    MT07 Ignition

A bit late getting back to all on this one as not had time to work on the bike of late.
  2. When I was a young chap I can remember my older brother having a RD250LC with a set of micron cans on(in those days you could ride a 250 on L plates), it sounded very sweet. Now I'm old I would probably moan its to noisy but years ago it was great sounding.

    MT07 Ignition

Hi, my nieces Yamaha MT 07 was stolen and recovered with damage to the ignition block and a brown and red wire cut just below, the damage to the ignition does not look to bad but I was unable to test it yesterday as the key were not available as key holder had to pop out and I missed her. Anyway my niece has gone back to her home country of Australia so has asked to have ago at fixing the bike and selling it for her. I'm informed there is a immobiliser in the ignition so if the ignition/immobiliser is damage it will need replaced and new keys coded and the cut two wires look like the are part of the loom from the ignition block so could be reconnected. The garage that assessed the bike for the insurance company told her and the that she would need a new loom and ignition block, no idea why my niece did not get it repaired under the insurance but good old uncle Mick has been given the task. The bike is twenty miles away so will have to pop down next weekend with the toolbox and pull it apart a bit. If anyone has any tips or ideas please feel free shout out. Will let ya know what I find next week.

    Camping Food

If camping on the bike we tend not to take too much to cook but if using the car then all the luxuries are taken. On the bike tinned or homemade(preferred) stew and tinned potatoes heated on a Coleman primus stove, warm the spuds in there water a bit first them drain them off and add the stew and continue to heat as the spuds take a too long to heat and what meat that is in the stew breaks down. Did add some tinned carrots to this meal on the Easter weekend to stretch it a bit further. Other meals can be usual cooked breakfast, extra sausage's cooked for sandwiches for lunch especially if at a race meeting. Homemade curry frozen, homemade chilli and I do like a home made cottage pie mix but with out the mash so its more like a mince stew if that makes sense. I've go a tin of the Goblin hamburgers (the wife bought them) but not plucked up the courage to open them yet. Might wait until we are camped very close to the toilet block and its a quiet campsite. The wife bought a toasty maker that heats over a hob so would be perfect for camping this on also breaks down so could be used as a frying pan, maybe a tad small but another make maybe bigger, link to the one we got.
  5. Admission was included in the ticket, happy days and some great racing.
  6. Hey guys quick silly question, the wife and I have just bought tickets for the BSB at Silverstone on the easter weekend for the grandstand @ £54 each for the weekend but now the wife thinks that price does not include admission into the circuit just the grandstand, which will be handy if the weather turns to rain, anyone have a idea as there website does seem very confusing with regards this information. Otherwise will ring them tomorrow. Thanks
  7. Easy to do, have a go yourself. Might be worth borrowing or investing in a calliper rewind tool to push the pistons back in, just makes life easier. I had a look you can get a set for £20 on Amazon something like this. Oh have a butchers on youtube bound to be something on there to help.
  8. How the battered fish go? Not tried that yet but one of the lads at work said he had some last week and it was very good, so its on our menu this week.
  9. Yes still worth it, you never know when another bike/vehicle has crept up into that blind spot unless you look, especially important on motorways.
  10. We also use it for garlic bread with home made butter and a part baked baguette, just be careful when slicing the bread to put in the butter as bread can break, oh and sit it on a bit of foil so any dripping butter gets soaked up into the bread.
  11. Might be cheaper to move the drive?
  12. If memory serves me right the A482 from Llanwdra to Aberaeron is a nice road but is a bit north of where you are looking at, but have a look on google and see what ya think.
  13. Belt and braces use stand lock and disc lock by the time the thief has looked at it all he is bound the think feck it.
  14. Looks a good route, other options could be drop down to Rhayader and follow the Elan valley road past the visitor centre and carry on it comes out at Devils Bridge but its a slow steady road with the occasional sheep on the road , at the devils bridge train station is the Two Hoots tea room, nice stopping point for a brew and a sarnie(good value), usually a few bikes there on the weekend. Oh if you go up that way there is also Doms bike stop just off the A49 near Leominster.
  15. Probably a good thing then, as it was not ment to be and could of been a can of worms best left closed. Out of interest what bike was it?
  16. I got a beanie with similar set up a set of Bluetooth earphones about the size of helmet intercom speakers, they work ok. No idea on the cost as a xmas pressie. Maybe Bluetooth speak by your pillow might be more comfortable?
  17. I use the plug kit from M&P and to inflate have a https://www.sportouring.co.uk/shop/accessories/tyre-care/tyre-inflation/rocky-creek-12v-tyre-inflator/ and also got the https://www.sportouring.co.uk/shop/accessories/tyre-care/tyre-inflation/rocky-creek-tyre-gauge-dial-type-with-two-chucks/ The pump is great nice and light and inflates in no time, the gauge is ok but could do with being smaller tbh.
  18. Just had my renewal quote through from Bikesure and its £205 so its £8.50 ish cheaper than last year's and about £52 cheaper than a online quote from one of the main quote websites. so very pleased with that.
  19. Also I know its locked up at the moment but vehicle tax get that cancelled then at least it cant be ridden on the road legally.
  20. I bought a Husqvarna 550 XP Mark II in the spring hell of a good bit of kit, run it on Aspen and does not miss a beat. Can't beat power tools Muhahaha.
  21. The TV died last Friday so had to replace it, went all out and bought a Sony Bravia, so thats my spending done for a month or two. Mind I do like the HJC R-PHA 90S Carbon.
  22. Piers Dowell, who is a master at air spraying helmets has this technical info on his website. I have seen his spraying first hand and he is very good. Hope this helps. Mick
  23. May go but it will be on one of the Saturdays due to work, might look at getting a HJC carbon flip up lid for touring. Not sure if we are going to drive or catch the train so I can have a beer.
