  1. Apart from a 3 hour evening shift on Saturday I have the house to myself until Monday So will probably waste it watching old movies the Wife can't usually stand
  2. My Brother in Canada pays around $190 a month for his electricity usage and he is not frugal! has the hottub on permanently, doesn't worry about what machinery he has running in garage etc. That works out at approx £125 He is on hydropower where he lives, about 60% of Canada is using it, the Government sell their surplus electricity down to the US which helps keep costs down . Cynical old me still thinks we would be paying over the odds if that came here
  3. Time to resurrect this thread I've been listening to this youtube page for last few days. Its street musicians from all around the world playing the same song. They then mix them together to create the video. Some cracking covers. One of my favourite songs done justice..... ( & yes I know Ringo isn't exactly a street singer and Robbie wrote the song but you get the jist)
  4. You might have better results looking here https://www.autotrader.co.uk/bike-search?postcode=bd164qp&make=Suzuki&model=SV650S&year-to=2022&include-delivery-option=on&year-from=2007&keywords=abs&advertising-location=at_bikes&page=1
  5. @Bender my boss has just spent 20 grand on the same fish that cost him around 11 last year Laughably we had a customer complain at our price increases and claimed it was people like us that are causing the issues by being greedy and hiking our price up and that if we would lower our price more people could afford it and all would be right with the world Tried explaining to him about suppliers costs, increase in gas, electric, fish prices etc etc but no, it was our fault for being greedy bast*rds
  6. A pub near me has just closed up. Apparently they can't afford the utility bills anymore
  7. It might help potential buyers if you put your location as they are going to have to come and collect it
  8. Many years ago my Brother sold his laptop via eBay. The money went into his account so the next day he marked it as dispatched and set off to the post office. A little voice in his head told him to double check his bank account before posting and he discovered that the transfer had been reversed. Had happened within 15 minutes of him saying it had been despatched
  9. Thats interesting, I have wondered before what stops idiots/criminals from flying into airports etc
  10. And nob of the day goes to.........................
  11. Girl at work told me she just watched a really really old film with her Dad last night and was surprised how much she liked it considering it was so old. The film? Demolition Man with Sly Stallone
  12. Definitely machine. trips no matter where its plugged in. tried plugging it in hallway which is on different circuit and it tripped that too
  13. Success!! It was my coffee percolator. Whatever is wrong with it must of got worse as now it trips the breakers just plugging it in. Annoyingly I can't see anything wrong with it inside. Might leave it a couple of weeks and then plug it back in to see what happens.
  14. My Wifes Grandpa has carers that come in 3 times a day. They make him his meals, take him out if he wants to go somewhere etc. My Wifes Mum (his daughter) was there the other day when a carer came. New girl, probably 19 or 20. She asked him what he'd like for his tea and he said sausage, egg and beans. Wife's Mum then observed the girl standing in the kitchen looking at the oven like she had never seen one before. She asked her if she wanted any help and she admitted she had no idea how to cook what he had asked for You would think a company hiring people to go and cook meals for the elderly would at the least make sure they actually could cook a simple meal! I can only assume everyone else she dealt with got sandwiches.
  15. @Fozzie not that I've noticed. It has only happened once more which was Sunday morning. Nothing since. I had swapped RCD's over so I now know they are both working fine. Fridge was plugged into hallway last time it went off so confident it's not that. Only 3 things left in Kitchen that are plugged in and on are dishwasher, Washing machine and coffee percolator. My money at moment is on Coffee machine as it is "always on" whereas the other two were switched off. Its plugged in on a different circuit now so will give it a few days and see if its the culprit. Also I'm being lazy and it's the easiest one to test
  16. I agree with @manxie49 . Its a classic case of " computer says no " but if you talk to an actual person they should be able to help.

    Welcome Westmoors

    Welcome to the forum
  18. Fairly sure Wifes next car will be an EV, certainly the one after that will. I'll still be driving the car I have now most likely
  19. I want to be like my boss's Father. A couple of years ago he was helping my boss out renovating a flat he had bought as a rental. I went in the bedroom where he was working to find him on top of a stepladder reaching over to finish installing a light fitting. He was 84 at the time
  20. I've had two old Vauxhalls. A Corsa & an Astra Diesel estate. Both over ten years old when I first got them. Served me fine with only usual needing doing like brake pipes or coil springs etc. Gave the Corsa to my Wife's Mum as she wanted something to keep the miles down on her own car. She had it less than a year before telling me her mechanic had said it wasn't worth the cost to get it to pass it's mot Wasn't bothered really as it had only cost me £450 and lasted me two years before I gave it to her so didn't owe me anything. The Astra I had for 3/4 years and it was a solid car. Broke down on me once which turned out to be the starter motor. I spent a week or so parking on hills & bump starting it while waiting for new motor to be delivered I gave that car to my Wife's brother and he had it for about 1 1/2 years in which time it needed loads of work doing which I wouldn't of bothered for the age of the car. Head gasket replacement which cost him £900 I believe!! I'm betting the car wasn't worth much more than £800 What I've learnt from this is that my Wife's family are bloody rough on cars
  21. I bet everywhere else felt like a snail's pace after that
  22. You hope to get 20 years out of it?
  23. Because it hasn't done anything since Friday!! Starting to wonder if it was just a blip
  24. My driers on a different circuit so I know it's not that. Cheers though
  25. I'll try that with the fridge @Fozzie If the same side still goes I'm guessing it will be the fridge. Its only about 6 years old but they don't make things to last nowadays I was going to test it by plugging it in the hallway as thats on a different circuit.
