I say I ran the R100 on unleaded and never heard any pinking from the engine.......
  6. Hey Al.....I've got the Whitsun week off....and Mandy is off to the States with her lad....so I was thinking of a tour to collect some Tags further afield.......

    LEADED or UNLEADED?

I'm pretty sure I ran this on Unleaded.....1979/1980 R100/7.....Had it back in the mid '80's and I'm fairly sure it was unmodded.....
  8. Hey Allan.....no probs at all.......I'm generally not a fan of 2nd hand lids....but I can vouch for the condition of this one as I bought it new and it's been well looked after......it was just a bit small for me and caused headaches after an hour or 2 riding......so I'm glad to see it go to a good home. Anyway....back to your project.......looking good mate...... I guess there was a bit of oil or something on the tank that caused that reaction......but you've got it sorted now....so that's the main thing.... £50 for a lock set ain't too bad.....and at least you'll get the bike working as it should with that..... Keep up the good work mate.....
  9. We'll hope to make it on the 2nd April......depends how saddle sore we are from the Southend Shakedown the previous day......
  10. Man....that's not funny is it!! Get yourself geared up for the test and take some unpaid time out for it to have that happen.......not suprised you're unhappy..... Suprised that the school didn't know beforehand about it......didn't they check before setting off.....if there was a hint that this could be happening they should've checked last night or this morning to make sure.......but, hey ho.....too late now.....
  11. Give the bike a couple of fillups with resetting the trip each time....just to make sure you've got all the facts before going back to the shop.......it's amazing how these little trips on the bike can mount up into a fair few miles.....
  12. Trouble is that with all the sensors on modern bikes for the emission control, changing the exhaust without the ECU being remapped can really screw the performance up....the sensors for oxygen in the exhaust gases can overcompensate if a non-standard can is on there.........although 85 miles on 3 & a bit gallons is a bit extreme......but the exhaust could be part of the problem. You could try pulling the plugs out and checking their colour to see if the bike is running too rich......although this may screw your warranty. Anyhoo.....there are several peeps on here that run R6's....so they may be able to offer a better insight into a reasonable range for that bike.....
  13. I don't know what sort of range other R6 riders are getting.....but I would expect somewhere in the 120-150 miles range between fillups.....that's the sort of range I got on my Speed 4 with a mixture of riding..... I'm guessing that the ECU should be mapped for the replacement exhaust unless the manufacturer of it certifies that it doesn't need it. Also does the bike have a service history?......when was it last serviced....and by whom?......was the plugs, air filter etc done? Just my tuppence worth really mate.......

    Bike won't start

Yeah....hot wire it.....or take it down your local Chav centre and leave it for them to do it for you.....
  15. That's why you have mobile phone insurance Stu...... Anywayup......a decent WATERPROOF phone mount should be OK....and they're not too expensive......
  16. Yeah....I think that's the place Alan.....it's a Hungry Horse pub...... Thanks for the info on the Link.....we'll see if this one works: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Go ... ,7&t=m&z=9
  17. Alan......we'll probably head in the back way from Chelmsford to Rayleigh so that we can hook-up with Mandy's brother.....so I don't know if you want to meet us there (Hungry Horse near Rayleigh station)?......not spoken with Peter yet, but we normally meet up with him around 12:00....maybe slightly earlier.....then head into Southend the back way to avoid all the traffic. So let me know if this is OK Alan and we'll arrange a rendezvous......and I'll give directions if you need them...... When we head down from here we'll avoid the motorways........I've done a Google Map for the route for those who are interested....... https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/myplaces ... F8&t=m&z=6 We may head back a slightly different route depending on time etc. Obviously this is all depending on the Great British Weather.......
  18. I use Copilot live V8 on my S3.......which works pretty well. Have the ability to plot routes with waypoints, drag the route, select from 3 suggested routes depending on Fastest, Shortest or easiest, has speed camera warnings and Points of Interest options.......so basically it turns Google Navigation into a fully fledged Sat Nav on the phone.......and I think it was around £20 for the app.......so not too bad really.......

    Gilera SC125 advice

Welcome to the Forum......why not pop over to the Newbies section and introduce yourself to everyone....... In my experience it is rare for a Brake caliper to fail completely.....so most likely is that the pistons in the caliper are sticking.....which would require a rebuild with new seals.....and a thorough clean up of the pistons when they are out. It could also be the rear brake master cylinder that needs a rebuild......again with new seals and a good clean up.......this is just MHO....but could be a lot cheaper than buying new or used caliper and/or master cylinder......
  21. Beat you to it Roy....... viewtopic.php?f=11&t=46773 Depends what you go there for really Fred........if you are just looking for bargains then it's a bit of a gamble.......but if it's for a weekend away, Drinking, Live Bands, the company of other bikers, Chilling out.....then I think it's still worth it..... We'll be going.......if only for the beer & blues......
  22. Errr......looking at your location I guess popping down the road to the local bike shop to try on these lids isn't really an option...... Dunno about these lids........I have a Bell M5X which I love......bit noisy at speed.....but light, well ventilated, decent visor......and fits my bonce perfectly......
  23. Already posted a thread in the Cambs & East Anglia rideout section.......viewtopic.php?f=17&t=46772 But casting the net a bit wider won't hurt. Hope the turnout is good again......
  24. St Neots beer festival in a short while........could be messy......
  25. Well.....that was Lucky...... Nice reviews though Throttled.....and glad you had a good day.......and didn't drop any of them.....
