  1. Bob does this mean powered up from the bike you can't plug in the remote mike & therefore no sound ?? Cheers Im sure with a bit of ingenuity some kind of splitter cable could be made to provide power into the camera and a mic socket out.
  2. Does it make bacon sandwiches? That's what I need.. A machine that goes out, buys the bacon etc and wakes me up with hot bacon sarnies. Now that would be impressive.
  3. Next time, if someone could hand me a beer as i ride past, that would save a lot of time.. Cheers!
  4. Watch this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhpKft5ECI0 at about 0:45 you see the TMBF crew sat having beers on the left 0:51 pull up with the rest of the bikes and the campsite is dead ahead. basically pull up, say hello, pitch your tent, head for the bar!

    Scrambler

yep i reckon the BMW scrambler will basically be the R nineT with nobly tyres.. Are you going to fit a tail tidy to yours? Evotech do them http://www.scramblerforum.com/attachments/image-jpg.590/
  6. Two stroke engine needs petrol and oil. Neat petrol will wash away any lubricant and damage the engine. If you ever need to pour petrol into a twostroke engine, make sure its mixed 50:1(minimum) with proper two stroke oil. Anyway, to diagnose your problem... What tools do you have? Need to check for a spark. Ideally you need to take out the sparkplug and with it connected to the plug lead and the other end touching the engine attempt to start the bike. Whilst the plug is out you can check its gap and colour and see if it's dry/wet with fuel.
  7. Do not do that with a two stroke engine!!!
  8. Good advice is this. Only thing to add is that when going slow, the RPM's need to be moderately high to keep balance. By dragging the rear brake and keeping RPM's in the upper of you "low" range, you can get away with riding at almost a standstill without putting your foot down. yep, on the FireBike course at brands hatch that i attended, one part of the course was slow speed control. manoeuvring around cones at very slow speed. Those who tried to do it without the rear brake failed as they didn't have the control. By keeping the rear brake on, and the revs higher than normal, you can control the bike using the clutch in the "Friction Zone". the control you get it much more precise than trying to do it off the throttle alone.
  9. Yep, easy free retirement.. Whilst inside they can sell the movie rights to Hollywood.
  10. Some mixed up ideas here! Your bike has three brakes. Front, rear and engine brake. If you want to slow down, the most efficient way is to use all three. This is why you don't pull the clutch during an emergency stop. No problem with braking on bends. you can brake anywhere you like so long as you dont exceed the level of available grip. As the lean angle increases the braking needs to decrease proportionaly. However, best practice is to do all your braking before the bend (using all three brakes) and go through the bend with throttle applied to keep the bike balanced and keep weight distributed to the larger rear tyre rather than diving the forks to overload the smaller front tyre. Slow in, fast out... Also brake pads are cheaper than engines/clutches, so its much cheaper to use the rear brake to slow the back wheel than to depend on engine braking alone. Back brake is very useful for slow speed manoeuvring. Try for yourself. Go do slow figure of eight turns at full lock with no back brake, then try the same dragging the back brake. Back brake during slow speed stuff keeps the bike more controlled.
  11. Just a straights section of pipe with different diameter at each end needed? Or something more fancy?
  12. yep, ive 'cured' tonsillitis with a bottle of JD in the past
  13. Imagine the ear ache you'll get if anything did happen..
  14. Isn't that why cider with ice has become a popular summer drink??

    Scrambler

Great review. I rode the BMW R nine T yesterday. I thought about you as I think you also tried the R nine T but opted for the ducati instead. Interestingly the dealer mentioned BMW will be bringing out a scrambler next year.. When I said it was clearly competition for the ducati, they didnt like that! Anyway, glad you're enjoying it. Wonder if you could fit a power commander to smooth out the power delivery?
  16. 26 i believe. Seriously needs to start acting his age I'd love to meet the guy just to wind him up for entertainment value. I reckon he seems the type of guy I could wind up very easily.
  17. I rocked up on my own last year, didn't know anyone. Soon got chatting to everyone. Get a two person vango tent. They pack up small and vango are a great make. You need to extra space for all your gear.
  18. Traded her in for a younger model? Nice one
  19. Get a givi tank bag that attaches to the fuel filler cap. No magnets, no scratches and easy to fit/remove.
  20. It was a 40mph road. You were doing indicated 40, and the car was likely doing the same. To overtake you he would have needed to break the speed limit. Pulling into his lane with just a couple of car lengths isn't a great idea. You closed his safety margin down to less than a 2 second gap so he was correct to honk you. If you didn't have the power to accelerate or didnt want to break the speed limit, the better course of action would have been to anticipate the junction, slow down a little to allow the car to pass then tuck in behind him leaving yourself a 2 second gap. Lessons to learn from this are anticipate your moves in advance and always keep a 2 second gap (minimum) from other traffic.... Until you get a faster bike
  21. Sadly these event do seem to attract the idiots. At the Southend shakedown this year there were loads of idiots on sportsbikes wearing t-shirts with motocross body armour posing about redlining and doing burnouts at any opportunity. Also saw a load of smashed up bikes and a few smashed up cars that the bikes had hit. Sad to say, that a select few make events like the Southend shakedown an embarrassment to the biking community.
  22. Yes but stu, we all know your bike's spent most of those 12years up on paddock stands with its engine sat on the floor beside it! Im sure theres been a few newbie 125riders on the forum droping brand new bikes recently. Or am I imagining things?
  23. Welcome to the forum. First of many drops unfortunately. That's why its not a great idea for newbies to buy brand new bikes. Fix them in threes, so wait for the next two drops then fix them all together. If you try to fix them as they happen you'll spend a fortune! Better still, just fix it up before you sell it for your next bike.
  24. Exact same bike? Just have his number plate made up, stick it on your bike, go through a few speed cameras... He won't have a full licence for long
  25. it actually takes quite a knock to render a helmet useless, and that kind of knock would likely leave visible marks on the surface, so a unmarked, used helmet thats not too old for free is a great offer IMO.
