  1. Great start Seawolf......now my bike is back together and hopefully the weather will start to improve we'll have to plan some trips farther afield to get some of the other tags if you're up for it.....
  2. But if you ride in all weathers that salt and crud can really b*gger the brakes up. Strangely lack of use can also be more harmfull than regular use. And binding callipers can cause the disk to overheat and warp it.....
  3. Personally if I were stripping the callipers to clean them I'd put new seals in.....and I'd clean and polish them....and replace all the screws with nice shiney ones.......but then I'm a bit OCD anyway.....
  4. Ok mate......just winding you up.... If you replace the indicators with the LED ones make sure you replace the flasher relay with one suited for LED's also.....
  5. Sue's spot on.......you could try the manufacturer...or have a look on eBay.....
  6. Cg125's are just simple, reliable little work horses. A really good starter bike. I was a bit confused by your post Arran as you mention lights and brakes and then say you're gonna replace them with rubber ones.....probably not a good move with brakes..... Spares are plentiful for these bikes....so I'm sure you'll have no problems fixing it up..... Post pics as you go along........
  7. Lighter bar end weights could cause you more vibration through the bars.......
  8. You'll need to remove the rivets no matter what you decide. I think J B Engineering are the manufacturer of Quill exhausts...so you should get the right thing if you but from them.....
  9. Hmmmm....not sure about that pic. But anyway...note the TMBF Neck Warmer.......excellent bit of kit....and very reasonably priced too.......(Shameless plug for ya Col.... )
  10. Managed to get Tango back together this morning....so, as it was a nice day and we had 2 more pub tags to get, we went out for a little ride. Both the pubs we went to were in nice locations....but we stopped at the Kings Head in Waddenhoe for a coffee. Really nice pub down a cul-de-sac with nice views over their gardens and the river from the beer terrace. Although the owners said it gets mad in the summer on nice days. Real Ale pub too, and if I wasn't on the bike I'd have been tempted by the Nene Valley Brewery's BSA ale!!.... Roads were a bit salty but mostly dry....so no scary moments. So we had a really nice day out.... BonnieBird soaking up the rays at the King's Head, Waddenhoe

  12. Welcome to the forum Nige...... Go over to the Newbies section and introduce yourself to the rest of the guys when you get a mo.... I've gotta say I've never encountered a 4v battery before....they are normally increments of 1.5v. Each cell is 1.5v....so a battery with only 1 cell will be 1.5v....2 cells would be 3v....so if it has 3 cells (or compartments) on the battery it may be 4.5v. But I'd be more inclined to think that it's a 6v battery or even a 12v one. If the battery is not charging when the engine is running (check with a voltmeter) it could be the Regulator/rectifier or possibly the alternator....but I really don't know this bike....so don't take this as gospel.....
  13. While my guitar gently weeps - George Harrison
  14. If the filter wasn't fitted correctly it could cause oil starvation which could cause a seizure or partial seizure....but from the sounds of it I wouldn't think that's what has happened here.
  15. Welcome to the forum...... Check the battery terminals are tight and not corroded.....may just be a loose connection....
  16. If the plugs were wet it would suggest that the problem is spark. New plugs may sort it. Blocked filler cap would cause fuel starvation.......so the plugs would have been dry. Other things to check are Plug caps....damp in the electrics.....CDI unit....etc.
  17. Could be plugs or coils. Have you got good compression? Turn it over with plugs out and stick your finger on the plug hole and see if it gets blown off. The plugs were Black...but were they wet? If you turned it over with no spark (or very weak spark) you'd expect the plugs to be wet from unburnt fuel. You are getting fuel through? Have you tried to start it with the tank filler cap open? Just in case the breather is blocked causing a vacuum in the tank. Float bowls on carbs full? Fuel tap in the correct place?
  18. I've not seen that before. But I guess you'd have to go through a lot of tyres to get your money back.......then again, you could offer to change tyres for other bikers for £10 a go......

    my bad

Have you routed the throttle cable correctly too? Could be that it's not opening the throttles fully. But deffo check your airbox/filter and the air inlet.....any blockages or restrictions and it'll definitely stop the engine breathing.....

  22. Yeah....flip front lids have a habit of the mechanism coming loose. Personally I will only look at a lid if it has a 4 or 5 star Sharp rating....but that's just me..... Any doubts mate and I'd bin it and have a look for something else. And reference the above Sharp site....not all lids in the 4 & 5 star categories are silly expensive.....but you only get one head......

    EXHAUST GLOWING RED

I don't know this bike....but generally this could be a couple of things: Ignition timing.....if the timing is out you could be running a bit hot or igniting fuel in the exhaust. Or: Fuel/Air mixture......if this is not correct you could be putting unburnt fuel into the exhaust where it is igniting.....or pre-ignition (or pinking) which can also make the engine run hot. Valve timing or valve gaps could also cause problems if incorrect. If your exhaust valve(s) are not closing fully you could be getting ignition in the exhaust as well as in the combustion chamber. Just a few thoughts. I'm sure others will add to this too.....
  24. Maybe your throttle cable has stretched or is getting stuck....so the throttle is not opening fully.....
  25. SSHHHHH........don't tell TC.....
