  1. Never been challenged at our local Shell garage........I fact, when I went to pay on Sunday on the way out on the bikes I noticed a sign by the door that said to either remove your helmet or open the visor......much more sensible...... Going back to Joeman's post.....my eldest son works in a filling station at a local supermarket and he says that they get told to enforce this kind of thing occasionally. ......he's not going to risk his job by not complying with his manager's instructions. ......so, please bear this in mind before ranting off at the staff in the filling station.....
  2. We're probably gonna head up there on Sunday.......already got something on Saturday. .......
  3. Congrats Sharon......back out on the bike again now then......
  4. Undoing the front sprocket can sometimes be a bit tricky, so you'll need a socket the correct size and possibly a breaker bar. A good tip is to stuff some rag between the front sprocket and the engine casing. ....This stops the sprocket turning when you're trying to undo it, but doesn't damage the engine casing.....
  5. Easy job with some basic tools.....A lot depends on whether the chain has a split link or is riveted. ....split link is easy to do.....rivet link requires a tool to rivet it correctly......
  6. Agree with above.....chances are the forks have twisted slightly in the yokes......put the bike on the centre stand and put something under the engine to support the front of the bike....then loosen the pinch bolts on the yokes and do as Joeman suggested, front wheel between your knees and twist the bars until they line up with the front wheel......
  7. Can you not find a proper replacement seat cover for your bike?........A poorly fitting seat cover not only looks cr*p, but can be really uncomfortable too.....
  8. Any decent DAS course will teach you how to control the bigger bike.....They are training you to pass the test...... But, yep, I'd go the DAS route.......
  9. Had a good run round our favourite local roads......plenty of other bikes out......but saw more police cars today than I've seen over the last month.....

    my motorcycle

    Very nice, mate.....
  11. Keep on going......you'll nail it...... My OH and I go out together on our bikes, but I won't pressure her to ride faster than she's comfortable with. We have a kind of agreement that if I want to take a stretch of road a bit quicker, then I'll go off and do it and get it out of my system, and wait for her to catch up.....then we'll carry on together. So, you need to find others to ride with the same sort of agreement......just don't feel pressured into riding faster than you're comfortable with......
  12. The machines I work on are made by Hitachi.......and we can order a "special" screwdriver for the screws on them.......put the screw head into the end of the driver and tap it on the floor and the screw stays in place pretty solidly......
  13. Would you be surprised if I told you that the crosshead screws on Jap bikes are not your run-of-the-mill Philips #2?......but are JIS (Japanese Industry Standard) #2........and you really need special screwdrivers to avoid b*ggering the heads up....... https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/4bo/Vessel-900-Megadora-2x150-JIS-2-Screwdriver/B000TGF8YI/ref=pd_sim_60_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=SAQS5BXRY3MXFHK33V9Y
  14. That's the right attitude.......

    Tyre question

We all started somewhere.......Most jobs on bikes are not difficult......as long as you have the right tools......

    Seriously need help

No, the filter shouldn't affect it.........sounds like something has come loose in the clutch somewhere.......maybe one of the clutch springs or bolts have come loose.......whip the clutch cover off and have a look around in there......
  17. Welcome to TMBF mate. ....... Is the bike brand new or secondhand? A poorly adjusted chain can cause gear change problems.......also if the clutch is misadjusted you'll get problems with stalling and bad gear changes, particularly if the clutch is dragging..... check the bike out and adjust as necessary.......
  18. Happy birthday Hoggs...... Hope you have a great day.....

    What oil did you use?

    Seriously need help

You'd be just looking for anything loose in there, or any bolts that have backed out......or any metal shards floating around. If it's the opposite side to the clutch, could be a number of things......does it make the noise when the bike is stationary. ......or is it only when the bike is moving?

    Seriously need help

The clutch may feel fine......but if something is working loose on it and rubbing on the casing or somewhere else it's only a matter of time before it goes bang.....
  22. Welcome to TMBF mate. ........ Yep.....you need to do the CBT to ride a 125 with L-plates.....irrespective of holding a car license.......and yes, the CBT needs renewing every 2 years, unless you pass your bike test before the 2 years is up........no shortcuts I'm afraid. ......

Have you checked the oil level? Sounds like something to do with the clutch.......maybe whip the cover off and check it.....

    Blowing exhaust

They look quite good actually! I'm tempted by this one, I just don't think it's road legal. http://www.blackwidowexhausts.co.uk/cbr600-cbr-600-f1-f2-f3-f4-f5-f6-f7-2001-2007-exhaust-system-with-230mm-round-gp-style-stainless-steel-silencer-9969-p.asp Contact them and ask if it's road legal........If it's not stamped "off road use only" you're most likely ok.....
