You can't get a socket on it? Be careful that they've not cross threaded it....

  3. Severe weather warning for our region tomorrow Roy......good luck mate.....
  4. Cool....thanks Sue.....
  5. Hey Stu and guys......what number of people or tents is the limit?
  6. Sounds like your starter motor relay has stuck. Maybe the contacts have welded together. I don't know this bike....but it should be easy enough to find where it is.....basically follow the heavy wire from the Starter motor back towards the battery....and the relay should be there.
  7. Come Hell or High Water.....which following last year is entirely possible..... Stu and Tracey Susieque and Rennie Techno and significant other TC Yorbandit mojobanana Littlecat Donnie Brasco nman1 Rebel Rach UK190 Suzilew BonnieBird Tango Takanta (added your name....hope that's OK)
  8. I think that you can use Nitromors to strip the old paint off. As it will be on the front of the radiator it shouldn't be exposed to silly heat.....so I'm not sure you need to use special heat proof paint....but I stand to be corrected on this..... Just make sure it is really clean before you paint it.....and use a good primer first.....
  9. It's an investment in your future FUN.......
  10. Nice one Roy........held out for the new Reg numbers eh........ Weather looks fairly cr*p tomorrow, otherwise I would have come up there to see what they look like when they're clean.....
  11. Lay off the pies......
  12. £240 fitted don't sound too bad to me........but there are guys around that can supply tyres that you'd need to get fitted.....and the price depends on size, speed rating, compound, etc. I've got Bridgestone BT014's on my bike.....which are pretty grippy, but the downside is that they also wear quite fast too. Maybe check a ER6 forum and see what the guys on there reckon are good tyres......
  13. Won't chew the clutch up doing that then?.......notching the clutch basket?
  14. Might be worth looking on eBay for a standard set of Downpipes.....then going for an end can that is recommended for that bike. Chances are that the jetting/fuel map have never been adjusted....so it may run better by returning it to standard....
  15. So Stu....the bike will be ready by Christmas then mate........ Looking good so far though......
  16. The trouble is that an exhaust designed for another bike may mess up your fuelling.....which may have already been played with for your current exhaust. Personally I think a Stainless sleeve to go on your current exhaust may be the best option. What you may save with an exhaust for another bike may get eaten up with remapping your injection or rejetting the carbs depending on what your bikes setup is. And if your bike is Carb, even rejetting it for a non-standard exhaust can still give horrible flat-spots.....as I found out many years ago on my XS1100......

    no lube on chain

I guess if you start conversation by admiring the bike, then "notice" the chain and maybe offer a quick spray of lube "just to stop it snapping or damaging the bike" I don't see how anyone would see that as rude. Good luck.....

    Hugger

Nice.......won't have done your tyre a lot of good either..... Sounds like you need to invest in the Real McCoy........(and not a bag of crisps)......

    no lube on chain

Worst case is it could snap.... If the links are tight (as they almost certainly will be) it will chew up the sprockets, be noisy, loss of performance, etc. If you feel uneasy confronting the rider maybe just leave a note on the bike suggesting that lubing the chain might be a very good idea.....
  20. BMF show in Kelso beginning of July?....or is that too far?
  21. Yeah...the lid will have to meet certain safety requirements. But fit is more important than anything else.....so you've got to try it on for fit. I used the Sharp ratings to get ideas on lids when I was looking last time.....there are some really good rated lids in the 4* & 5* groups that are not expensive. The ideal would be at one of the big bike shows....where you can get a huge range of lids all in one place and often get deals on them too.....and you can try plenty of them on to find the best fit....
  22. Yeah...the flasher relay could be a bit iffy if it's affecting both sides. Check all earthing wiring/connections too.....
  23. Hein Gericke are normally pretty good....and they may have some stuff on sale at the moment: http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/ Personally I'd always wear armoured trousers or jeans too.
  24. Definitely Alan...... it's brakes that often get overlooked when doing maintenance unless it's a pad change. Worth taking an old toothbrush to the exposed parts of the pistons every now and then.....just to stop the build-up of crud and corrosion as well as keeping the guide pins clean and slightly greased (copper Grease obviously....and the merest smear too)
  25. Or you could put crash sliders/spindle protectors on there....possibly
