  1. Direct Access would depend on your age.....but I guess you know this already....
  2. When we stopped outside the Red Lion (somewhere just off the a428 north of Lavenham) a guy came out of the pub to see if we were OK. Says he runs a local bike repair place. Had a little chat with him. I doubt anyone would have batted an eyelid if we had been in the car. Just shows what kind of comraderie there is between most bikers.....
  3. I think Megawatt has one for sale at the mo.....but he's in Kent, so a bit of a hike from you.....
  4. Ha Ha.....see you got the Plough at Bolnhurst as well.....and our local (White Hart in Godmanchester....we were in there last night for a jar or 2... )......should've given us a shout when you were over here.....could've got a cuppa and possibly a bacon buttie out of us too.....
  5. Medal...medal....medal.....
  6. Yeah, it was nice to meet you Whitedevil....shame we didn't know you were headed there otherwise we could have arranged a bit more of a meet. Looks like you got Silverstone before the weather really closed in.... The journey back wasn't quite as "scenic" as the run over to Towcester......in fact we didn't get lost once on the way home...... We bumped into a guy we met in St Neots last week at the Super Sausage and we rode back to Bedford together before he peeled off towards Northampton. It was a bit wet on the way back and I feel sorry for him coz there's a lot of Chrome on that Victory to clean after he got back..... Really nice bloke though......and seriously into his biking...... So I think we got 60 points today......and 150 miles to get them......so a grand day out.....

    Dyno's......

Yeah.....TuneECU is a free program that you can look at the injection maps on Triumphs and some Apprilia's...... It can also be used for diagnostics and altering stuff like the Fuel and Timing maps...and things like the fan cut in temperature etc......very powerful program..... I guess it'll be a case of finding a Dyno that actually supports TuneECU....

    Dyno's......

Nice one.......the vid looks scary..... I'm just thinking that if I replace the air filter the stock engine map is set to run lean at the bottom end......so I'm concerned that it will end up too lean and cause problems. I've got TuneECU on my laptop...but don't fancy fiddling with the fuel map without a dyno......or better still get someone who knows what they are doing to set it up. Thanks for the info so far guys.......

    Dyno's......

Has anyone on here had their bike Dyno'd? What was your experience of it? What's the sort of cost involved? Any recommended Dyno centres?
  10. Hey Sue........the White Hart at Ironbridge.....me and BonnieBird stayed there for the weekend the one before Christmas.....was in the car as we were doing some walking around there......really nice place....... Glad to see so many people getting into this challenge even though it's still only January..... Weather looking a bit ominous for tomorrow.....but I think we'll still try to get over to Towcester and pick up a pub or 2 on the way. Thanks for the offer of lodgings Sue & Ian......may take you up on that later in the year..... Likewise....we'll have a sort out at home and free up a bit of space so we can extend the same offer to anyone that wants to "do" this area........
  11. I liked your thinking DocB......but I guess the idea of the challenge is to get out on the bike....not visit as many pubs as you can find.....

    K&N Air Filter

Yeah I guess so.....allowing more air to flow will weaken the mixture..... Just goes to show you can't believe everything you read....

    K&N Air Filter

Cool..... I've just ordered a PiperCross air filter....plus all the other stuff to give the bike a good service before the spring.....
  14. I think you can put the names into Google maps and find some around your area or further afield if you want to get out further on the bike....

    K&N Air Filter

Is your Fazer injected or carb? I read somewhere that on injected bikes the manufacturers tend to set the fuel maps a bit lean at the lower end to get them past emission regs.......so a filter that allows better airflow can possible compensate for this. Anyhoo.....I'm thinking of putting a PiperCross air filter in mine when I get round to servicing it....
  16. Might have flooded it. Try spinning it over with the throttle wide open......
  17. Me and Bonniebird are planning on a little jaunt over to Towcester tomorrow (weather permitting) to grab Jacks Hill cafe & the Super Sausage.....and any pubs we pass on the way.....
  18. What....Pubs? Your taking this weekend off very seriously Ian.......
  19. There's a list of pub names.....so just find any pub with one of those names anywhere in the country and take a picture of your bike with your Challenge 100 number outside each one.....simples...
  20. Love in an Elevator - Aerosmith BTW....nice one Ian.....
  21. Most likely Alex it'll work on the hydraulic pressure in the brake master cylinder......but I think you'll find it's probably OK anyway. They are not generally adjustable.....but will work fine when you are riding the bike as you only want the light coming on when you are actually braking and not when you are resting your foot on the pedal....
  22. Congratulations..... Looking for a new bike can be a minefield....but an enjoyable one.....
  23. Could just be something expanding as the engine starts to warm up? Exhaust?
  24. The main thing is basically a run from the Ace Cafe to Southend Seafront (estuary front really.. ) on the Easter Monday. Erm.......
  25. I think I mentioned this before on another thread....but ladies tights under your trousers work well too.....just don't crash as explaining it to hospital staff may be more painfull.....
